Not everyone concerned about Obama are racist. I AM NOT A RACIST. I am concerned about his views, his extreme liberal leanings and his interest in the socialist party. I know alot of you are so young you have not seem many acceptance speeaches by the president elect. BUT NEVER IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COOUNTRY has a president given this speech alon on the stage without his fmaily behind him. Even the very elite, liberal historians and writers, likeJohn Meechem, commented on how cult like this whole thing looked. IT WAS SCARY. I see HITLER. I mean it, it is scary. I hope once in office, he realizes his role, and is cautious. THIS IS NOT A BLACK THING< THIS IS A PHILOSOPHICAL view that is scaring alot of the conservatives. I am only conservative on fiscal, and size of govt. BUsh was sooo liberal on social issues, he ruined the country. But his guy may end up worse.

Sorry folks, I voted for McCain out of loyalty and respect of his lifetime service to America. I am a retired 26 year militay man. I have voted republican all my life. I would have voted for Colin Powell no matter what ticket he ran on. I almost switched my vote when he came out for President Obama. It was a very difficult decision. However being from Alaska, I was swayed by my loyalty to Gov. Palin. Now that the craziness of this campaign is over and the best man won. We as a people must be like two boxers at the end of a twelve round fight, hug, shake hands at say "next time" and go about building on the present results and the future. There is always trash talk at the buildup of the fight. The fight is over we (Republicans), lost, stop the trash talk. As for the First Lady give her a break, not all women can be runway models. I am a white middleclass male who is part of the silent majority. I wouldn't even be answering this if I hadn't read the "splash of gas" in some of the comments. I have always believed in taking care of my troops first. In the military I only saw OD Green. I hope all of America only sees the office of the President being filled by a man who was elected by the people, of the people, for the people and give him a shot at the title.

Thank You for your service and you are so AWESOME! ! ! ! !

despite not having voted for him, i think obama is a intelligent, statesman a good family man who will do what is right for our country. he has a beautiful family and it will be nice watching his family grow up in hte next years and we all must pull together now to solve this country's toughest issues>>>economy, war and health care.

  • Posted By: joe the bummer @ 11/06/2008 1:10:31 PM

    Look-
I am as displeased with the president elect as any conservative-but he was elected fairly (from the electoral college at least!) and now we gotta give the guy a chance before we write him off as another tax and spend liberal. Given his platform its 100% accurate to say there is no way he will be our best president; but he could suprise us and do quite well.
For those that remember bitterly Michelle's incendiary remarks and feel compelled to spew vitreal back at her try to be tolerant of her as well; after all-some of her choice nasty remarks came at times during the campaign that victory for the Obama team was a distant dream whilst the reality of the racial barrier was in full swing.
I dread the coming days. I don't see how someone who has told so many proven lies could be good for us. But he was elected, he's gonna be president, and how new is the concept of a dishonest politician? He's not the first to lie and woulden't be the first that lied that still went on to do well. We all need to rally behind our leaders in these times-no matter what our affiliation-just watch the man carefully and most of all have a plan to deal with him if he does indeed turn out to be a real dud.

    • Posted By: tri626 @ 11/06/2008 1:29:17 PM

The true DUD will be exiting the White House soon. He has caused enough turmoil in this country and have gone on with his own agenda to assure a happy retirement. I doubt the majority of people will be enjoying the "sweet" life like the Bush's and Cheney's! No doubt your song will change when things change. Typical Republican!!

      • Posted By: joe the bummer @ 11/06/2008 2:08:48 PM

        Tri626-
I could not agree with you more about Bush-excuse me-"bush" being a dud as well. Even my party has propped up some real losers from time to time. I just have the sinking feeling that the dems are now 3 for 3 in regard to voting in losers. I hope not and am prepared to give Obama a chance; I'll try not to over scrutinize him-I'm only human and the first botched abortion that results in a delivered child being "legally" murdered will bring the brunt of my efforts to call for the man's impeachment; but until them so long as he doesn't screw up or screw us too bad I'll rally behind him. That's all I'd ask of you if I elected someone you didn't want in office... Fair enough?

    • Posted By: wgoin @ 11/06/2008 1:17:03 PM

To Joe the bummer: There are no "proven lies" that Obama has told. Unlike McCain/Palin, Obama based his campaign on positive remarks and plans. He did not spew hatred - as did McCain/Palin. He pressed for positive changes and, if we are fortunate, he will get to make them. I am looking forward to the coming days when we can go forward with a positive program and get aways from the lies and deceit of Bush and his cronies.

