Hi Howard - I greatly enjoy your work, especially your TV appearances. However, I GOT A BIG QUESTION TO ASK YOU: I bought the 'Obama Elected' issue - I was particularly interested in the major story, HOW HE DID IT. Now, I have to ask you - why only a passing mention of the tremendously important 3rd Debate? And why NO MENTION of the special 30-minute election "infomercial" a week before the election? Absolutely, Positively these were VERY IMPORTANT in the election towards the end. BUT PRACTICALLY NOTHING IS WRITTEN ABOUT THESE IN THE 'HOW HE DID IT' STORY. How in the heck did NEWSWEEK miss that?? How did NEWSWEEK drop this ball?? As excellent as most of the story was - your missing/deleting these things is nothing but shoddy journalism. I brought this up in my journalism class at UCLA, and I must tell you - they were laughing at the "holes big enough for a truck to drive through." So - why were these 2 things left out? Or - Is TIME a better magazine than you guys, for getting "the WHOLE story"?
Now for the Governing
As the glow of victory fades, here are some challenges that the Obama administration will have to take on right away.

The Idiot Neo-Cons think all the people who did not vote for Obama made a statement. The MAJORITY voted FOR Obama. The people who made a statement in this election are the ones in the Confederate states who turned Blue - THAT is a statement!

According to Idiot Neo-Cons, Obama while campaigning painted himself as a Messiah who can fix everything, so what - like McCain didn't? What a stupid comment by the Neo-Cons - ALL politicians campaigning sell themselves like they can fix everything. Heck, even Palin tried selling herself as a fix-it-all person.

The Idiot Neo-Cons have been sleeping, especially for the past 8 years. They need to do the human race a favor and go back to sleep. They whine how Obama has no governing experience. Bush had that experience which didn't mean a thing - look at the stupid and corrupt decisions he made.

Why is it such a big deal NOW for the majority of the political party in Congress not be the same political party as the President? Why was it okay for idiot Bush to have a Republican Congress his first term but it is a big deal for Obama to have a Democratic Congress? This country wouldn't be in half as much turmoil if idiot Bush wouldn't have had a Republican Congress. We needed a Congress in Bush's first term NOT to be too scared to stand up against the idiot and Cheney.

Unlike the 2004 election where the electoral vote put Bush in office, the results of this election is the PEOPLE'S choice. Leadership we can trust and be proud of, something we have not been able to do for 8 long years. Now we can walk with our heads held high. Positive attitudes and a true breath of fresh air. A good legacy to leave our children and grandchildren and generations to come. A legacy of promise, hope, and good-will is the story left behind from this election, not like the nightmare from the corrupt and idiotic Cheney/Bush Administration.

FINALLY, a positive future to look forward to. Thank Goodness - what a glorious, happy, encouraging, and hopeful time! Maybe now tolerance can be taught instead of hatred. I only pray the Lord watches over and protects Obama for his safety. The fact that most of the world agrees with the PEOPLE'S choice of this election should tell us something - the MAJORITY of us know what that is.

Too bad for McCain that Bush lied to the Hispanics that were hurriedly grouped up and registered as Republicans in 2000 and more so in 2004. If it were not for Bush's empty promises to the Hispanics, McCain would have done far better with this group.

Of course it is okay to talk with our enemies, more so long over-due. If ignoring a people and/or a country doesn't work - which has been proved for the past 8 years - we must try something different, we need to CHANGE. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. We HAVE to learn from history before it is too late.

Look Peeps,
Alright People,
Wow...that went nowhere fast. I thought the point of blogging was a rich world of ideas and exchanges. This looks like a teenage social scene with old grudges. I am 29 and praising God for the election of Obama. In case anyone has forgotten, the world is in turmoil and we as Christians need to reexamine our role in the post religious-war world. The reason Obama is so compelling (even if his rhetoric is a younger brother to MLK Jr's) is that he has ignited the fires of belief without confusing the church and the state. People get ready! The work has just begun. The responsibility belongs to us to raise families in love and respect. I suspect that the reason everyone on these blogs is so disrespectful is cuz they had no daddies! -

I am hoping that having Obama as President motivates many people to stop using race or circumstance as an excuse. It should remove all doubt. "YES we can!" has responsibility attached to it---- and Yes everyone should---- quit making and using those old excuses and get yourself to work.

