Just an American: We can't call her either one, That would mean your mama would lose her title. We can't have that. So, I guess you'll have to call her First Lady Michelle Obama

    • Posted By: lovepeople @ 11/06/2008 1:48:24 PM

You seem to be the expert on every black, so you tell us what to call her, since you don't have anything intelligent to add!

The horrible past of dark color people being kept as "slaves" by the white man ,also has a meaning under God's plan to all of us....It is lesson to be learned .Of course rak color people was not the only ones who suffred as slaves in the past of World History!!! Many "native indians" from northen and South america also were slaves and got killed at some point.
Just think, If Obama was not a Bi-racial we will NOT be making history now haveing him as our new president !!! Sometimes people think....the atheists say that God doesn exist because why he will let people suffre so much....why God allowed bad things to happen !!! Don't ask yourself WHY ??? Accept if you don't have the power to change it because it has meaning behind it.....PLus EARTH IS NOT "HEAVEN" WHERE EVERYTHING IS DESCRIVED AS "PERFECT" AND "PAIN " IS NOT PART OF IT.

I'am not pushig my thoughts to anybody but I hope my comments can HELP some of you to FIND your OWN answers for your questions....in WHY OBAMA??? WHY MICHELLE DRESSES LIKE THAT ETC...

  • Posted By: SweetMari314 @ 11/06/2008 2:25:23 PM

lmao this is so funny how people are so mad because obama won the right way and not the wrong way. for the man that said he was so ashamed of the united states lmaoo well your a prime example how and why this country is the way it is along with vanessa2008 that is making her racial remarks about the BLACKS always being on welfare!! well news flash mrs illiterate there are more white people on welfare than black so get your facts straight before you decide to accuse a race ok. your another one that is an embarrasement for the united states. Being racist is not going to gain you new friends it just puts a label on you.

    • Posted By: backwater83 @ 11/06/2008 2:30:23 PM

here's the facts you were looking for... you are correct, there are more whites on welfare. 34 percent of the people on welfare are black. Strange number when only 13 percent of the population is black. Seems like a disproportionate number of blacks on welfare to me... So before you go spewing your ignorance, why don't YOU check the numbers for yourself and stop making it up as you go along.

I'm only 17 years old, but I understand and believe in the fundmental truths that our country was built upon: equal rights, opportunities, and treatment for all. I believe that everyone deserves the ability to pursue happiness. And that suffering must be avoided whenever possible. I look and the hatred, the prejudice, and disrespect in these comments and wonder, is this what our forefathers intended? Is this what my generation must inherit: lies, anger, and selfishness in all directions? It depresses me to think that the adults, who have decided and directed much of my world, can't even have civil discussions and exchange of ideas in response to news articles such as this. It depresses me even more that people may reply in hatred and anger to this comment. My generation faces the greatest environmental, economic, and energy crises mankind has ever seen. Obama, his wife, family, and cabinet are not the only ones with the responsibility to solve them.

    • Posted By: Seventh Son @ 11/06/2008 2:29:51 PM

      Dear Teen Voices 101
I am thoroughly embarassed that you are seeing and witnessing all this mindless invective, presumably from those who are older then you. Frankly, your reasoned comment gives me hope that the next generation of Americans will truly reflect the vision Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., had that "someday, all God's children, black, white, yellow, red and brown, will join hands together and make a better world..." (paraphrasing him). This is our chance, right now, with Barack Obama, to take the badly needed steps we must to assure that America's youth are re-embraced and included in the national dialogue; that young people around the world are given the chance to see that America is not "The Beast" that the enemies we have made insist we are. That we clean up the planet, extend the hand of friendship to other nations who want and deserve our friendship, but also that we remain on guard against those who don't or won't be our friends after we demonstrate that we want thiers... We must offer them the chance to state their grievances against us, and do the same, in dipolomatic forums that help us work out our problems and misunderstandings without going for the jugular first or unleashing raging testosterone storms of military action to get our way. That's what bullies do. If only some of the bitter, racist older people out there, (thank God they are a dying breed!), who've ruled this country and stepped on African Americans, Hispanics, Asians and Native Amerricans for centuries can just find spiritual transformation and catharsis and put their anger aside -- and get a grip on the new reality of 21st Century America -- which begins with President Barack Obama and the political emergence of Young America, we will begin to do the work that guarantees that your generation inherits a better world. That should be our generation's legacy to you and all the youth around the planet. That is part of America's true destiny.
Do well in school and prepare to inherit the future, Teen Voices 101

I wonder if she is proud to be an AMERICAN now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: agelesswonder3 @ 11/06/2008 2:29:42 PM

      Dear Mulelip:
Some people have taken out of context Michelle Obama's comment. If you are the type to read a negative into her statement so be it. The United States of America has been guilty of some things that have not been spoken of publicly until it's exposed through another venue. Slavery, bigotry, racism (those not embraced as equals - African American, Hispanic, Caucasian, Indian, Chinese, Japanese or any one that's different) are not attributes that of which Americans can be proud.