      • Posted By: joe the bummer @ 11/06/2008 2:02:59 PM

You need to re-read my post-
It was his wife that I said spewed vitral-and that is indisputable. And I also hinted that most people would given how their campaign was going at the time. As for the lies there are numerous sources that one coa find online that attest to the fact that Obama lied from big things like campaign funding to the mundane such as whether or not he was a smoker. Google "Obama AntiChrist " and you can read a list of 75 of them. For the record I don't think he is the AntiChrist; but I was worried at one point since he meets quite a bit of the "criteria."

      • Posted By: time2work @ 11/06/2008 1:33:27 PM

to wgoin-you must not have listened to the Rick Warren Forum at Saddleback-Do yourself a favor and really listen and you will understand. Mr Obama never gave a straight answer on anything.

Comment: TO ALL OF THE RACIST OF THE WORLD...HE IS THE NEXT PRESIDENT. WATCH WHAT YOU SAY BECAUSE YOU MAY GET YOURSELF JAMMED UP ON HERE AND END UP UNDER FEDERAL INVESTIGATION. PRISON DOESN'T LOOK TO GOOD NOWAYDAYS.

I'd just like to point out to everyone saying Obama was born in Kenya... he wasn't. Or he couldn't have run for the presidency. You have to be born in the US to run for president. Obama was born in Hawaii to a Kenyan father. Oy.

I'm a McCain supporter and even I know that much. Carry on.

    • Posted By: richardsimpson63 @ 11/06/2008 1:44:26 PM

Wow, the ingnorance of people, if a child is born to an american citizen in another country, that child is still an american citizen by birth, and Obama WAS born in Kenya, get your facts straight.

      • Posted By: OC K.A.T. @ 11/06/2008 2:08:43 PM

Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to a Kenyan father and an American mother.

Racist/racism will always be here...number one because people will not leave it behind. The news stations, TV shows (like Oprah), etc will continue to "pump it up". I look at people as people - not as a color. People should be judged on character and not color. When people talk about racism, they forget that when they vote or don't vote for someone just because of the color of his skin, that also is racist. I look at black history as that - "history". I don't hold things against people because of what happened many, many years ago...that's why we call it "history". Rember...this whole country/world would be alot better if a person was judged by his character - not looks or whether they tend to "speak what they think"...AND...both Obama and McCain seem to have forgotten that the President of this great country can not do anything without the approval of Congress...almost as much as even just signing his name.

For the so called Christian who didnt believe God chose Obama and he was goint to sit back and watch us self destruct, you are very ignorant. First thing, God works through his people. He also help people who help themselves. Wake up! Stop dreaming and read the Bible again. God would never sit back and watch his people self destruct, but the devil would intervene into a so called Christians' mind do make a dumb stupid remark about God's work. May God be with you, Please grant this person wisdom knowledge and understanding.

    By Peggy Wallace Kennedy
    Special to CNN
Editor's note: Peggy Wallace Kennedy is the daughter of George C. Wallace and Lurleen Wallace, who both were governors of Alabama. She lives in Montgomery, Alabama, with her husband, Mark Kennedy, a retired state Supreme Court justice. They have two sons, Leigh, a decorated veteran of the Iraq war, and Burns, a college sophomore.
MONTGOMERY, Alabama (CNN) -- I heard a car door slam behind me and turned to see an elderly but spry woman heading my way.
The night before, a gang of vandals had swept through the cemetery desecrating graves, crushing headstones and stealing funereal objects.
My parents' graves, situated on a wind-swept hill overlooking the cemetery, had not been spared. A large marble urn that stood between two granite columns had been pried loose and spirited away, leaving faded silk flowers strewn on the ground.
I was holding a bouquet of them in my arms when the woman walked up and gave me a crushing hug. "Honey," she said, "you don't know me, but when I saw you standing up here on this hill, I knew that you must be one of the girls and I couldn't help myself but to drive up here and let you know how much me and my whole family loved both of your parents. They were real special people."
I thanked her for her kind words as we stood side by side gazing down at the graves of Govs. George Wallace and Lurleen Wallace.
After a few moments, the woman leaned into me and spoke almost in a conspiratorial whisper. "I never thought I would live to see the day when a black would be running for president. I know your daddy must be rolling over in his grave."
Not having the heart or the energy to respond, I gave her bony arm a slight squeeze, turned and walked away. As I put the remnants of the graveyard spray in the trunk of my car, I assumed that she had not bothered to notice the Barack Obama sticker on my bumper.

Bush had 8 years to make a positve change in American lives. Not only did he fail at making a positive change, he was at the helm for a negative change. Unless you are in the top 1% in income earning, you cant afford to be a republican-as yes, you can thank Mr. Bush for that.

Our new President elect Barack Obama and our new First Lady Michelle Obama have family values I respect. To hear how First Lady Michelle Obama is including her mother really warmed my heart. To hear that her mother is a support and encouragement to the grandchildren is as American as baseball, apple pie and moms. Although, I have never had the honor of visiting the White House, nor do I know the parameters that our First lady;s have in decorating, I hope that the girls have their rooms in the White House decorated just the way they want so they will feel at home.