I think it is stupid that Obama belives in abortion. Killing an innocent child is terrible; why not just give him/her up for adoption? I think that taxing the rich more is ridiculous because honestly if you are hard working, and you busted your butt for the career you have, you should be able to buy whatever you want whenever you want. Lazy people who dont have/want a job shouldnt get money for doing nothing all day every day. Im only 13, but I think that what Im saying is right.

And please how onoriginal can you be. Pointing out two typos shows what? That you have absoulutly nothing intelligent or original to add and thats the most you can do with your useless existence? Or were you merely trying to change the subject ( a republican move ) since you have nothing of substance to add and thats the only thing your intrested in is critiquing peoples posts. Don't be upset because you never made it to college and the unorignialtiy of searching comments for one or two mispelled words is the most you will ever do with your life.-

For mycle39. People vote when what they're voting for has some relevance to their lives. It stands to reason that many blacks don't vote, as they probably haven't seen where their vote would make a real difference in their lives. This time they did. I'm sorry that you're as old as you are and as unwise as you are.

Get real numbnuts, the only reason they came out in droves was because they wanted to get a black person in there. Did you hear the woman on the radio? It is so sad that some would say because Barack Obama was running that is why Blacks voted. I am a Black Woman and I have voted in every primary and general election since I became a registered voter. Praise god for all people black and white who finally stepped up for real change. Oh by the way this was ordained by God and he has a purpose in Barack Obama life and not only to lead but to bring all people together and do away with the racism, and level the playing field for ALL people. So, stop the negative and be apart of the solution and not the problem. UNITY & LOVE! Enough hatred has been flowing in this world.,

who say that McCain's strongest argument that he is a natural-born citizen is that he was born abroad to two U.S. citizens. The fact that he was born on a U.S. military base or in the Panama Canal Zone is of secondary importance, they say. Not everyone born on a U.S. military base or in the Canal Zone (during the period when it was under U.S. jurisdiction) has the right to U.S. citizenship.
Here is a more technical explanation for the different categories of U.S. citizenship:
1. Jus Soli. "Right of the land." Anybody born in the U.S. is a natural born citizen, with a clear right to be president.
2. Lex Soli. "Law of the land." People who acquire their citizenship through naturalization, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger. Experts agrees that these citizens are not "natural-born," and do not have the right to be president.
2. Jus Sanguinis. "Right of blood." Anybody born outside the U.S. to U.S. citizens has right to U.S. citizenship. My retired State Department informants believe that these children are also "natural born" and have the right to become president. So do Tribe and Olsen. But other constitutional lawyers, like Professor Duggin, say the issue is not clear cut. The constitution is ambiguous and the point has never been argued before the Supreme Court.
Normally, parents of children in the Jus Sanguinis category file a Form 240 Report of Birth to the local U.S. Consulate to establish the right to citizenship. For what it's worth, it does not seem that McCain's parents filed such a form. Looking through State Department records at the National Archives, I found numerous Forms 240 filed for children born in the Canal Zone in 1936, but no such form for Senator McCain. (The fact that his parents did not file the form does not mean that he is not a citizen, just that it could be a little more difficult to prove.) -

yeah......the colored people came out in droves. They didn't know any better and voted for Obama. The colored people havn't voted in years and all of a sudden a colored person runs for president and they are suddenly interested in voting. Figures
-
Posted By: MysticCobra @ 11/09/2008 1:08:31 AM
Yes, some people voted for Obama because he is black (acutally bi-racial) and there are also some people that didnt vote for Obama because he is black. Either way you look at it, it is racism and when voting, especially for the President of the USA, race should play no role in decision making. One should vote based soley on a candidates views and plans to improve our great nation. If you voted soley based on the color of the candidate's skin, then you are a racist.

