Every dog has its day or everyone gets a turn. The old white male establishment has had this country wrapped or warped around its little finger. Now it the law of averages, it's just the other guy's turn. A half cast/mixed race man (the guy you don???t want in your home, business or dating your daughters) outsmarted your lazy, country-club goers, white enclave butts and you're pissed because you hired people based on their credit report . . . not on the content of their professional lives! YOU LOSE! Obama and the Middle Class finally get their turn.

It is bizarre to me to see how Obama brainwashed so many people. Stop hitting on Sarah, at least she doesn???t have the radical back ground that idiot Obama has. I would not allow him or his radical family in my home. HE IS A LIAR, and people like yourself, who seem to have limited education, can be brainwashed easily. The media, like CBS, ABC, NBC ??? all ganged up on McCain and Palin. Had the Media not done that and if Obama had not accepted all that money from who knows where (middle eastern???), and had the homeless not voted for him, thanks to Acorn and if Acron had not gotten all those fake voters???. Oh, one more??? if the % of blacks (99.9%) who voted for him because ???he???s a black man??? ??? ODUMA WOULD HAVE LOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .
    THAT???S A FACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: simplysmarter @ 11/10/2008 11:00:21 PM

Sunshine, you're starting to sound like Ross Perot. McCain lost to the smarter, more organized, more articulate (okay...just plain better) candidate. Get over it.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING!!! ODUMA IS A JOKE.... SORRY YOU CAN'T SEE THAT. HOPEFULLY YOU ARE NOT A MOTHER AND/OR A WIFE AND HOPEFULLY YOU LIVE ON YOUR OWN W/A CAT. LOL

For me, the old argument of "low taxes" is in your best economic interest just doesn't hold water anymore. Sure my taxes got a lot lower under Bush, but the value of my property, has declined while my property taxes have doubled, my other investments are in the toilet, health care costs are triple what I used to pay. I may not be paying federal taxes, but believe me, I'm paying. We have to face the fact that lowering taxes never trickled down, and ultimately it's the buying power of the middle class that keeps all us rich folks in the money.

  • Posted By: fausthaus @ 11/10/2008 11:00:43 PM

Wow, I guess what you Mr. Gross fails to recognize is that for some of us, money does NOT trump every value we have. On the other hand, at least Gross admits that it's been primarily the wealthy that have benefited from Bush's policies instead of trying to pass off the old tripe that they've been good for everybody.

Obama is a socialist. I really don't care if the banks or the car companies go under. It is the democrats rushing in to save the auto industry. SOCIALIST.

    • Posted By: r2626 @ 11/10/2008 10:51:07 PM

Didn't Palin raise taxes on the oil companies in Alaska and give the money to the Alaskan residents? THAT is socialism.

My tax preparer says that actually the rich vote Democrat most of the time because of the tax loopholes they create. The poor are just duped into it but the Dems really don't create oppurtunities for the poor to work their way out. When the Repubs. are in power the tax burden is actually more equally distributed than with the Dems. Isn't that ironic? But wether you are "rich" or "poor" I would urge everyone to urge the our government to do a non-partisan 9/11 type investigation into the mess on Wall Street BEFORE they write them any more checks! It is ridiculous that we just let different set of foxes guard the same henhouse! We need to urge Congress to get to the bottom of this!

My tax preparer says that your tax preparer is full of crap.

But I do agree with you that there needs to be investigation into the Wall Street mess.

IT'S TRUE F O O L~~~ MCCAIN WON IN MY EYES. BUT BECAUSE OF THE MEDIA AND ALL THAT OVERSEAS $$$ FROM GOD KNOW WHERE.... WELL, HE BOUGHT HIS WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE. NOT TO MENTION ALL THE HOMELESS VOTERS THAT VOTED FOR HIM. I WORKED THE ELECTION AND THERE WERE PEOPLE THAT DIDN'T EVEN KNOW HE WAS A DEMO. THEY ONLY KNOW THAT THEY NEEDED TO VOTE OBAMA ---- SCARY, VERY SCARY THIS GUY.

RIght, and I heard from some dude that McCain is really from Venus and he likes to eat babies' heads mixed with ball bearings, and that he wasn't ever really a POW -- he was just visiting the family in Venus. It must be true!

DEMOCRATS WIN AND THEY STILL REMAIN ANGRY AND WANT TO EXACT SOME KIND OF RETRIBUTION.. OBAMA IS NOT MY PRESIDENT, HE DOES NOT SPEAK FOR ME. I VOTED AGAINST SOCIALISM AND HIS MARXIST IDEAS. CONSERVATIVES MADE A CHOICE TO NOT VOTE FOR MCCAIN AND STAYED HOME. THERE WILL BE A CONSERVATIVE MOVEMENT AND IN FOUR YEARS WE WILL SEE WHO IS READY TO LEAD AMERICA OUT OF THE SLUDGE WHICH OBAMA POLICIES WILL TAKE US.

