There was a famous President who once said... "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." This year we have elected a President who has said... "Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your country can do for you.."

We have become a country of whiners and we have enabled our citizens to become fat and lazy. Where have the days gone that we could respect each other even if we disagreed. Today we get people like "ru4real" who feel it better to insult someone and tell them to "shut their pie hole" rather than listening to opinions even if they disagree with them.

This country will get exactly what it deserves.

Absolutely correct..except that it was Republicans and their corporate socialism that insists that no business ever be allowed to fail that drove America and hence Americans into this condition.

And looky who IS STILL WHINING, and not rolling up their sleeves, fully content to sit on their fat, lazy a$$e$ and blame everything on a guy who isn't even the president yet.
Republicans. Whaa Whaa,, where's my right wing nipple gone. Ugh..grow up.

VOICES OF EXPERIENCE - why offer it to Obama, when the majority of the electorate rejected the importance
of it in electing the new President. Let this political magician figure it out for himself - his campaign was based on the criteria that he has the answers & solutions to the mutitude of problems that plague the nation.

The real reason Rahm was picked is because of his connections w/ NYCity and Florida Jewish money donors.
Which is why Obama already guarenteed more Mid-East problems by requiring Hams to recognize Israel before he meets w/ them.

    Same ol same ol.
America is still a vassal state of Israel

      Unfortunately,
      Your Absolutely Correct

I would not be taking any advice from anyone in the Bush administration. I hope Obama does not jinx himself listening to the Bush baffoons in the White House a dog can give you better advice then a Bush staffer.
I hope Obama can lift this country otherwise he will be out in 4 yrs

    Good Luck to Obama,

It's amazing how very ignorant most of the American public is about this financial crisis and the economy. The Republicans tried to tighten regulations on Freddie and Fannie in 2003 and 2004 and were called racists by all the Democrats who had their hands in the cookie jar. Watch some of the excerpts of the hearings on Youtube, it will make your blood boil. You ignorant Bush bashers have now let the fox into the hen house and we will all pay the price. Do a little research on history before you keep spewing your tired rhetoric.

    • Posted By: kle5507 @ 11/10/2008 2:03:33 PM

Who ran the congress in 2003-2004? Wasn't it the Republicans? I remember Bush on TV and Limbaugh praising the ownership society as housing prices were going through the roof. I'm not sure how the right wingNuts managed to pin Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae on the whole downfall of this economy, but these two companies didn't put AIG, Bear Sterns & Lehrman brothers under, it was the unregulated, unadulterated American Style Greed. In 2006, 60 Billion dollars were handed out in bonuses to reward Phil Gramm's unregulated CDO and CD swaps. Maybe you should do some real research other than what comes out of Limbaugh and Hannity's mouth before trying to blame Democrats for Bush's Incompetency. Idiot!

Uh, you would be the biggest idiot of all all time.

Obama doesn't need any input from any one that worked with George Bush. Obama is also tired of all the lies the Bush administration has told. Obama doesn't need any advice from Bush or his administration because Obama is a smarter man than Bush will ever be. Obama is going to straighten out this country and all the other problems this country is facing. So shut your pie hole, Bush, and leave Obama alone.

    • Posted By: Paulj4422 @ 11/10/2008 11:30:54 AM

If Obama can be smart enough to listen to both the Bush people and the Clinton people, as well as the new voters he brought into the equation, and not alienate the rest of the world, he could truly be the transformational once in a lifetime leader I hope he will be. More than 40% of the country voted for McCain, they are still Americans too...

You have to understand, computers are a new fangled invention and hard to use. It is understandable that they can't get them right. I'm still working to figure out the whole horseless carriage thingy I bought.

    This goes out to Newsweek.
Does anyone at Newsweek really believe that anyone in the Obama administration welcomes any advice from Andy Card? (rhet?) Does anyone at Newsweek plan on interviewing Cheney for the same reason? Newsweek is irrelevant now and exists only to teswt our senses of humor.

  • Posted By: 2gofer @ 11/09/2008 11:26:56 AM

It is most difficult to connect most of the comments to the article. Newsweek is reporting results of a interview that they requested. Newsweek chose a misleading title. Andy Cain has merely shared his experience in response to Kathy's questions. He isn't giving advice to anyone. Obama is astute and a student of history. I believe he will be appreciative. Hopefully, he is a believer of the phrase "those who will not learn from history are doomed to repeat it". I recall Harry Truman using this phrase, but may not have been the origionator.