And some of the people bashing Obama need to get their facts straight, Oh yeah you did such thourgh research that your positive he's a terriost yet you weren't able to research accurate poll results. The election was won 52% to 46 % not 48. 2 percent voted for neither. The final rsults were Obama 52% McCain 46% for popular vote. Obama won by 6% which you do reliaze is almost 10 million votes.
Also Popular vote is all well and good and he did win popular vote by around 10 million votes anyway but the election is run by electoral vote so theortically Obama did crush him. -

Comment: To all you crazy people telling other people to research Obamas background, claiming that Obama is not a U.S. citizen and that he gave some phony birth certificate ........ You people have obviously not done any research on John McCain. John McCain was not born in the united states, he was born in Panama. The Senate had to vote on wether or not his citizenship was in fact acceptable. The record of where in Panama he was actually born is missing, their are certain places in Panama where is he was in fact born he would not have acyual citizenship in the united states. So why had the record of where in Panama John McCain was born turned up missing? If you are going to even question Obamas citizenship and not question McCains when it actually had to pass through the senate wether or not he was eligible to run for predency your biased and insane. McCain was also linked to several people who were arrested for the watergate scandel. Anyone who questons Obama and not McCain as well is clearly bias and is only looking to find information that backs up there opinions and are not actually intrested in facts So do some research on McCain Obama haters.
Below is a paragraph from Fact Check however this information is also avaliable on numerous websites and in the senate archives .
There is no record
McCain's birth in the bound birth registers of the Panama Canal Zone Health Department, which are available for public inspection at the National Archives in College Park, Md. Here is a sample page from the August 1936 birth register.
While some people will no doubt seize on the missing birth record as evidence that McCain was not born in the Canal Zone, my own view is that it is probably a bureaucratic snafu. The combination of the birth announcement in the Panamanian American plus the McCain birth certificate plus the memories of his 96-year-old mother persuades me that the senator was indeed born inside the Canal Zone.
But that does not entirely end the constitutional debate. The question remains: how did McCain acquire his U.S. citizenship, by birth or by naturalization. Even though the 10-mile wide Canal Zone was effectively under American sovereignty between 1904 and 1979, when it was handed back to the Panamanians, it was not "in" the United States. Here is what a State Department manual on U.S. citizenship has to say about children born on U.S. military installations:
Despite widespread popular belief, U.S. military installations abroad and U.S. diplomatic or consular facilities are not part of the United States within the meaning of the 14th Amendment. A child born on the premises of such a facility is not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States and does not acquire U.S. citizenship by reason of birth

This man is a pragmatic, realist who will govern with much forethought as to benefitting the nation and it's citizenry (i.e. the common man) first and foremost. But all of you out there must NEVER forget that circumstances have changed drastically in our economy in the VERY last month of the campaign and not all previous commitments may be able to be met immediately. You MUST also remember that few commitments made by the previous administration to the citizens during its two campaigns were EVER kept at all. BE PATIENT and I guarantee you this man will be a GREAT PRESIDENT!!

While I may have reservations about Obama because he's never had to make a decision and stick with it (I don't consider voting yes or no with 99 others decision making), we do have to respect that he is our President and we ALL need to get behind him and work to make things better. If he truly is post-partisan and rules from the center, he could be very successful. If not, the partisan bickering will go on. He's at a crossroad. He has a large majority in both houses of Congress. Will he be moderate or radical. Keep in mind that the mid-term elections are only 2 years away.

The voting is now over. We have a new President. Now what? Time will tell as it has in the past of all other precidencies on whether Obama will be written down as a successful leader or not. We will see. I certainly hope for our incredible country that he will be successful. He certainly will need a lot of help and experience from others. He won't be able to do it alone.
I did not vote for President Obama. He did not present to me the experience needed to guide our precious country in this time of EXTREME need. Security for our great nation needs to be of the utmost concern!! Most defintely, the economy is a huge issue, but IFf the security of our nation is not strong, we won't need to worry about our economy! I hope and pray that he surrounds himself with people such as "John McCain" who have tremendous character and knowledge of how dangerous of a world we live in and that we make DAMN SURE that we keep this in the forefront.. We have been so fortunate to not have more 911 activity here on our own soil. The key word is FORTUNATE!! We need to work on keeping it that way for our children and their children!!
Just a quick question, maybe someone can answer this for me? How much DNA does it take to make you African American. If you have a WHITE mother and a BLACK father, doesn't that make you BI-RACIAL? Just curious, maybe if you have just one minut drop of "African American" blood it makes you Full blooded African American?? Just curious? To me President Obama is Bi-Racial. He is not full blooded African American, so why do we keep saying he is AFRICAN AMERICAN? Are we wo DESPERATE as a nation that we can't call it like it is. I don't get it.
God bless President Obama - I sincerely mean it. He has every "Special Interest" group wanting this and that from him, different races expecting different things from him........he isn't going to be able to be the SAVOUR to all of the people. People voting on strictly the emotional side this time, I believe are going to be disappointed. He is a President, just like all other Presidents before him. He will hopefully do his best, and be able to help this country get back on it's feet, or he will fall short, either way, I believe he has much of this country believing that he will CHANGE EVERYTHING for them. I wish him well, and interestingly enough even though I didn't vote for him, in about 2 - 3 years, I'll probobly be one of the ones defending him - the American People are very fical, they build you up till your almost "GOD LIKE" and then just as easily knock you down.
God Bless the United States of America and all my best wishes to President Obama. I will stand behind him, but will watch very closely!! ,.-

