Seems the major media are already offering excuses for president - elect Obama. Instead of holding him to his campaign promises. Why?

because they will do anything they can to make him look good. They know they need to ease people's expectations becuase he has over-promised and will under-deliver.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves, at will, money from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority votes for candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, usually followed by a dictatorship. The average ago of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through certain definite sequences. From courage by revolution to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to complacency, from complancency to apathy, and back to dependency." Ben Franklin

I would like to eat the sardines on top of the potatoe chips and have the chocolae for desseert. Nice article, but Obama is going to defy all expectations. He is not/does not waste a an hour or minute. What you are about to witness is even more historical than the fact that he got elected. What we have here is a true leader, not a Republican academic failure like Bush and McCain. True leadership is something we have not experienced in my entire lifetime.

It is a human trait to make much ado about nothing, just as this article does. I just think that when there's a change in administrations there's always hope that the future will be brighter. I'm not so sure we're the only animals that look forward to the future. We should all be hopeful that Obama will change things for the better and have the patience to allow this fine man to get situated so that he can work on the change we all need.

I realize a great deal of what Obama proposes may not come to fruition, or will become so watered-down and compromised it'll almost be unrecognizable. But right now, that's of secondary importance. What's important to me, right now, in the interim, is that there's finally hope. We've finally taken a step in the right direction, and away from where we've been stuck for the last 8 years.

It is the citizens not just of the US but of the world's job to do their part to make this work. Obama has a great vision for our country, and we all have to take ownership in our role in this world. I urge everyone to think of ways that they could make a difference. Help a neighbor, walk to work, recycle, be a good role model and most importantly never forget that EVERYONE in one way or other leaves a lasting impression on this world-make it a good one.

Isn't the point of living in the U.S. to be able to choose your own path within the rules of human law?

My hopes are that we survive and recover from what's been done to us over the last 8 years, and that this administration will continue to give open-minded people reasons to continue evolution away from the hate and racism that are still so rampant. Oh, and one more thing: that a pragmatic centrist administration will free more moderates from the hysteria and demands for more power of the right wing.
