Thank you for your kind words.
Doc- you're right! It's better now. However, I knew that when President Obama was elected some people true colors were coming out. It's like you didn't want it to happen but knew it would.
Well, they're so shocked, they're finally showing themselves for what they really are. This is a good thing; they have cast off all the rationalizations and backhanded arguments, and are now exposed in the light of day.
Their credibility is now shot; they have revealed themselves to be bitter and hate-driven. Who will listen to that nonsense? Nobody.
After everything I have read here over the past 2 days, I must admit that I may have been wrong. I now have just one thing to say: GO OBAMA!!!!
Peace!
BelindaK- As I stated before racist still exist more than ever and it is really sad
I disagree. Things are much better than they were 50 years ago, and FAR better than 100 years ago.
Racists are marginalized, these days. It's just that they have really big mouths, so they get noticed.
It has really made my heart sad to see the things that have been written here. I just don't understand....
Not Angry...........just realistic my friend.
Naw. You're an angry little bigot who is furious that a Black man is president.
It shows in every post you make, Bubba.
Let me guess..........hmmm....your black.
Nope. Sorry, Bubba.
Why are we all dismissing the fact that Obama???s mother is white? He is bi/multi-racial man not a black man.
I'm going to say this to you and let you go. First of all I have both my father and mother who are both in my life. I am married and both of my children have both parents living in the same home. What I think is that you're young, dumb and full of it! I'm very proud to be Negro, African American and all that! I have bi-racial children and a mixture of other races throughout my family. This is how we were raised, to look beyond COLOR and this is what my children are taught and it will pass to the next generation! Maybe someday you will forgive yourself for your stupidity and learn how to become mature in your ways. it's not hard. Just like you learned to be racist and stupid, you can learn how to become someone with sense. Maybe one day... there is still hope for you! Please don't have any children right now your mind is still cloudy and it wouldn't be healthy for them. If you already have children my heart goes out to them.
"I'm going to say this to you and let you go. First of all I have both my father and mother who are both in my life. I am married and both of my children have both parents living in the same home. You are the future. Mycle is the past. That is all.
Thank you, my friend
You are the idiot! I do have a wonderful father. It isn't my fault that your father isn't around and that you are a negro. Maybe someday you can come to grips with all of this. Moron.
I used to hold similar prejudices against the different races of our United States. Luckily, I have the fortune to work with different companies w/in the 5 largest cities in America. Spending time in those cities, and working w/ an array of the public, I've been able to shed those prejudices and stereotypes.
If you look at the numbers in the cities, and in rural America, you'll be surprised w/ the similarities in poverty between white and black folk. Technically, the number of Whites on government assistance programs, unwed mothers, and welfare cases are LARGER than that of Blacks. Although, the percentage in the Black community is larger per capita, the overall number shows that there are far more whites "milking" the system.
Now, as thinking adults, we should not generalize. To stereotype an entire population of America would be a symptom of a very small mind. When we begin to allow our minds to become so shallow, it's up to us to journey into new frontiers.....or, we can allow ourselves to become racist bigots, which kills our own humanity. The numbers of successful Black and White families I've encountered has totally shed any prejudices that I once held.
You're an angry little fellow, aren't you?
Oh, for heaven's sake, grow up little boy.
I have to be honest. I know there is still a lot of racism in the world. I was raised by rather racist parents, but have always had the good sense to judge the people I meet by their behavior, not the color of their skin. My personal opinion has always been that the "N" word should be used to describe a type of person rather than the color of a person. And I have known just as many white ones as black.
Nonetheless, I have been truly shocked that true out-and-out, blatant, in-your-face racism still exists. I really, honestly didn't know. I don't participate in many of these online type of things, but have learned so much from this. Unfortunately, not all of it has been good. I have certainly had my eyes opened a bit. May God forgive all of you who harbor so much hate and anger in your hearts.
Don't let 'em get you down. Racist pinheads like mycle39 are very vocal, which might lead you to believe that they are more prevalent than they are.
They are the left behind, bitter remnants of the 1950s. They are those that were determined to keep Blacks down so that at least SOMEONE would be lower than them in the eyes of society. Those days are gone, now, and folks like mycle39 are just an anachronism; a reminder of the darker side of American history.
Mycle39 is interesting as a rather ugly curiosity; only this, and nothing more.