I agree with you Luv,in regards to your remark about Obamas DNA he IS bi-racial!!! HE EVEN SAYS SO HIMSELF!!! He has made it very clear his WHITE mother and his WHITE grandmother (who just passed) were paramount in his life in making him who he is today!! it is disrespectful to him and BOTH of
his parents to call him one race or the other!! can you imagine if white people called him white because hes half white? He is BI-RACIAL!!!!!!!!!! -
Posted By: apex1989 @ 11/08/2008 9:16:54 PM
I must say I was rather impressed, Luv4America, with the fact that although you did not vote for Obama, for the sake of the country you hope he does well.
THAT is the way it is supposed to be in America. Fight hard to win, be a gracious loser if you don't; McCain's concession speech being a good example. Unfortunately, I would venture to guess that there are some die-hard, (probably social conservatives) who would rather see him fail just to prove they were "right", even if being right ultimately meant more hardship for them. So cheers to you!
If you don't mind however, I would like to rebut your opinion regarding national security vs. the economy. History shows that the most important thing for national security IS the economy. We are now close to $11,000,000,000,000.00 in debt. Much of the money we borrowed was used, for example, to fund purchases of military equipment that we do not need and that have absolutely zero use in fighting terrorism. Considering the fact that we are now the only super power on earth (China and Russia are not even close to being on a par with us) why do we need, for example, 100 new fighter jets a cost of $387,000,000.00/ea.? However, we DO owe China trillions of dollars, which makes it hard to negotiate trade agreements, etc. when we will need to continue borrowing from them. We have put ourselves over a barrel and that is definitely NOT a secure place to be.
I think it is important to identify exactly what it means to have national security, in the context of external threats. What are the external threats and how serious are they really? North Korea couldn't fight it's way out of a wet paper bag. Iran is posturing more than anything. Ahmadinejad is barely holding onto power, while the country is facing debilitating inflation. Iran has one of the youngest demographics in the world and while they are very patriotic, they also are very, VERY Westernized. I have Iranian friends who are disturbed by the foreign policy of the last 8 years because all it has done is alienate a country that now would like to be friends and that offered it's help immediately after 9/11. But of course, we don't hear about that... Finally, fighting terrorism is best done through changing hearts and minds, as history has proved again and again that you cannot win an asymmetrical war by conventional means. Think how much good just one fighter plane could have done were it in the form of medicine, food, and other means of making people like our country. $387,000.000.00 buys a lot of friends... It doesn't matter if on a gut level it feels like you're helping the enemy, it works, and that is ultimately the goal.
Anyway, sorry for the lecture. I just think it's important for people to have a better understanding of what works and what doesn't, when it comes to national security and I believe that Obama has a better grasp on this entire concept than any of the old Republican Guard. At least let's hope!

There is a different tone coming from Barack Obama now that he is the president elect. He is already making excuses for why things might not get done. 48% of us knew he was just empty words and would be backing down on what he promised, that is why we didn't vote for him. Don't see any evidence that he is going to change Washington either. Obama is already selecting plenty of insiders to show him the way around Washington. I don't think it is going to take very long before his approval rating will dip below 50%. I predict it will be below 50% within six months after his inauguration. I have a feeling that the same people who were stupid enough to get into mortgages that were over their heads are the same airheads who believed all of the hot air coming out of Obama's mouth. I just hope the business community takes over and gets the economy flourishing again so that the stock market can recover so that millions of us can regain what we recently lost in our 401K's. I am not counting on very much from Obama. God Bless America and help us get through the next four years!!!

