Joke - 911 call received. "Hi, this is Bob. I was duck hunting with Sam. His shotgun backfired. I think he is dead. What do I do?"
Call person - "Well the first thing is to make certain he is dead."

    ((shotgun blast in background)

"Okay, now what do I do?"

What? IRAQ had nothing to do with 9/11. Al Quida (at that time in Afghanistan) had everything to do with it.

WHO ever said iraq had anything to do with 911? iraq was invaded because they broke the "cease fire agreements"from the first war!

It is to my knowledge that Pakistan captured these men and delivered them to our military. At the time we had no idea who they were or where they came from. Besides al quiada was not responsible for
    9-11.

Probably the darkest legacy of Bush's administration. I see no recourse for this except to create detainment camps where the living conditions and treatment are HUMAN.

I do see the problems with Yemen, having studied the Arab world a bit in college. Calling Yemen's borders "porous" is an understatement. They almost don't exist, with many areas realistically under control of tribal groups in wilderness areas. It doesn't recuse the torture though.

There are only three options available that make sense: 1) For "accidental" captives such as the Uighurs, we must offer them assylum or help provide it elsewhere. It is a little bizarre that we would be offering assylum from ourselves, but sobeit. 2) Transfer some to our court system. Ours is a country of Law. If we blew the prosecution, sobeit. 3) Repatriate the remainder to either Afghanistani or Iraqi without prerequisites.

Dear Mr Ephron, the Uighurs have apparently done nothing wrong, but are a problem created by the US. Why not admit them to the US as refugees? I don't see why not - it is your mess, why should Europe or anybody else clean it up for you? The other cases appear more difficult. It all comes down to a choice in each individual case: Charge them or release them. The risk they take up terrorism appears, in general, remote.

They deserve a fair trial. If Bush's mistakes make it impossible to convict him, the blame falls to him, not Obama. We gave Jeffrey Dahmer and Tim McVeigh a fair trial, so we have no reason to deny these men, no matter how despicable their actions, a fair trial.