  • Posted By: bshellyg @ 11/06/2008 2:29:39 PM

I'm glad the election has opened up a dialogue allowing Americans to discuss issues regarding race. For so long I was afraid to discuss racism. Now that the issue is unavoidable it's disturbing to see people belittling each other and making assumptions about intelligence and education. The voices of every American should be heard during this discussion, whether they are brilliant or not, educated or not, agreed with or not. I just wish the discussion wouldn???t be shut down so quickly when people hear something they don???t agree with or when it creates strong emotions within them. I hope that with the coming weeks, months and years Americans can move beyond pure emotions such as hate, fear, discomfort, and confusion and that we can begin to understand each other. I am willing to try and understand without judgment. I am willing to listen even when the discussion makes me cringe. I know I cannot begin to be heard and understood until I first listen and understand. It is true that we as a country face a steep road ahead, but we have already come such a long way.

This man and his ungrateful wife want to change this country? Fortunately, four years goes by pretty quick. Hopefully, we won't all be speaking Muslim by then!!! They planning to "paint the White House black" too???

roxxy51, THANK YOU! my family raised me to think that there was something so wrong with knowing a black person outside of school or work but it didnt work U cant help who you are attracted to and whatever the case may be people just need to realize that yes a black man will be running this country and i am so glad that my daughter can see him and say mommy he looks like me!

    • Posted By: dollylama @ 11/06/2008 2:25:54 PM

you know that is why people get so tired of this whole thing - he did not run (his words) because of his race - then why are you making it about his race - he is a Malado - (white/black) that he is. Take him for his word, not his color - accept him and believe that he will run this country - not by specific color but because he too loves the great United States of America - not just blacks.

Comment: For those of you who are not happy with the outcome of this election, stop complaining and blaming and hating. Just MOVE!!! you've got many places that you can go outside of the US if you feel that strongly about Obama being President. Seriously! We have too much to work together on right now to make sure our kids are ok and our future is ok. All this hatred and 'opinions' about things that MOST of these poeple have no idea about in the first place is rediculous! This is the UNITED States of America! Get it PEOPLE, UNITED!!! iIf you dont want to be a part of the solution REGARDLESS of who was elected, then you are part of the problem and you should just do us all a favor and move out of the U.S.! Period! I am sure Canada or Mexico even (if you dont like the cold) would be GLAD to have you!

  • Posted By: mycle39 @ 11/06/2008 2:05:30 PM

Obama is a fraud. He never would have been elected if he wasn't black. Very sad! Very sad for all of us!!

    • Posted By: roxxy51 @ 11/06/2008 2:24:39 PM

here we go again another racist among us... you should be ashamed of your self... no he won because bush f.....up our country, and something had to give, he won so ,not because he is a white/black american because we need change ..idiot

    • Posted By: lennore @ 11/06/2008 2:15:13 PM

I guess mccain should have been elected cause he was white

  • Posted By: gigilarue @ 11/06/2008 2:20:00 PM

I like her- this article was about Michelle Obama and her agenda & transition into the white house. Alot of the posts discuss race- um... Obama is not just a "black man" he is a "white man " also - his mother was white. He was raised by his white grandparents. Besides any of this- he and his wife are educated, kind, emotionally intelligent people. Keep your personal bias out of the fact that this man has inserted HOPE back into this country. He IS the president for at least the next 4 years... embrace this and make the best of it - whatever your views are. This is an opportunity for America to get back on track. THAT should be our primary focus. He is guided by values not personal agenda- this speaks volumes.

    • Posted By: ALICIA197407 @ 11/06/2008 2:24:28 PM

Who cares about his race! He's a Democrat and I love it. Worry about Democracy instead of race.

  • Posted By: Phillyluvbug @ 11/06/2008 2:06:19 PM

Overall, I hope that our nation can be brought together and just live amongst each other as human beings, and not black & white, Asian or Indian. There are alot of racist individuals on here, and that is what Obama is trying to change for OUR NATION. We all live here together and should be able to do it with the respect for others. It is time for a change, the negativity is over bearing, and draining. If you love the country so much, why keep the racial barriers up? If we all Unite, we can make this land a better place to be. This is supposed to be the land of opportunity, that is why people from other countries want to be here. What example do they have with all this hatred going on? It starts at home people!

The Americans are violently oral. That's why in America the mother is all-important and the father has no position at all -- isn't respected in the least. Even the American passion for laxatives can be explained as an oral manifestation. They want to get rid of any unpleasantness taken in through the mouth.
    W. H. Auden (1907-1973)

How sad to know how much ignorance is there in "United States", the country of " Freedom" does not exist.

  • Posted By: Merlin58 @ 11/06/2008 2:22:04 PM

Mrs. Obama will do just fine, during this transition period. What impressed me the most was her willingness to talk to all, and any other women who have made similar journey's. She is making her children (and mother), a priority for herself and the President-elect, to add as much stability to their lives as is possible, given the huge challenges ahead. The important thing for the rest of us is to give them some time to get their acts together. Some of the most stressful things in anybodies life is to move, change jobs, and get married. The Obama's have the first two coming up in a huge way. Let's give them some space and see what they do in the next hundred days. As usual, actions speak louder than words. Jef Quinnell.

If God is a registered voter then he had something to do with Obamas election otherwise I dont think so . I hope God sends a message to Obama to do something about illegal immigration . It happens to be the biggest reason america is bankrupt . I hope Obama is the right man at the right time . Only time will tell . He has his hands full . You dont think OPEC had anything to do with those gas prices being the highest in history 60 days before the election do you .