Ever heard the sayingnthat something is less reliable than the campaign promise? That's exactly what's going on now... Obama was promising a lot, skilfully manipulating American public. Now it's time for a reality check... boohooo

on the day president obama was elected, i saw the light and things changed, not just for me but for many allover the world both here in the USA and all other continents.
There are several lessons to be learned and every American, weather black or white, republican or democrat should take great pride and joy in celebrating this historic moment while the rest of the world marvels at the strength of the American Democracy. How you view these developments will be somewhat influenced by your life experiences and as an african immigrant ,here are some of my views as to lessons learnt and message to the upcoming generation.
1) while we go about our daily activities not knowing waht can become of us by accident or by design,we should always strive to do what is right and keep a good name, as sometimes opportunities arise that can take us to the next level but we may suddenly realise that the only obstacles are the inequities of our past which only we had controll over. Sometimes lack of self esteem and inability to set reasonable goals have allowed us to be tolerable of "dirt".
Despite the edge Obama had , namely the falling economy, Bushes policies, The cry for change by the nation and the long unpopular war, if he had any reasonable "dirt" in his life he could never had won the election. So here is my message, never underestimate what you can become but you start now by living a life that is acceptable to such level of acheivement.
2)My message is to the leaders of other nations.America has indeed proven to the rest of the world that she is in fact still the greatest country in the world. But remember what makes a country, its not just the share size and location but the people. The people who have a VOICE and the voice was heard. This is what seperates the boys from the men, AMERICA PUTS HER MONEY WHERE HER MOUTH IS even if it seems inconvenient.
I never could comprehend the level of the spirit of patriotism when i first moved to this country. Over the last 10 years i have come to understand WHY. I now know that when a citizen knows that he or she has a voice that will be heard, and the he or she lives in a country wher opportunities have no boundaries, he or she will not think twice about defending that country , even if it means offering the ultimate sacrifice to protect the Nation.
I hope leaders of the African Nations especially can learn from this and start promoting a democracy where the voice of the people is heard so that the leaders themselves can enjoy the patriotism of the citizens.
As i said earler, Obamas election is an eye opener for many and many will respond from the perspective of their life experiences.
GOD BLESS AMERICA

there is no need to go all into the he may or may not be able to please all or the majority rather Black or white has nothing at all to do with that factor. and the fact that he change history being the first African American President is in a catagory all by itself no matter what oppositions come, he is entiled to make as many mistakes as we allowed the so called well organized, Rebulicans, leave the race out of it, It was Gods will ultimately, not the people alone. I feel that these long drawed out comment are more personal than political evidently as a whole the American people feel he is just as qualified as Bush or any other President in the past rather they did a great job or not. they still made it to the White House and were due the respect of such, as equally today President Obam is the chosen one for this term. Accepted or not dose not change the fact that today he is President Barak Obama. I am African American, I did not vote for him, however I will respect him and his position just as I did President Bush and so on, because it's due them.

Ok call me crazy, I did vote for McCain Palin and really wanted them to win, but here is the crazy part....
The day after the election we had a Obama party. We bought ribs at 18.00 (they used to cost 10.00 way back I the day), a Boston cream cake with strawberries, sparkling cider, potato???s and some garlic bread. Now it was not steak but it was good eats.
I decided to have an Obama party in that he is our new president, I am convinced that Obama from what I have seen wants to make good history, he wants to be a great president, He even had started to adapt some of the things McCain had mentioned first in his plan of going line by line and eliminating those things that don???t work and keeping those that do.
I find myself now saying when I see some of the pictures of him after the win saying "good for him" and I just know that now we can back him up better now that we have had our Obama party-

MysticCobra -- Only 1/3 of the world is Christian. It bothers me when Christians say that 2/3 of the world are wrong in their beliefs. It implys that Christians are bigots by excluding others. As a Christian I resent that implication.

I respect your opinion and appreciate your post, but the Bible states that Jesus Christ is the Only Way to eternal life. I challenge you to read your Christian Bible and if there is something you dont understand, ask a Christian (Christ centered) minister to explain it to you. If one does not believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven, he or she is not truly a Christian.

