I began reading the comments here and became very sick to my stomach. Despite who won the election, I had hoped against hope that this country could put down their hatred and stop spewing bile from their souls and join together for the sake of our country. Divided we fall. But, as I read some of the disgusting comments, I realize I was a fool to expect a joining. So many who went for McCain stood and cheered at the hate-mongoring of his campaign. But I thought maybe that was just the stupid people...those who didn't have enough smarts to cheer with support and not for hatred. And now the election is over. Our country stands a chance for change and to move forward and away from division. But it's not going to happen. Many of you have condemned Obama and he could do NOTHING to change your minds. So be it. Your hearts are filled with hatefullness and you are extremely poor loosers. You care nothing about your country but only whether you "win" or not. You are not very patriotic as you cannot overcome your bitterness and join your fellow countrymen in unison for the country'sake. You are not willing to give ANYONE but your side a chance in blue hell. And that is the saddest thing of all.
I remember a day in November, a long, long time ago when JFK was shot down in the streets of this country and the horror I felt that this could happen in our great America. And then I was even more horrified when I learned that there were some, a few, that cheered his murder! He was OUR president. He was the leader of OUR country. And then I thought this too would pass. And it did. But now I see postings from people who have the same kind of black hearts that would cheer another assasination and it makes me sick to my stomach. Those people would cheer loudly for anything Obama does that isn't wildly successful. They will watch him with hate and resentment in their eyes and little of nothing he will do will please them. They will never give him any kind of credit at all. I am only happy that they are in the minority of numbers.
It is certainly our rights as citizens of the USA to disagree and voice our disagreements. But to spew hateful bile is not disagreeing as much as it is just expressing a hateful nature. Sometimes I disagree with my husband, but I do not want him to fail, nor do I hit him with mindless words of hatred.
So, you people of the dark nature go right ahead and predict disaster and try to spread your hateful words. The majority of us will look at you with pity in our hearts.

You're nothing but a hypocrite. In your appeal to 'put down other's hatred', you're spewing your own. As a conservative. A very small part of me surprisingly welcomes Obama, so that everyone can finally see the havoc that will be ravaged on society as a whole with the liberal idealogy in charge. I'm sure, somehow, though that the folks who voted for Obama will find someway to push the blame on someone else, as is typical of liberals - no personal responsibility, which is why liberals support abortion - why take responsibility for the life I created when I can simply get rid of it.

Well, thank you, gabber. You made my point valid. Those like you are hoping and waiting for failure while others, Republicans or Dems, are hoping for change for the better.
I am grateful you proved my point.

        • Posted By: gabber @ 11/09/2008 7:33:46 PM

You're only fooling yourself here. I proved nothing. I said nothing about Obama as a person only his ideals. No true conservative ever expects liberalism to succeed. You liberals who have deified Obama are the ones who are in for a big surprise when either 1-he becomes a centrist, or 2- he implements all of his plans and this country sinks into a period of deep recession and an increase in terroristic threats and possibly actions.

Gabber...My name is Jason and I live in Laramie, Wyo. My conversations with all the good guntotin, bible carryin, Republicans of this great state were respectful and hoping to find a way forward. Its obvious you have us Democrats pegged as a certain type of person. All we are saying is that its destructive and at times juvenile to talk disrespectfully about entire groups of your fellow citizens. I think its sad that the party that claims to have Jesus on their side cannot muster the maturity to have a respectful adult conversation and be willing to listen to other people's heart felt hopes. I sincerely pray for healing and for a respectful dialogue over the next 8 years (hallelujah).

I suppose since you assome all Repubs are gun totin and Bible carryin, I can pigeonhole you as the stereotypical peacenik liberal democrat, huh? You have no idea who I am or what my core convictions are. The Bible does tell me to love my neighbor as myself, but it also tells me to speak the truth, which is what I'm doing. I will not turn a blind eye to the ramifications of the liberal idealogy. I can have love towards those with whom I disagree and explain why I disagree, can you do the same?

                Gabber--
FYI - Jesus was a liberal; he threw out the corrupt money changers from the temple. He didn't listen to the powers that be -- the Pharisees-- and turned the whole concept of how to worship on its head. So maybe you only read the Old Testament and haven't gotten to the Word of Christ yet. If so, read it post haste--it might open your mind--as Christ's major edict to all his followers was to "love one another". Love not hate is the way, the truth and the light. Let go of your hatred and accept that the election happened on Nov 4th and Barack Obama won--that other guy got creamed.

Congratulations! You have made it very clear what you are hoping desperately for. Pitiful. Just pitiful. I'm just happy to go on with hope, for the better rather than living with such dark and doomsday thoughts.
Oh, and by the way, I would have had that same basic feeling of hope if McCain had won the election. I suppose one could say I look at the glass as half full, where some look at it as half empty.