Everybody needs to just shut up with the blaming, racism, condescending bad jokes and be grateful for fresh air and the job that they have now. If you hate the way politics are run. maybe you "the complainer" needs to run for public office and see how people turn on you and srutinize your children and family. See how it feels, and I guarantee you will have a change of heart when it comes to preconceived biases. KNOWLEDGE IS POWERFUL. IT'S OBVIOUS BECAUSE WE HAVE A RHODES SCHOLAR IN CHARGE OF THE COUNTRY. SO SHUT THE BLANK UP AND GET BACK TO WORK...YOUR BOSS IS WATCHING.
People !!! Look at the STATISTICS on ALL VOTES throughout America, you will see that predominately and statisically it was not ONLY Black votes nor ONLY White votes that lead this great country to a victory !! It was all votes from ALL PEOPLE !!!! Not ONLY Black and not ONLY White, BUT ALL ! For the record ...... there is more "White" (80%) in USA then there are any other race. GOD !!!! STOP THIS BICKERING !!!
As I read it 97% of blacks voted black, without regard to party or platforms. I think that number speaks louder than anything. Was this election about race, yes I believe it was!
Blacks are the minority retard.
Not anymore, and what an adult comment... "retard"? Would you like a link to a thesaurus?
OOH, DID I OFFEND YOU RETARD?
Wrong. They are still a minority. Do you know that Africa is a continent? Palin didn't and I have a feeling you don't either.
Blacks always support the Democratic ticket, regardless of the race of the candidate. Try again.
And when the Irish vote for the Irish, or the Catholics for a Catholic. nobody makes a big deal about that...but let Blacks vote for Blacks and somehow THEY are suspect...open your eyes and your mind.
As I read it 97% of blacks voted black, without regard to party or platforms. I think that number speaks louder than anything. Was this election about race, yes I believe it was!
Black people always support the Democratic ticket no matter the race of the candidate. Blacks voted overwhelmingly for John Kerry and he's as white as they come. Next.
Did you check the percentage of white voters for the since George Washington? IGNORANCE once again
I never thought that in my lifetime, Americans would elect a person to be the president of the United States that has never fought for this country in one of the United States Armed Forces or did not pay their dues to the people of this country as a public servant and has no proven track record as a leader.
At my job I am the only minority. There are 2 other people and myself that are McCain supporters. All of the other ???white??? people voted for Obama. I have to say none of them could debate the issues with me intelligently. They truly didn???t know why they were voting Democrat except for the fact that it was the popular thing to do; it scares me that the people of this country can be so easily coerced by the media and celebrity status of an individual.
I guess the bottom line is that Obama is going to be our president and I hope that he is successful, because if he fails we all fail.
So what have we been doing since Bush was in office?? Falling
Actually, Bush has been protecting America...there have been no terrorist attacks since Sep 11. Clinton had terrorist attacks every two years (you could set your watch by it), yet he consistently did nothing to stop the attacks. If Barack has a successful Presidency it won't be because of his policies (history shows that they consistently fail), his success will only be because of the color of his skin. He was elected, that was his one and only shining moment...now its 4 years of proven failed policies.
Damn right Bush protected this country after 9-11. I think we have all forgotten about that. There are plenty of countries out there that would love to see the US fall from grace. We need a president that will be tough not play nice.
Yeah, he protected us alright. What happened to punishing the terrorist that attacked the US on 911? Bush got so side tracked with taking care of his Daddy's old issues; he took care of the Sadam/Iraq issue but too bad he totally forgot about BIN LADEN! You will be happy to know that he and his family will retire in fine fashion with the blood of many on their hands!!!
Thank you Tri626!
After 9-11 we the people screamed for justice and revenge, do you remember that? We are still there so the terrorism is not brought back to our door steps. I have lived most of my life in third world countries and believe me I love the secure state of our nation right now.
Yeah, so where's my revenge? Osama Bin Ladin is still out there, laughing at us.
Bush failed. End of story.
Why is this becoming an issue about Bush?
Let the truth be told that you're a liar and the truth is not in you! President Barack Obama was not chosen because of his skin color! I have you to know that he will run the country and run it well! make sure you have your apology letter written when you see how dumb you look. Point is- your only mad because you candidate didn't win. Now that's the truth told!
WOW! You are completely delusional. According to the black lady on CNN, who was asked if race was a factor in her vote, she emphatically said YES. If Barack's skin was white, he would still be knocking on doors as an unemployed man...oops, I mean community organizer. How can he run the country well when he's never run or accomplished anything? I'm not apologizing; Barack should be apologizing for palling around with one of the FBI's ???Ten Most Wanted???.
Need I say Keating FIve????