I am sorry Mike but we are already in the Sludge that Bush drug us into and he still hasn't caught Osama Bin Laden. My husband and I will be paying a lot more taxes and our stocks and Real Estate portfolios have dropped dramatically. Sorry can't blame it on Clinton or Marxism? I believe the Chinese (Marxist) pretty much own us since Bush sold us to them!!!! Can anyone say deregulation? Blackwater, Haliburten and many more greedy cops..... Thank you Pres Bush. McCain lost because of you!!! Republicans need to learn that Liberal is not a dirty name.

  • Posted By: Henry Rutgers @ 11/10/2008 10:29:50 PM

My wife and I lost more money in our pension funds than 10 years of income taxes.

In addition, we are tired of the anti-science and anti-knowledge attitude of the modern day republican party. It's been a long process, but they finally lost me. The republican party has nothing left to hold itself together other than backwardness, fear and hate. This is not for me.

  • Posted By: 40YearR @ 11/10/2008 5:52:57 PM

"ppenguin95": Yesterday there was an entire section on what the republican party should do now. That discussion covered nothing other than to address "what the republican party will do to reach out to the right wing" and how they can do more to satisfy the religious right.

As only one more example, it was Fox that characterized the exchange between the Obamas as a "terrorist fist bump".

Many of us moderate republicans voted for Obama because the party has lurched so far to the right.

I think it indicates much for you to consider Fox "News" as only leaning a little to the right.

    A 40 year republican

    • Posted By: ppenguin95 @ 11/10/2008 6:12:19 PM

Interesting. My comments about 95% of the media leaning to the left I don't think I am exaggerating. Every major network, including CNN, and all but a handful of major newspapers report the way I mentioned (positive news for Democrats heavily reported, negative news minimally and the reverse for the Republicans). Any article regarding what a party will do now, or what is the next step, or how a party will attract new or different voters is not biased. That is simply reporting. But, when the media says something about a candidates mistakes or "bad dealings" but don't mention the other candidates that is biased reporting. The best example of this is the LA Times having a video of Obama at a meeting that would show him in an unfavorable position, they didn't report it. Curious, if it was about McCain they would have blasted it on the web, shown it over and over again on air, and brought in analysts from the left and right to debate what it means about McCains character and his ability to lead the nation and make decisions. That is what I mean. I too usally vote republican and I too have been increasing frustrated with the party. Lets hope this wakes up the party sooner rather than later.

      • Posted By: r2626 @ 11/10/2008 10:29:13 PM

The media reports the facts, and the right wing doesn't like them.

  • Posted By: delfairchild @ 11/10/2008 6:52:22 PM

A lot of the rich yuppies are college (Univerity) graduates that have been introduced to the mind set of their professors, many of whom are liberal and swell talkers. Besides, they have to agree to what is in the classroom or get punished with bad grades. The one thing they need to most to get a good job is good grades.

    • Posted By: r2626 @ 11/10/2008 10:16:42 PM

delfairchild where do you get your facts, or is this just another republican line of bullsh-t.

    • Posted By: physics teacher @ 11/10/2008 8:56:07 PM

A recent study has proved that "liberal professors" do NOT change a student's political ideology. I will find the source and post it.

      • Posted By: DWPitts @ 11/10/2008 10:11:36 PM

        You're wasting your time.

From what I experienced, liberal professors encouraged everybody to debate openly, all sides of every issue. The absolutists tended to do more of the "it's my way or the highway" type teaching.

I once argued for over 3 hours with a "liberal" philosophy professor that the Beatles did exhibit a form of philosophy in their music. He seriously disagreed (he thought only Joan Baez approached that status). His TA sided with me. Nobody changed their opinions, though. It was all good.

That argument exposed me to Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Kant, Socrates, Aristotle, Plato, and a host of others. To me, the exchange was more beneficial than the opinions, as it opened up my thinking way beyond anything I could have hoped for on my own. I have always remembered him, even though it was an elective course.

Congrats to liberal professors everywhere. Keep up the debate. Some of us still appreciate what you did for us. Viva la Liberale! (lmao, I know, let them figure it though, I'm tired)

I believe that higher education is a better predictor of Obama voting behavior than wealth. And in the richer areas of the country (CA, NY, DC) the rich are educated - lawyers, MBAs etc. And in the poorer states (like NV where I live) the rich are entrepreneurs who happened to get lucky with their business idea. And those lower-educated rich people voted for Obama in very low numbers - I have heard first hand that they don't want Obama taking their money - and they don't have the higher education to see the "big picture" - that we all do better when we all do better.

      elit???ism Pronunciation: \??-??l??-??ti-z??m, i-, ??-\ Function: noun
      1. one???s inflated sense of superiority due one???s self-perceived higher education or
      2. one???s inflated sense of superiority due to being from CA, NY, DC and not elsewhere, like NV.
Classic example: see posting from mhkinas @ 11/10/2008 7:31:54 PM

Let's face it, alot of Americans don't care about anyone doing better but themselves. It is that attitude that the Repubs play to incessantly. "keep your hands off my stack!" That is not how world War II or the Great depression were conquered. But it's easy.