            • Posted By: gabber @ 11/10/2008 7:02:24 AM

You guys just don't get it do you? It's not about the man, it's about idealogy. Which of you would embrace a conservative idealogy in the name of unity? Did you do so with Bush, I'd say not likely. Stop being hypocritical and realize your own flawed ideals. The only reason Obama won was because the economy is tanking, not because of any "failed economic policy", but because of Democrat leaders turning a blind eye to Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac's ridiculous lending policies. The best thing a president can do is to get out of the way and let the economy fix itself. His liberal ideals, if implemented will have devestating effects on the economy and our foreign relations. You all have proved one thing to me, it's that we're only different in the substance of our convictions, but you are just as unbending as you are accusing me of being.

"gabber": I'm a republican, but by no means a radical. There is nothing in Obama's books or his speeches that indicate that Obama is a radical liberal. The only suggestion of that appear in those smear email, blogs, and exercises in distortion like Fox "News".

Rick Davis, McCain's campaign manager received up to $35k per month from 2000 into while working on McC's campaign to lobby Rs against regulation of Fannie and Freddie, and they donated $250k for the R convention, but you didn't see that in the emails or hear it on Fox, did you?

Obama should just sit back and "let the economy heal itself"....You're kidding, right?

You say Obama will have devestating effects on the economy and foreign relations... where have you been the last 8 years?

No, we're not all as inflexible as you.

                • Posted By: gabber @ 11/10/2008 12:17:43 PM

When someone tries to defend their republican heritage, it causes me to doubt. Were you truly a republican, you'd comment on only the last two-three years, because Bush did a good job until then when he started leaning more towards the middle and giving in to the Dems. And, yes, the economy will heal itself, it's like a scab, the more you pick at it the more it bleeds. When there is doubt in the minds of the people they will not spend,, and that doubt, right now, is what is Obama going to do with Cap Gains and Income taxes, that's why people aren't out there buying anything. When there is some level of certainty, spending increases, and the economy recovers. So the best thing to do is, unfortunately provide some oversight, since there are some crooks in business suits out there, but otherwise, keep your hands off. And yes, Obama is a liberal, I've heard his socialist ideals from his own lips.

"max143": We won! The haters lost!

I expect Obama will lead the nation toward toleration and cooperation, as he did in the election. Some will be unable to follow.

The haters will continue to hate. It is so extreme for some of them that they hope he will fail and our country will continue to suffer. Their hate is so strong, it apparently does not occur to them how self-defeating that is.

Despite all the efforts to win with hate and fear, they are in the minority.

      Hate is its own punishment.

Pull your heart out of your stomach and use your head. Those that do not have the mental capacity to comprehend opinions other than their own always resort to labeling people, or groups of people, haters these days. That is an over simplistic copout. You have it backwards. Obama could not do anything wrong, and no matter what Palin did it was never be right. You are right about one thing, this election was just as ugly as the rest - but I've never before seen one so blatantly discriminatory. It was publicly acceptable to refer to McCain as too old, but never did I hear Obama referred to as too black.

        • Posted By: Doc Howl @ 11/10/2008 4:25:08 PM

Pot/kettle/black. You're the one that said the fact that Obama won means patriotism lost.

and this is a true story.....pay close attention.. in the city that i live in the blacks would go into the gas stations and threaten to burn the gas station down if the owner was not pro obama. there viewpoint was that we give you a lot of business so now you have to vote for obama if not we hurt you. these are obama supporters this is a city in america this is called racism.

    • Posted By: obiedobie in PA @ 01/03/2009 3:32:21 AM

That is almost as stupid a story as the McCain supporter who carved the backwards B into her own face and then claimed it was some big bad scary black male Obama supporters. I didn't buy that hype then and don't buy your trash now. For the record, the election was Nov 4. It happened. Your guy lost. Barack won. Now get over it.

    • Posted By: epryor @ 11/13/2008 4:58:46 PM

Blacks have historically voted for democrats. Obama is a democrat, that is not racism. They would have voted for Hillary Clinton if she had been the candidate.

    • Posted By: sensiblejoe @ 11/10/2008 9:10:20 AM

What nonsense. Plenty of whites, Latinos and others voted for Obama too. The black vote alone didn't, and couldn't, put Obama into office. Lay your racism aside and start to do something for the common good of America.

  • Posted By: whathell @ 11/08/2008 8:23:31 PM

and this is in my opinion the frosting on the cake - obama elect considers himself african american yet a white family raised him feed him clothed him and put him to bed every night. oh yes and loved him now where is the african american in that picture???

    • Posted By: epryor @ 11/13/2008 4:57:02 PM

It doesen't matter the color of the family that raised him. Anyone who looks at him knows what he is. He can't tell someone "I'm White", when his skin is brown.