If it is true that president-elect Obama experimented with illegal controlled substances in his younger days of life, then I hope he understands that had he been caught, he would not be here today. How many lives have been ruined and how many peoples talents and contributions to the whole are lost due to these draconian laws called "The War on Drugs" our longest (five decades), most costly (when all is tallied in the trillions) with the highest victim rate (millions annually) not to mention the main source of funding for violent cartels and mafias. End the War on Drugs and stop the violence. Wake up the war on drugs is cultural genocide and is dividing our house against itself. To declare war on your own is constitutionally known as "Treason"

Just like many of us who are now old and more experienced in making wiser choices for not only ourselves but others, during our younger years in life alot of those that sit in the White House, Congress etc. on down to the little civilians in the world such as you and I we all have some dirt in our lives from illegal drus, to alcohol , porn, extra marrital affairs abusive relationships and all but some wher we grew up, and were blessed to make a change by the grace of God, you can tell when an individual is secretlt saying I don't approve, because they will find anything negative to scar or oppose another, especially something dealing with chilhood, or even early adulthood. If Obama did drus in the past what does that have to do with now, I sure he never thought he would be President either. truth be told we are all responsible for setting the sme examples we look for in our U.S. Leadfers, they are human and have past just like the rest of us. some things are meant to stay on an elementary level because real life has real leaders that deal with real life issues and problems If Obama did do drugs its obvious he is not now and he can evenmore so relate to the ones using them now even those that are in high positions.

The problem is Barack Obama doesn't seem trustworthy. He associates with terrorist and relgious radicalsl from the middle-east, he presented a phony birth certificate when he was asked for his birth information, and he studied in Indonesia as a child. Why is that last statement important? Indonesia does not allow dual-citizenship. Therefore, even if Barack Obama was born in the U.S., he had to have forfeited his citizenship in America in order to be schooled in an Indonesian school. You may or may not have heard about this already, but I urge you to do some research on everything that Barack Obama has been saying/avoiding. He doesn't answer questions directly, and always seems to find the answer that is able to please people without actually answering the question. Whenever there was a vote being taken (while he was a senator), if Obama did not like the subject, he would just not show up. I hope he knows he can't do that as President. Obama is also saying that he wants to "Spread the wealth." Where do you think that money will come from? Not out of thin air I assure you. It will actually come out of the middle-class' pockets while he sits comfortably losing nothing. Barack Obama wants change for the United States of America: he just doesn't want to have to change himself. An writer said that "If Obama really wanted change to help save/make money for the U.S., he would work without pay." Of course we know Obama has enough money and investments to do this, but it's highly unlikely that he wants to pay money himself when all of us middle-class people are paying it/will be paying it instead. Obama said he wants to cut taxes: when has a democrat ever wanted to cut taxes? When has a democrat actually done it? I don't trust Obama. He's sneaky and underhanded. Quite honestly he has little experience when it came down to him vs. McCain.
NO, I am not racist. The first person that says "Oh you're just racist," is usually the only person thinking about race." What I'm interested in is the politics, nothing more, but certainly nothing less...
Like I said, do some research on Obama's friends/relationships with radicals in the middle-east and see what you come up with. It probably wouldn't be too smart of you to just make a bad comment about my comment just because I've done my research. Other than that, God Bless America.-

"Right now Obama is The One. Baby-boomer types exorcise the demons of the '60s by praising him; Gen X and Gen Y types love him for his youth (he isn't quite as young as he seems to be, by the way) and his cool, lanky multiculturalism. A lot of this is going to burn off like liqueur on a flambé. Real lefties will discover, if they don't already know, that Obama is a more cautious and establishment-oriented figure than they thought or hoped; the African-American community will find out that he doesn't navigate solely by their star"
If i've ever seen a pesimestic view, this is probably one of them. People don't give, us, youth enough credit. They think that we vote soley on age or single policies but I as a young voter didn't vote soley on one policy, on skin color, on age or even just to be a part of making history. I voted, keeping in mind the economy and our futures as well as the not yet eligible voters futures. I voted for the, "best candidate," someone who can mutitask well and represent our country and our views the best, someone that will take a stand and uphold the constution and all that we as the united states stand for. We represent hope not only for our country but for many other countries. Republican or democrat, rich or poor, black or white...it doesn't matter to us, its about our futures! Stop putting us in a box, stop telling us what we stand for and why we vote, We are a smart youth, we are a generation that isn't going to sit back and watch the world pass us by. We have dreams and aspirations and nothing will stand in our way to fulfilling those. -

I think President Obama will face these challenges and do very well. If he uses common sense and knows that "A president does not a government make", he will excel. A few things need to change: Stop refering to him as "African-American". The President of the US should be first and Only American. Second, Affirmative Action can now go away. His election proves its not necessary anymore. Congratulations to the country for being colorblind.

