Watched Fox ???News??? 11/1 for perspective. Got that and some chills.

LIVs have gotten notice lately, but the really scary ones are the Propaganda Dupes.

Paul Gigot was interviewing someone named Dorothy; didn???t get her last name.

    *********

PG: ???We???re back with a look at what???s really at stake, where each candidate really stands. Dorothy, for you what are the really big differences, the defining issues here????

Dorothy: ???The differences are attitudinal and political. Basically: how do you feel about our place in the world. We???ve seen a regular line from Mr. Obama in which he seems to indicate that the opinions of the U.S. held IN THE FASHIONABLE SALONS OF THE LEFT all over Europe, and IN ACADEMIA, and IN THE DARK CHAMBERS OF OUR ENEMIES, are something he understands too well.

???In fact, I suspect we will find a SQUISHY, as some would put it, MULTILATERALISM, AT BEST.???

PG: ???Why can???t McCain exploit that? Because in past elections that would have been a really costly position for a Democrat to take.???

Dorothy: ???He simply has not been willing to say: THIS IS HOW OUR ENEMIES SPEAK.???

PG: ???But Dorothy, if he had said that, the PRESS WOULD JUST HAVE ANNIHILATED HIM!???

Dorothy: ???He [McC] has this weakness, MORAL VANITY, SENSITIVITY. He fears what the press will think of him, instead of understanding it.???

???McCain is so clearly who is not receptive TO THE IDEAS OF OUR ENEMIES.???

???Obama said, the first thing he said was, what will you do when you go abroad: Ah, I will go abroad and make amends TO OUR ENEMIES???to others in the world. He sees us as a fallen nation.???

    **********
    ???Fair and balanced??????

I am extremely conservative and therefore was not an Obama supporter. Regardless, he is our new President and I will support him as I supported Mr. Bush. Keep the military strong. A lot of people will be in the unemployment line without it. Better yet, do your part and join the military for a stint. Yes, you can still get that shiny college degree and support the protection and freedom of this great nation. As the media begins to tear down Mr. Obama, please remember you voted for him and he cannot do it alone.

I wonder if Obama will learn to change??? Change his attitude toward putting his hand over his heart when the national anthem is played. Or knowing how many states are in the US ?? I'll be watching.

I would venture to say that there is nobody in Alaska qualified to be Govenor, and SaraH Palin thinks much too highly of her skills. Alaska is a remote area where people do what they want to.. The person that talks the loudest is the winner.

Howard Finemen says that President Bush will leave office with the contempt of the mainstream media. Does he mean the same mainstream media that was in the tank for Obama. The same media that is held in contempt by the majority of the American public.

Howard Finemen says that President Bush will leave office with the contempt of the mainstream media, the majority of Americans have contempt for the mainstream media. The way they were in the tank for Obama shows their contempt for the American public.

Wow, I should have spell checked my last statement. My last comment should have stated, I truly believe that we are in for something better. God bless Obama and his family.

After reading your article, I think it needs more depth and insight about the governing part. Winning that election was climbing a hill compared to the mountain that is laid out before us. I get the real sense that this President-elect sees and understands this. Now that the election is over, perhaps people should re-quiver those poison arrows and help, for a change, take stock of our country. Attacking him is attacking all of US.

If he gets bogged down in favors, revenge, retaliation or anything else most of us would contemplate after that ugly election, then we as a country will fail. I believe the man, when he says the central issue is national unity. The divisiveness and fragmentation in this country has just about consumed us. This MUST be put behind us first, before any other consideration. I believe that's why counties in places like southern Indiana that typically would have given McCain an 80/20 split, went 60/40 instead. It may not have counted much in the overall, but it is a deep indicator that people all over are getting tired of it.

If he moves first toward unification, then, the other things will follow. If he fails to take all of us with him, then his critics will emerge, and the country will suffer. Something unique happened here this election season, and I'm baffled at many people's attempts to cheapen, marginalize, and nullify it. Have we become so cynical to the point of stupidity in this country?

An opportunity rose up on the shoulders of Americans Tuesday night, are we really going to waste it through petty cynicism? Look at the YouTube clips of Manassas and Grant Park. That is something far beyond celebration. It's not party, or celebration, or gloating; it's a genuine movement of the people. Look again: That's what inclusion looks like.