    • Posted By: TheVigil @ 11/09/2008 10:14:08 AM

I'm a white male who has a father who's more or less abandoned my family. Should I have become bitter about that and voted against all white people forever thereafter?

No matter how much I talk about the logical fallacies of "guilt by association", I can't seem to make a dent there.

How can we take liberals serious when liberals can accuse conservatives of racism for their legitimate political differences with Barack Obama while demeaning, with racist epithets, Condoleezza Rice or Clarence Thomas. How they can mock conservatives for being close-minded while unilaterally declaring the end to the debate on global warming because of a mythical consensus they have decreed? How they can demand every vote count and exclude military ballots. How they can glamorize Jimmy Carter for gallivanting to foreign countries to supervise "fair elections" and pooh-pooh ACORN's serial voter fraud in their own country. How they can threaten the tax-exempt status of evangelical churches for preaching on values, even when the churches don't endorse candidates, but fully support a liberal church's direct electioneering for specific candidates. How they can ludicrously depict President Bush as a dictator while romanticizing brute thug tyrants Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro. How they can falsely accuse President Bush of targeting innocent civilians in Iraq when he does everything possible to avoid civilian casualties but demand our withdrawal from South Vietnam, which resulted in the massacre of millions of innocents. How they can advocate the banning of DDT in the name of environmental progress but be unconcerned about the untold malaria deaths that resulted. How they can oppose the death penalty for the guilty but protect the death penalty for the innocent unborn. How they can prevent the teaching of "intelligent design" in schools in the name of science but defend the many documented myths of biological evolution in public-school textbooks, also in the name of science.
If you believe the left is tolerant, open-minded and democratic, you're in for a rude awakening.

    • Posted By: epryor @ 11/13/2008 4:46:42 PM

-DDT gets into the food supply, but Malaria can be treated. -Intelligent Design is just another name for creationism. Creationism should be taught in church, not school. It violates the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to teach creationism in school. Evolution is a fact. Just look up the Kitzmiller vs. Dover case and you will see that even a conservative judge rejected teaching intelligent design in school. -Global warming is a fact. Look at you children and ask if you really want to take a chance you are wrong. If global warming is wrong, the least damage that will be done is to create a more efficient society. -After 8 years of Republican rule, there has been no attempt to overturn Roe vs. Wade. It is something they bring up every 4 years to rally people. Life does start at conception, but sentience does not start until long after then. A tree is alive. Your skin cells are alive. Until the embryo is several weeks old it is just a lump of cells. If you abort a 3 week old embryo, that is not murder. Although an embryo is alive, it is not sentient. A person on death row is sentient and there is a possibility that he is innocent. There was a recent case in Georgia where a Black man was accused of murdering a policeman years ago. The only evidence was by eyewitness. 7 of 9 eyewitnesses recanted their testimony, but he was not granted a re-trial. The Supreme Court had to MAKE them delay the sentence.

neocon: I only accuse the racism. I reject the political views, and condemn the political practices, that caused me to decide to cross party lines for the first time. Fortunately Obama was the superior candidate.

You ask a lot of questions. Please answer this: What will the republicans do now that they've seen the neocon war and diplomatic policies, and the hate, lies and smears propaganda machine be so soundly rejected by the electorate, including so many moderate, patriotic republicans?

The so-called intelligent design ruse has already been exposed as a fabricated psuedo-science so that religion could be taught in schools. Do you support the Constitution, or just the parts you like? Teach your own children the religion you want at home or church.

I'm an open-minded republican who opposes radicals of all kinds. Just refuse to take us seriously, and huddle with what's left of 'your' shrinking party wondering what happened. We all must be confused, right? Or worse?

Didn't have a rude awakening this morning. Just some happiness and relief that the fingers of the neocons and religiofascists will soon be off the steering wheel of state.

I'll return to the republican party if and when the neocons and religiofascists are marginalized.

The most unnerving aspects about the Democrats' sweeping victory Nov. 4 are their intolerance for dissent and their willingness to censor and otherwise suppress their opponents. Consider:

We keep hearing that Sarah Palin's criticism of Obama for "palling around with terrorists" increased death threats against him, which is bogus in the extreme but consistent with the inveterate liberal tactic of chilling conservative speech by saying it incites violence.

Ohio state employee Vanessa Niekamp said she was ordered to run a child-support check on Joe the Plumber, the man who asked Barack Obama an innocuous question about redistributing taxpayer income. Niekamp doesn't remember ever having checked into anyone else without having a legitimate reason to do so, such as discovering that someone recently came into money.

Democratic prosecutors in St. Louis threatened criminal prosecution against candidate Obama's critics. In Pennsylvania, lawyers for Obama wrote intimidating letters to TV and radio stations that aired unflattering ads documenting Obama's anti-gun record. The Obama campaign complained to the Department of Justice about the American Issues Project's ad tying Obama to William Ayers. Obama supporters flooded Chicago radio station WGN with harassing calls during its interviews of conservative writers investigating Obama.