Comment: Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah...thank God the election is over! I am ecstatic over the amount of votes that were put into this election. This means there are people in this country who still believe in a cause, a purpose. We all have friends or family members in our lives that we don't always agree with - we don't stop believing in them, we don't stop uplifting them when they need it. The same goes for Bush and Obama. Many of you may not agree with Bush's strategy or tactics...I think he believed in a purpose, a cause for his actions. I don't condemn him, I still support his efforts. Obama...I may not agree with everything he is bringing to the table, but I will support him, because he is our President and I have a great respect for him. His family is like any other American family and we should be praying for them as they step into this role and for a sound adjustment for their girls. This is hugely impacting their little lives. Sadly, this should not have been a race issue, which seems to be loudly portrayed here...our nation will always be divided with those simple mindsets. ..remember the pledge of allegiance? ...One Nation under God...INDIVISIBLE...are you listening? It is what it is, whether you voted for Obama or McCain. Now, it's a choice of attitude for each of us, time for us grab up our own reigns and responsiblitles by asking ourselves: "NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY". For those of who fear the President just because he is black, shame on you. For those of you whose anger rises against the whites because of the election, shame on you, too. Look at your kids, your families, THEY are our future. We need to teach them to live peacefully. You know who our biggest enemy is? EACH OTHER.
Romes01... Good for you, finally someone who seems to have a level of maturity regarding this whole thing. I will continue to pray for the leadership of our great nation.

I hope and pray this Michelle Obama (who moves in the White House) is not the Michelle who thinks "this is a down right mean country" or the Michelle who wrote how America suppresses people like Michelle wrote in her senior year at Princeton.

I pray Michelle, Malia and Sasha find a church that preaches the Bible and not prejudices that they were exposed to under Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. and Rev. Otis Moss III.

So inspiring to see somebody who is not so "angry".. We should ALL take our anger and turn it into positive energy to help others and be at peace.

Making a major move, in one's family is very daughting, and nerveracking....evne if it's just a few hours away...it's still a major move. There are always things unantcipated, and having young children, lots of issues to be cautious about.
I can't imagine moving into the White House, and resettleing into Washinton, D.C.
I wish the best for the Obamas, as this is truely a major transiton in their lives.
Best Wishes as they take on this incredible job, relocation and todays issues given to them.

To Chris, The first time I was ever ashamed of my country was when I discovered that the United States intentionally exposed Marshallese people to radioactive fallout in order to study the effects of radiation poisoning. Children contracted cancers, women gave birth to boneless "jelly fish babies". The U.S. government supported that experimentation. The fact is, no country is perfect, not even america, and plagueing it with bias attitude such as yours only adds to the imperfection. Rather than trying to achieve and grow, you project negative energy at the world. Dig a little deeper in your country's history. I think you will be disappointed. Then stop with the boo-hooing, and try to make this world a better place. Michelle Obama will work hard to make our world a better place.

  • Posted By: keepthefaith @ 11/06/2008 2:05:58 PM

We are doomed. 80% of the U.S. Population only voted for color...not what the person can acutally do. P.S. Oprah....I lost alot of respect for you, Your interview on the news was horrible, talk about a racist...look in the mirror! The best part of the election was to see how the news "panned" to different parts of the U.S. for coverage and most people that they showed were....black. I myself an African American, not black, not white, etc...it's just very sad to see that people voted on color...no one voted on change, they voted on color! You thought 911 was bad...I can just image to see what's in store for the world come the new year.

Americans refer to Presidents by last name all of the time, which I am sure we all of "guilty" of doing; ie: Bush, Clinton, Reagan, Carter...etc. Looking for 'anything' to find a place to condemn? I guess you found it. Second, watermelon is an American favorite; especially during 4th of July celebrations...maybe Blacks are more patriotic! Third, to say that uneducated Blacks will not relate to Mrs. Obama is ludicrous! (Uneducated Whites relate to Mrs. McCain...especially the meth heads arrested for a plot on President OBAMA...can you say that one yet? PRESIDENT OBAMA...) LOL (I bet that sends you into waves of shaking rage).

And while you are talking about respect, how can you demand of someone what you fail to do? Obviously, your habit of deragatory, rude and KNOWINGLY misleading rhetoric of racial bigotry seems to remain, and yes, it is time to stop. Change has come. (Even Jesus said in the Bible: "In the last days, the first will be last and the last will be first...) Go figure...Oh, but He is a Jew, so, I guess you hate Him too. (Or will you claim "Christianity" with hate in your heart?

I voted OBAMA and YES WE DID!