And by the way, after the last 8 years of division, it feels pretty damned GOOD! National healing. Get some! Our President-elect has offered it to everyone. He's begging us all to join. But he does ask that we all do our parts though. Can we not even lift one finger to help him? And sitting back on our fat asses, waiting for him to fail, is a disgraceful and pathetic statement on what it means to be an American.

I do know one thing; the intelligent approach to national problem solving that is about to unfold, irrespective of the speed in which things are accomplished, will be a breath of fresh air compared to the cordite filled air, shrill irrational screaming, and misappropriation of funds that has dominated everything over the past 8 years.

America is: ONE nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all???

(btw Francis Bellamy, the author of the Pledge was a Christian SOCIALIST!!!!!! HAHAHAHA choke on it)

      DW,
Great comments all. Unity is required and I think we (the other 48% who didn't vote for him) will get there - but it depends upon the new administration. I don't believe even the 52% of Americans who voted him in truly believe that they just elected The One and will follow him blindly. While some may try to incorrectly marginalize what happened in this election, I do believe that some healthy cynicism is needed. We as Americans, regardless of the 52-48 split, are still better defined as center-bound conservatives. Yes, I acknowledge the factions to the far left and far right, but the 80-90% in between is where we need to focus unity. That, by far, is the bigger base and should be the center of attention for any administration (and yes, the last one got it wrong).
That being said, POTUS can ask for our help, ask for us to join him, ask for us to unify for the sake of God, country, and our fellow citizens, but until he gets his team in place and starts governing for the majority, there are bound to be many fence-sitters - from both sides of the fence. Optimistic and hopeful I am, but I will not put blind faith in anyone and would not dare to ask anyone else to do the same. The act of voting is actually putting blind faith in someone, but as has been said many times, the campaign was easy, the hard part is governing.

Think back to the debates: When Mr. McCain made a valid point, Mr. Obama stated, "John is right". Most people in the country were critical of him for saying that. Some tried to twist it into a form of resignation. Others reacted he was giving something away. How many simply recognized it for what it was: honesty. How did we get so cynical that we cannot recognize it?

I have friends from both sides of the debate. Why should political affiliation cause hatred amongst them? They are more alike, than different. Their circumstances are almost identical, yet, they blame each other for the state of the country. It's madness. How did we forget everything we have in common, focusing only on how we differ?

Do we really care more for abstractions than each other? How can we successfully fight and conclude 2 wars and a troubled economy if we hate each other? Somebody told me the other day, that "only Republican men are good soldiers, because everybody else isn't man enough to fight". Saying that dishonors all Americans who died for their country. Statements like this are toxic, disrespectful, and have no place in this country.

The person who said it is somebody I care about, too. I know they're hurting from the election. I see how it threatens their personal sense of security and introduces the unknown into their daily life. Unification. We need to be Americans again, before America is taken from us for dishonoring it.

And by your thoughtful comments, I know you wait to see, not because you hope he fails, but out of uncertainty borne from the unknown. I see that. I was addressing those who cannot let go of the election. Ones fomenting and desperately hoping he fails, simply so they can regain power.

Perhaps we should define power. To me, it's a form of currency used solely to enable people so they can do what needs to be done. To hoard it, withholding it from the people, is to burn your very soul. Funny how it works. You cannot really hold it, there is no battery for this type of power, only distribute it so things work properly. I learned this by experience, not from a book, a newspaper, or a talk radio host.

"Absolute power corrupts absolutely". If the man delegates the power, and it ends up in the hands of all of us to carry on, we as a country will succeed. If he attempts to hoard it, or direct it to a select few from any special interest, it will damage all of us and destroy him. It always does, it is an equal opportunity destroyer of anyone seeking to abuse it.

And I agree, the 80-90% in the center need to take back the country and ensure it operates in a rational, stable manner, not wildly imbalanced in any one direction. That is America. We must tolerate the remaining 10-20%, it???s in the American soul to do so (send us your???), but we should never capitulate authority to them ever again. Let the outlier lie.

        Have a good weekend.

"Lee Hohmes": The republican party might have a chance if it gave as much attention to itself as it does the press. The problem, however, would be the reflexive blame-laying would be directed at itself.