On election night, Philadelphia police arrested a man who dared to wear a McCain-Palin '08 T-shirt at an Obama celebration rally. What's scarier is that the Obama crowd reportedly chanted with joy as cops arrested the man for exercising his freedom of political expression. According to the liberal worldview, arresting someone for disagreeing with you is not censorship, but implying someone is not patriotic is.

Obama has made no secret of his plan to pass "card-check" legislation, which some have described as the most radical revision of labor law since 1935. It would permit unions to eliminate secret ballots -- against the wishes of 78 percent of union members -- which would represent a radical blow to democratic principles

    • Posted By: kshortSD @ 11/11/2008 4:20:06 PM

Yeah, and Republicans actively tried to disenfranchise minority voters (probable Democratic voters) in swing states. And I won't assume that the McCain campaign isn't guilty of trying to stifle unflattering press as you are accusing the Obama campaign of doing. We could play this game all day, but in the end, the better candidate won. Get over it.

We are getting a clearer picture of Obama each day, especially in the foreign policy arena. It points to arrogance, weakness, and dishonesty,:

Obama met with Iraq's Maliki in July 2008 and began or tried to negotiate with him BEFORE he was president.

In July 2008, at the same time the Bush administration was negotiating a still elusive agreement to keep the U.S. military in Iraq, OBAMA TRIED TO CONVINCE IRAQI LEADERS IN PRIVATE CONVERSATIONS THAT THE CURRENT PRESIDENT, GEORGE W. BUSH, SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO ENACT THE DEAL WITHOUT CONGRESSIONAL APPROVAL.

A few weeks before the Nov. 4 election Obama threw conservative reporters off of his plane.

In October 2008 VP candidate Joe Biden predicted an international crisis would be staged in 2009 to test Obama after he became president, and predicted that people in the U.S. would not like the way Obama handles it. FIRST TIME IN KNOWN HISTORY THAT A VP CANDIDATE HAS MADE SUCH A PREDICTION ABOUT THIS PRESIDENTIAL RUNNING MATE.
On Nov. 8, 2008, President-elect Barack Obama's private conversation with Poland's president created an international disagreement, with President Lech Kaczynski saying Obama promised to continue a missile-defense system and the transition office saying the Democrat made no such commitment.

Your comments are nothing but bitterness because your side lost. The man isn't even in office yet. Give him a chance!

Really, Rock? You must want something.....Btw, how is the nurse?

Mr. Obama is a one hit wonder. He's not qualified or prepared for the office. Voters looking for a fairytale this election say "hope won". Rational Americans see that patriotism lost.

Clearly you haven't been paying attention. You must have decided two years ago that you were going to vote Republican no matter what, and then sat on your couch to watch Nascar, or whatever. If you would have watched the debates and read any of the countless articles about the candidates, you'd be willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt based on the commanding way in which he ran his overwhelmingly successful campaign, and based on his calm, rational actions during campaign attacks and the crash of the financial market. You'd see what the rest of us see...a thoughtful, brilliant person who will use diplomacy and sound judgement to do what's best for our nation. You will see a born leader. Hey, the entire world is not wrong on this one.

A little bitter, aren't you? LOL.

"dolorscranston": Not all of Obama's supporters are just "hopers". Many of us started out as skeptics of Obama and supporters of McCain. If you have the time, reading Obama's books are a good place to start. I read them only because of all the fabricated 'quotes' from them. The intellect and post-racism shown through. Paid more attention to his speeches after that. Him telling blacks that they must be responsible for their children was not pandering to them. Telling Europeans that they must beer their burden in Afghanistan showed integrity. He told our foes "we will defeat you". He certainly is acting like a pragmatic centrist to the eyes of this skeptical conservative. Let us be patriotic and warily, but fairly, judge what he does to help us out of the multiple jams we're all in.

Obama must be removed from office.
    He is dangerous and divisive.

      Why do you hate democracy?

I knew I'd hear at least one wingnut say that he knows better than The People.

gabber you are painfully uninformed and blinded by ignornace you dumb fool. You actually think this crisis is the product of a couple of years of bad decisions by Bush because he moved more towards the middle? Are you that stupid? Go join the Sarah Palin fan club and keep your ignorance to yourself!

    • Posted By: gabber @ 11/10/2008 1:06:46 PM

If you're the best example of open debate, then we're in a lot of trouble. Your ignorance is overwhelming, if you took the time to read what I wrote, and not knee jerkedly react with your limited facilities, you'd notice I didn't blame our current situation on the last two years. As far as keeping things to myself, you'd do good to take your own advice as you did nothing but destroy any vestige of hopeful debate on your part.