Okay, I'm dumb. LOL. What is Keating Five?
As a matter of fact President Barack Obama has accomplished alot. I guess having degrees and being well educated, Mc Cain was a POW who cheated on his wife and left her because she wasn't pretty enough - I mean where's the loyalty. Palin needed to stay home and take care of her children not running around in the white house.
so because one black person stated that they voted for him because of his color doesn't speak for all black people. So explain why whites, hispanics, asian, etc voted for him. You are upset and it's ok! Get over it because your candidate didn't win! time heals all wounds
What is your policy Mr. not the President of the United States/not even a darn congressman?
You are too Republican to see and know what is looking at you in your racist face!
What does Bush have to do with this; did you see his name on your ballot? Trust me it took longer than the past eight years to get this country in its financial situation. Our 275 billion dollar (and growing) trade deficit with China didn???t happen in that time frame. What about lenders lowering their credit standards for home buyers that couldn't afford to buy in the first place, do you think that is Bush???s fault too? Did someone say Clinton? You must believe that taxing companies is going to be a good move; even though companies are letting people go left and right. Great, yes lets tax them some more so then they really can't afford to keep us Americans employed and will be forced to keeping outsourcing our work.
This is a prime example of the media gibberish and people believing everything they hear. What???s the point all we can do is hope that Obama picks the right people for his cabinet to help him through this.
George Bush never served, in fact he went AWOL. Neither did Dick Cheney. McCain gave up information to the Vietnamese. Get your facts straight.
BC077, you wrote @ 11/06/2008 10:15:51 PM: " I never thought that in my lifetime, Americans would elect a person to be the president of the United States that has never fought for this country in one of the United States Armed Forces or did not pay their dues to the people of this country as a public servant and has no proven track record as a leader."
First of all, a great many of our presidents (including Lincoln) did not served in the military. The whole idea of the presidency as conceived by the Founders & Framers is that it be held by a civilian, and military experience is not a prerequisite. You may have a preference for that, why I cannot understand, but it is only your personal preference.
Second, what's this about paying dues as a public servant? What kind of dues are you talking about? Working in a disadvantaged community to help people there get the education and job training they need instead of going to work in a Wall Street law firm is not paying dues as a public servant? Several terms in the Illinois state legislature is not paying dues as a public servant? Serving in the US Senate and (among other things) getting the strongest ethics bill ever written enacted is not paying dues as a public servant?
Having done all three of those things, president-elect Obama has not only paid plenty of dues as a public servant, he has demonstrated his respect and dedication to public service in ways few others have.
And third, his leadership in the Democratic Party, his campaign, and his transition team have been and still are on display for everyone to see. He clearly takes every aspect of his role as leader with the utmost seriousness, as evidenced in (as just one example) the small detail of making sure the puppy he has promised his daughters is adopted from a shelter.
On top of all this, he taught constitutional law at the college level for many years, which speaks volumes about his deep and abiding respect for, and knowledge of, the Constitution of the United States of America.
Supporting, upholding, and defending that sacred document is the only thing a president is required to swear to, and for the first time in a long time we can have complete confidence that Barack Obama will faithfully fulfill that oath.
It is a personal preference for me and many Americans, especially for those of us that are directly affected by the two wars going on. My brother is in Iraq fighting to keep us safe here in our homes. Yes I have military history in my family, my dad and uncle both fought in WWII. There is something to be said about a candidate for the presidency that has served and fought for the country they want to lead.
I never said a bad thing about President-Elect Obama, all I said is that he is green. Yes he has done quite a bit for his state, and no doubt educated, but he is a first term senator after all. Teaching and doing are two different things. The personalized service he has been able to provide his state is going to be a thing of the past. The president is going to have an entire Nation to care for. I???ve said it once already; I hope that he picks the right people for his cabinet to help him through this.
"It is a personal preference for me and many Americans, especially for those of us that are directly affected by the two wars going on."
Not enough Americans. McCain lost the election fair and square.
" My brother is in Iraq fighting to keep us safe here in our homes."
No he isn't. Iraq was never a threat to the USA. Your brother, I regret to say, is fighting for Halliburton's bottom line. I hope he comes home safe (and soon). We've lost too many kids over there to satisfy a corporation's greed. The best of luck to him.
Fair enough. I hope we never have to experience another 9-11 and I hope that we Americans don't let our guard down.
Iraq had nothing to do with 911. Obviously, Afghanistan is a different story, and we didn't give them HALF the kicking around they deserved.