  • Posted By: alfacanguro @ 11/10/2008 10:07:51 PM

It is indeed ironic that much of the support for each major political party comes from those whose economic self-interest would be undermined by the policies of the party that each supports. Look at all of the poor white folks in the middle part of the country that consistently vote Republican as they wait for the trickle-down effect to hit them in the eye. The only conclusion one could draw from this is that if you are smart, educated and knowledgeable, your only choice is the Democratic party. Conversely, if you are obsessively passionate about guns and religion, your only choice is to go Republican. What we need is a new political party that represents fiscal conservatism and social progressiveness.

  • Posted By: LauraBuSeattle @ 11/10/2008 9:54:52 PM

I think that wealthy people DID vote for their wallets. They voted for long-term wealth over short-term robbery, the third-world dictatorship kind that has brought our country to its knees. Zero-sum policies don't increase a country's weatlh, they just shift the riches around.

Don't demonize everyone who voted for Obama, some people actually voted for Obama because of the GOP's inability to properly to stabliize our economy. There are many benefits putting him in office over McCain. As for abortion, every state their own laws they make regarding that, (has little to do w/who is president). So keep your irrelevant, obviously religiously biased nut-job opinion to yourself.

Sweet a $500.00 tax refund!!!!! Yee Haw!!!!

    • Posted By: MicheleC1 @ 11/10/2008 9:54:31 PM

I am a neonatal ICU nurse. I can argue against abortion based solely on science and fetal/embryonic development and not even bring up religion. Can you argue your position for it without calling names and putting down those who practice religion??? I doubt it. Sad.

The reason that I am pro-choice is simply a look at the alternatives. We will take the premise that there should be an exception for rape and the health of the mother. Now lets draft the legislation. For rape, do you charge the woman and her doctor with murder if the rapist is found innocent? How hard does the woman have to fight? What if they can not find a suspect? How long does victim have to report the rape? For the health of the mother, how serious must the risk be? What procedures are used to decide? How many doctors need to agree? What if the doctors are wrong in their assessment, do you charge them with murder?Either the woman has a right within reason to a safe, legal abortion or she does not. I have faith in the woman and their doctors that they do not take this issue lightly and that they will make the best decision. If is funny that the ultra-right wing of the Republican party has said NOTHING about the results from South Dakota. McCain carries the state by the same percentage the voters reject outlawing abortion. The real issue is not that the upper middle class wants more taxes, but that they are fed up with the right wing agenda. I have been a Republican for more than 20 years and this beat down has been coming. If Obama moves to the center (do not underestimate a candidate who beats a Clinton in the primary), you could have another Tony Blair. It could be a very long time before we see another Republican president.

    • Posted By: MicheleC1 @ 11/10/2008 9:41:45 PM

Okay, but research the Freedom of choice act, which Obama sponsored. Obama wants it for ANY time for ANY reason. NO ban on late term. NO parental consent for minors. As a parent I cannot imagine my child getting ANY surgery without my consent. As a father of girls I don't know how he could either.

What'sd the fairness in making the rich pay more than anyone else and giving them no Social Security Insurance benefit?

What's the fiarness in having the rich work for the government half the year while the resto only work a couple of months, not at all, or actually receive a credit?

What's fair about the fact I never received any social benefits, even though I was poor growing up in Montana (we were too proud)? Then, I went to school 22 years and had many low paying jobs until I finally got a good job making me rich? Now, I can finally start saving for my retirement. Am I to get no SSI?

What's fair about penalizing those who worked hard to get ahead just so those who partied up can live off them?

    Love,

    Gary

    • Posted By: Rocker68 @ 11/10/2008 9:37:23 PM

Gee, why don't we create more of those wealth creating good jobs. I know a lot of people who have worked hard and not partied, who have no health insurance. Is that a penalty? Or is that just for people who have "good jobs making" them "rich".

    • Posted By: surt@uga.edu @ 11/10/2008 8:40:31 PM

The fairness is that the rich receive a larger benefit from the protection they receive from the government. Not having the poor people come kill you and take your stuff is a much bigger benefit to the rich than to the poor. That's why the rich have to pay a larger share, they are getting much (MUCH) more benefit.
