Obama has a lot of favors to repay. Spending 600 million dollars to get elected was easy to spend, but it will be a lot harder to repay when the time comes. He is already telling his low income constituents that it may take more time to FIX the country using his Campaign timetable. He can't blame the Congress, they are in the majority. He can't blame the Senate, their on his side. He is setting the ground work for another term inin2012.

Our country is in a mess at this time. I do not think that you would be able to solve all the problems this country is in right now. IT is going to take many years to undo the mistakes of the pass. I am one ot those that donate to his campaign, I do not expect the problems to be resolve overnight. I am a realist. thank you.

Just yesterday, I was speaking with a professional friend of mine who works in Brasil and I quote." The Brasilians as a whole already are expecting solid finantial actions from Obamas' admnistration to once again bring equlibrium to Brazil's market. As far as I am concerned, I jsut want to find a new job and fast here in Fl. Yes we can and we must grow again.

You seem to forget, Obama doesn't believe in God.

With all due respect Brentcole, your history is way off. Most of the founding fathers were not at all interersted in forming a Christian nation. They knew their history, and having seen and been aware of the hundreds of years of inter-Christian fighting and killing and wars due to religious intolerance, they were glad to put that aside and make a nation independent of any theistic stamp. If you look at the Constitution, it doesn't mention God at all since it is a purely secular document whose intent is on running a nation, not on the afterlife.

Also, Obama's and Hillary's stance on issues were not all that different, much to my dismay. You seem to think they were dramatically different. I would prefer Obama be a real progressive, but his voting record shows him a centrist Democrat. His cabinet appointees are showing the same. The only way he will be progressive is if the people demand it of him. Just as FDR told the progressives if you want progressive change, then "go out and make me do it" we will have to make Obama be a much better president than even he can imagine.

Mr. Fineman asks an important question: What are the immediate challenges facing Pres.-elect Obama?

The single most critical challenge he has, I believe, is to ???garner-in??? the support and cooperation of foreign journalists operating outside typical Washington protocols and constraints. If we can agree for a moment that free speech, and the right to a free press, are the most important liberties to our form of democracy, we might similarly agree our freedom to speak aloud and print news can also present our greatest weakness if exploited by foreign journalist with agendas contra to American well being.

President Elect Obama must diligently seek ways to leverage constraints over foreign journalism, particularly when it is being used to foment public skepticism about U.S. foreign policy, here and abroad. This task cannot simply be delegated or forgotten about - it must be addressed by the President in the near term. If not, it will eventually cause great chaos in the new administration, and then, eventually require to be dealt with in the long term.

Dear Franksac, Loved your use of the terminology, "Washington protocals". I assume you meant left wing censorship of truth and right wind philosophy? I listen to the foreign journalism and I learn what a stinking bully our country is and has almost always been. I don't know if you are correct in your promotion of Obama's "single most critical challange", but you have hit on an interesting note about the foreign media. Let us all listen to them and find out what is really going on in our country.

I am glad to see a change is coming to the world. But we got to remember that GOD is first. One thing
I think he should do is pass a law that when people KILL for no reason and young people get a hold of
a weapon or do any stupid crimes. They should be sent over seas and let our troops come home.

As millons were celebrating Obama's victory (as well they should have), Arizona voters decided to keep an old, racist bigoted law against Asian-Americans on the books, and three states voted to ban gay marriage. These are two of the last remaining groups that it is "acceptable" to discriminate against. So while we celebrate, let's remember that this country is not quite the bastion of diversity and tolerance that many would like to believe was proved by this election. It's a start, but we have a heck of a long way to go.

THE US ELECTION WAS FREE AND FAIR. THIS SHOULD SERVE AS AN EXAMPLE TO OTHER NATIONS ESPECIALLY THE BLACKS

Although I consider myself a forward thinking person, I have to say I was apalled at the polls as I stood next to a family who came to vote for Obama. The 18 year old daughter was proud of her family's choice of presidential candidate and was quietly vocal on the choice. Not quite quiet enough for me not to over hear her from three feet away as she followed up her anouncement by asking her father what was meant on the issues by "For" or "Against". Now if that doesn't scare you...

Barack Obama is not just Black. Remember his Mama was white. So all this talk about a black president. Bla! Bla! Bla! Get over it and get on with getting this country back in order.

I thank Almighty God for such a time as this, and I pray thank God will grant him the wisdom that he gave onto Solomon to run the affairs of this country extremly well, such that has never been seen before. I thank Ophrah for asking that question three years ago on her show when he laugh it off. There was something in him and on him and I have been praying since. Look at how he handled the mud-slinging with such a mild temperant. To those that was against him Pray. To those that was for him Pray. To the youths stay focused. As calypsonian Nelson from Trinidad and Tobago once sang many moons ago. "All ah we ah one family "and that is so true even today.
Let us all stay together, work together and build this nation.

I am a 66 year old white woman who is so proud of our country for finally realizing it's not color we should be afraid of, but it's united we stand, devided we fall. Now is the time for us to stand behind Obama, keep him in our prayers and fight along with him to once again make our country one, that is strong, that is respected, that is loved.

  • Posted By: bagogirl @ 11/08/2008 6:50:32 AM

I thank Almighty God for this time and season. May he give President Obama the wisdom that he gave onto Solomon to manage the affairs of this country.may he cover and protect him and his entire family. I thank him for accepting the challenge. I thank Ophrah for sowing the seed three years ago, many people may have forgotton, that she first ask him when he was on her show. There was something in him then that said yes he can and I have been praying since then and will continue to pray for him.
To those who doubted Pray for him. To those who beleived Pray for him. It's a good time It's a good season. Let's work together as one. As a calypsonian from Trinidad and Tobago once sang many moons ago All ah we ah one family.

Awesome article and so true. Everyone shpuld have realized this from the first, seriously. But as my Gov't teacher said, "who the heck would want to be president now?" No matter who was elected presidnt for the next term, there's going to be trouble ahead.