Well, I wish I worked in your office because I could have deabted the issues with you. To think that people voted for someone because it was the popular thing to do in shallow and narrow minded. President Obama is intelligent, filled with integrity, charisma and as eloquent as they come. He is interested in the good of all Americans. Mr. McCain could not even handle his own campaign and the people that ran it and you want to hand the country over to him. Grow up.
You are in denial if you think that this election had nothing to do with popularity or race (on both sides). Why would you tell me to grow up? There is no need for insults. I will back Obama because he will be our president. I based my vote on my beliefs and they are the same as McCain???s; not to mention he fought for this country and that is proof to me that he would have continued to do so in every way. He is a proven leader, and great man. Did you listen to his Concession Speech, his nothing short of honorable? Insulting him would put you at the same level as some of the people in this forum that insult Obama.
My issue with Obama is just his un-proven track record as a public servant. The president is a servant to the people of this country after all. I don???t agree with his financial plan among a few other things. I have never been unemployed before and in 2007 my company let me go because they couldn???t afford my salary, I was out of work for 9 months even though I have a BA in accounting. I can???t see the benefit of increasing payroll taxes for companies. They will be forced to continue outsourcing our work or shut there doors all together.
I don???t disagree Obama is a very intelligent man, a motivational speaker and it appears that he does care for this country. At this point we are all hoping that his lack of experience will not be an issue. Keep in mind though, if you are following the news, he is picking Clintons old people. That is not starting off with change, is it?
"I never thought that in my lifetime, Americans would elect a person to be the president of the United States that has never fought for this country in one of the United States Armed Forces or did not pay their dues to the people of this country as a public servant and has no proven track record as a leader. "
1. We've elected plenty of people with no military background, and many with less governmental history than Obama.
2. Why do you need a leader? Is this North Korea? The president is the chief executive, not an emperor. Real Americans lead themselves.
GOODNESS what is all this bashing and name calling getting not one thing nothing has or will change untill we all dem , Rep, black or white and even hispanic learn too live together and work for one thing and thats to make this country better
Now with that said I didn't vote for either one didn't feel in my heart either deserved to be my president because all of the goverment is liers and crooks
now well say the one thing Iam happy about Obama getting elected is for years all you hear is how whites hold down blacks from good jobs and all they can do is work in the baby making factory too get more welfare
well now those days are over a black has the say now so they can get a real job pay their own rent and not wait on Opras check and all the other rich bubbies of Obamas that hes going too spread the wealth from it can go to the older people that worked all their life and really tried to make it but needs a little help because their S.S. CHECKS doesn't meet these days cost of living but couldn't get help because there was to many young people working on baby making line and other people coming here for the goverments free hand out I pray Obama changes all that and cuts all the pay checks in goverment and free vacations
I'm sure you're trying to make a coherent point, but your lack of punctuation is making this tough to take seriously.....amongst other things. But, let's start w/ the punctuation.
Who are you talking to?
I'm responding to "old fart".
LOL!!!
So are blacks the only ones on welfare, can't get jobs, having babies left and right, killing each other??? Is that what you're saying?
Yes, blacks are always looking for a handout. They are always looking for a "free ride". It has to end!
You should really check your numbers on this issue. Actually, there are more Whites on government assistance programs than Blacks.
Of course, I'M NOT judging the entire White population on this. But if I LACKED the rationale to do so, I'd probably come to your similar conclusion....about Whites.
It is very nice to hear that the First Lady Elect's first priority is the adjustment for their Children and to maintain as much a normal type of upgringing for the Girls. Having their Grandmother close by or present in the children's lives will be a great nuturing process that I amsure in time the girls will learn to apppreciate. I
further believe that Michelle will have a lot less free time on her calendar than she believes. Also her Political Role and committment will be much greater then she has ever experienced before. I feel confident she will
do her very best to represent this Country with the grace and intelligence of a first lady and what is expected of her. I am not familar with her education and experience she has had in Punlic Life other than the Senator
from Illinois wife. Two years ago not many people from outside the State of Illinois had any prior knowledge on the Obama background. She didn't have the exposure or experience of a Jackie Kennedy, but Jackie in my opinion would be a good example of a first lady to emulate. I will pray for them and their challenges they will be confronting in the next 4 years at a minimum. The Economy, the Iraq War and, Elimination of oil dependency of foreign oil are just some of the promises made by Barack Obama that will take a great deal
of Support from the House and Senate. Good Luck to you both on all your endeavors, this country is counting
on your success......Medical reform is also another huge challenge that will need changes.