Build up the middle class with good paying jobs and stop or slow the outsourcing and relocation of jobs overseas.
Immigration issue for undocument is a big and #1 causes for this economics problems too, undocument can???t work so they don???t spend, congress need to past some thing fast for all the people to get their right that here before 911and have family connection with us born children and have good American values.
Everyone should have full health Insurance
Education for all and have special learning place for the disabilities
Create jobs by rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure. and have jobs for our young people part time work 14-18 years
Cut out all unnecessary spending.
End the costly war and bring our troops home.
When the economy turns around slowly start to raise taxes on the ones who benefited the most from the big tax cuts that caused the national debt to balloon the way it did.
Give tax cuts only to companies that create jobs at home.
Balance the budget and pay down the national debt. No more irresponsible supply side or trickle down economics. Build from the ground up and the money will trickle up.
Put some regulations on Wall Street. Totally unregulated capitalism doesn't mean a great economy.
Have better relations with the rest of the world and restore their trust and respect in us.
Cut spending. Or better yet and in addition to, maybe follow McCain's proposal and temporarily freeze as much spending as possible (we can't exactly freeze it all)
Then do something to encourage Congress to make the US more business friendly and KEEP doing something until Congress realizes that having the second highest corporate tax rate in the world doesn't keep business and jobs HERE.
After that maybe he can get a clue and realize that true job creation is best left to the private sector.
I think the top issue should be War/Economy. You CANNOT separate the two the way the polls on T.V. want you to think. The war has cost us plenty of money we don't have. Not being in war will stabilize the world and the economy of the world a lot more then it is now. Rattling sabers only gets peoplenervous and it is reflected in the markets. Prices rise and fall dramatically on everyday needs because of speculative shortages because of this saber rattling. Money that is spent on the war can be used in other more important
areas. I didn't vote for Obama, but I have to laugh when I read on these message boards that Obama is going to raise taxes. Obama can't raise taxes high enough to equal what has already been taken by Wall Street, the federal reserve and this government. -

Bringing hope to the world not only because US still remains the largest economy unit so that US has hope to bring confidence to its economy and eventually the world, but most importantly your elected President does bring hope in equality. We all need peace and military is supposed to exercise justice, not to aim war.

Anyway, believe what you want, but if you turn your back on God, God will turn His back on you as a person or a nation. God should be at the heart of every decision we make. You have the right not to believe that and I'm not going to argure with you about it. I will just say that we will all stand before God for judgement.

I don't think the world is expecting Obama to fix all global problems, but I will agree there are high expectations for him. There is no denying that either president McCain or Obama will go into the white house with a mop and bucket............................................

Obama . like many of us. is a multi- racial man dont forget. This is the way of the world now. We need to move forward and stop the negativity and work together to bring the change this country needs. Sure we could comlain and keep bickering and the same old narrow minded things. Whay would be the result? more of the same over and over again. Fiorget the media..we all no they are propaganda. Mc Cain has his skeletons as well as Obam but so do we all. We need to pushthe past aside and live for the future of our children and our world..

leave it to the good-ol' U. S. of A. to elect an inexperienced and scared leader that claims change, but will not deliver. the main reason the world wanted obama to become president is that they could have someone weak to try and take advantage of, and the other reason was that he wasnt a christian, because christianity is what the entire gov't was based off. but now the world expects him to fix everything from global economic depression to geocide in africa, its a lost hope, and now the u. s. is *** and its going to depend on wat its always depended on, its strong military...God help us all.

It's sad that people in one in this country have that type of mind set. Please do yourself a favor and read up on some history don't rely on Fox News to give you all the facts. ...............Has public school failed us that bad ?

none of the global pressures were listed here, the rest of the world wanted obama to be president only because he isnt a christian like the rest of past presidents and that is supposedly the reason that the U. S. is hated so much, but now he's got to realize that the rest of world expects him to fix all global problems as well from the world wide econimical problems to genocide in africa, the world wants obma to fix it, and no one country can do that, especially with an inexperienced and scared leader such as obama.