THIS IS MY MESSAGE TO "LIKEITIS"----YOU WILL HAVE A LOAD IN YOUR PANTS IN A FEW YEARS WHEN IT TURNS OUT MY PRESIDENT BUSH HAS A GOOD LEGACY. YOU WILL ALSO HAVE THE SAME THING NOT LONG FROM NOW WHEN OBAMA TRIES TO PLEASE THE LEFT LUNATICS IN "MOVEON.ORG" WHO GAVE HIM 88 MILLION DOLLARS FOR HIS CAMPAIGN. THEY'RE GONNA WANT SOMETHING BACK FOR THAT. DUUUUUUH! AND THEN THERE'S THE MODERATE DEMOCRATS IN CONGRESS (HARD TO BELIEVE THERE ARE ANY) WHO WILL WANT OBAMA TO COME OVER TO THEIR SIDE. IT'S ALL GONNA BE VERY INTERESTING. A BALANCING ACT THAT NO WAY THIS NEW NARCCISTIC PRESIDENT (IF YOU CAN CALL HIM THAT--I USE THE WORD LOOSELY) CAN HANDLE. I'LL BE HE IS SCARED TO DEATH ALREADY. I CAN HARDLY WAIT FOR HIM TO TRIP ON THAT RUG IN THE OVAL OFFICE!!!!! THE SHARKS ARE CIRCLING ALREADY--AND I'M TALKING ABOUT THE DEMOCRATIC SHARKS IN THE MIDDLE WHO ARE GONNA WANT IT THEIR WAY--HILLARY CLINTON AMONG THEM. DON'T YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THIS? FORGET ABOUT PRESIDENT BUSH--LET'S CONCENTRATE ON OBAMA'S FAILURES.
I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY PAYING MORE CAPITAL GAINS TAX AND GIVING SOME OF YOUR HARD EARNED INCOME TO THE LAZY BUM DOWN THE STREET. GET REAL FOLKS--THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN TO YOU.

Thanks for the crystal ball. I'm sure you neo-cons can tell the future, but you forget tthe pst 8 years.

    • Posted By: Scottanderson34 @ 11/07/2008 6:06:32 PM

Dude, to be clear, nobody had more special interest obligations to meet after the elections that President Bush did. Selling out to special interest is the same as Whoring out the Presidency. Bush was Special Interest's "Best Girl."

Amazing how Obama's victory changes so much. There's hope a rational government for a change, so we can just smile and say "you're entitled to your opinion.".

Thanks for proving once again that a change is needed in America! Your post is based off of STEREO TYPES and ignorance. We forgive you!

Feel free to send all your money to Halliburton, nobody is stopping you. The rest feel that 8 years of a US puppet regime was enough.

Dude, I share your sentiments, but please learn how to spell. When you spell every other word wrong, nobody is gonna take you seriously. It makes you look like a Cretan.

It is cretin, not cretan. Leaarn to spell yolurself.

Why do everyone call Obama, Black American?. He is White as much as Black. This is in my opinion, SLAVE MENTALITY. ANY WHITE BLOOD 'CONTAMINATED' BY BLACK BLOOD IS BLACK".. If a slave girl delivers a baby by a white planter, the baby is BLACK. WHY, WHY, is this 'White supremacy playing so openly in America. This is not acceptable and people who agree with me should bring this up. He is an American not Black American or White American. Do you know what he never called himself a Black man. Wake up America, don't ever mention him as Black President. You can not bring this country together this way. Obama is not 'Half Breed' or 'mulatto' or Black or White. Obama is atypical American, a mixed blood American. Most of Americans are mixed race, Italian, Irish,Spanish, English, believe it or not native American. WE ARE A MIXED RACE. There are countries like Brazil or Mexico where there are no pure blacks or whites ALL are Hispanics. Like wise we are just Americans.

..............................The Right Wing Hard Core is trying to attack Obama from the day after the Election, they can not wait until he assumes power in January to do all they can to try to drag him down and frustrate what he is doing. The Three Musketeer Right Wing Pundit Propagandists, Limbaugh, Hannity and O'Reilly, are are at it already trying to put the negative spins on the new Administration in hopes of the Far Right calling the playl........They can not accept it that America is tired of the Right and voted them out handily......the message is that The Right Is Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: brooklyn52 @ 11/09/2008 10:39:01 AM

I couldn't agree w/you more. What this party has done is almost unforgiveable. In fact that is where the problem lies. They didn't know what they hell they were doing. John Mccain wasn't the only POW in this race to the White House. We were all PO "W" s (Prisoner's of "W"). We were held hostage for 8 yrs. The only Republican's I would even lend my ear to for advice would be those who legitimately made their voices heard when they endorsed Obama. After what this administration has done to this economy would take short of a miracle to clean this mess up. So here's a warning for the media and the republican party....we voted in mass number's for this man...we expect him to take his time and get it right. We are in no rush. He asked us to be patient and we will. He told us it would be difficult...we heard him. The republican's and the media can say all they want to dirty this presidency. We the people are the final word. Not them! Just look back to Nov 4th. I guess being a Community Organizer paid off. The last laugh is w/Obama.

Hah! Of all the people to give advice! Where were you, Andy, when Cheney was running and ruining everything? Behind a closed door, unavailable. Take your checkers and go home.

  • Posted By: brooklyn52 @ 11/09/2008 9:42:05 AM

I would take absolutely no advice from anyone particularly Andy Card. Everything and anything that came from that Presidency was a complete disaster. We want Obama to move far, far, away from 2000-2008 and start fresh and new. Why would we who voted for Obama in mass numbers as we did want him to take advice from a failed Presidency? Please no advice from the Bush regime.

  • Posted By: vstillwell @ 11/07/2008 11:26:18 PM

Here's some advice for Obama: whatever the Bushies say, do the opposite! Please. Do it for you country Barack. Put your earmuffs on when they try to give you advice.

  • Posted By: Scottanderson34 @ 11/07/2008 6:01:30 PM

Come on, be nice. The Chief of Staff doesn't set policy, that was the job of the President, Dick Cheney.
The former Bush Chief of Staff was just giving some advice, and to me it sounded like good advice. It sounds helpful. But yes, you are correct, President Elect Obama, is bright, and he will do just fine, whether he gets advice or not.

I think things are looking up since Tuesday. Thank God.