And isn't it great to hear the American people will be paying for her to have her mom around! Because America has so much spare money right now! Redistribution of wealth you know..
News Flash DICKWAD!! Michelle and Barack has money that they worked hard for. I highly doubt your uneducated butt would be paying their rent. Your a bitter dickwipe that needs medication for your uncurable disease. Get out the freaking back woods and get educated.
Do you really think that one lone elderly woman is going to have any impact on the household expenses of the White House? Many, many people have Grandma or Grandad living with them these days. They don't want to leave her alone in Chicago. How petty can you get?
Oh, please.... grow up. Now step into the real world.... very slowly now.... you can do it. I didn't vote for Obama, but you are just a nasty, sore loser.
Yes, you do see a number of black children without fathers. And I also know for a fact that there are many black men who father numerous babies outside of marriage. However, you are taking this notion and applying it to all black people. Do your homework. I am a white, middle-aged woman from an upper-middle class family. I have been struck by the fact that many of the younger members of my extended family have had children outside of marriage. These are kids who have been raised in 2 parent homes, properly educated and given all of the advantages possible. I believe fatherless children are more a product of today's permissive society, rather than a racial issue. Are there welfare moms? Of course. Does that mean that all single moms are welfare moms? Of course not. If you go to the site that shows the worst non-paying fathers (I believe it was FBI, but not sure) you will see that most of them are white. Why must everyone be judged by their "group"? Why can't we all be judged by our own merits? Again, I am a Republican, but I would hate to be grouped and labelled along with the losers on this site that can't raise any real issues, just make nasty comments. I want to be judged because I try to be a good person and do the right thing.
This comment is directed to sd69. Get your facts straight. The man is not African-American. He's of Muslim descent. That is QUITE different. Wake up and smell the coffee! You and the rest of this country should be shotting in our pants! Remember 9/11? Guess the color of someone's skin is more important than the good of this country!
Islam is a religion, not a race.
Obama is an American, who has an African father. This, of course, would make him an American of African descent. Hence the term "African-American".
I don't understand the confusion.
Here's the confustion. Obama not an African American as advertised. Usually, an African American is someone born in Africa. He promotes himself as either black or African American when it suits his purpose as in obtaining minority votes. Obama???s Mother was a white woman from Kansas. His father was a Kenyan who abandoned his family after only two years of marriage and returned to Africa. He was raised by his white mother and Grandmother in Hawaii. Obama, himself admits that his mother and grandmother were "the dominant figures in my formative years and where I developed my character and core values???
You're kidding, right? 12% of America's population is African-American. The term "African-American" is used to describe an American w/ African ancestry. I think you may have your terms mixed up.
And, when filling out certain applications, the GOVERNMENT requires one to list his race. There is no checkbox for "AMERICAN" on any government application.
Oh man...does your family know you a dimwit????
Islam is a religion, not a race or a country. Obama is a Christian.
mycle39- the only denial is that you don't have your father in your life and it's hard for you right now. That's ok. move on. Oh, you're an idot!
spare me!
It is fact. Look at the inner cities. Look at the fact that Black children never seem to have fathers. Even Obama didn't know his own father and Thank God for all of us he was raised by whites or else we would really be in trouble. Sorry, but the truth hurts dosn't it.
Yes, you do see a number of black children without fathers. And I also know for a fact that there are many black men who father numerous babies outside of marriage. The way I see it, all of so called Democrats have had your fun at putting down McCain and Palin throughout the primary. All of you had your fun at putting down the eight years of BushMonkey. Now, after the election is over, everyone agrees that a woman(any woman Black or White) is not smart enough to be V.P. let alone President. Now, we have the Democrats who won the office and Congress, so it is open season to pick on them for four years. It seems that the rules have changed during the presidental race. So Obama is elected and everyone will just have to get use to all of the remarks negitive or positive. Obama is fair game to all freedom of speech.
You are absolutely right. Liberals have torn down Bush's POLICIES for 8 years...not his race, nor his family.
There has been plenty of ammo to go after Mrs Bush (her abortion, and her killing of a fellow student in a drunk driving accident). And we could've gone after the Bush twins during their infamous "drunken whore" phase.
BUT, liberals only attacked policy.
For you to continue to attack the Obama's family and RACE.....well, you have to admit is animalistic in nature.
"Now, after the election is over, everyone agrees that a woman(any woman Black or White) is not smart enough to be V.P. let alone President."
No, not everyone agrees with that. Palin simply wasn't the right candidate. Welcome to the 21st century.
