Liberals so called Liberals- Liberty was not instituted as an excuse for inmorality and murder but this is why America is going down. Immorality has become a way of life among this nation and noone cares. Who pays, our children. Thanks to the Liberals our children will see abortion, adultury and all other immorality as they grow up and then we make believe we are upset. Guess what- that is what American's have voted for immorality. In our schools, in our government, in our churches- our founding Fathers are frowning at America today. I pray that God helps all of you out there because I know where I am standing... Do You?

I think it is the right move to not prosecute. It would cost New Yorkers thousands of dollars that we can not afford. Spitzer will be paying for his sins for the rest of his life. Putting him in jail would have cost even more, politician or not. There are murderers, rapists, child abusers (list goes on and on) that is where the attention should go. Politicians will be bad (99% of them) on either side of the rope. I think it was the right move, let Spitzers wife, family and professional connections take care of him. I am sure he will be paying for a long time.

Why isn't his party affiliation mentioned "he is a Democrat" i gaurantee that if he was a Republican the headline would be "Republican govenor Eliot Spitzer won't be tried" but wait a minute, the main stream media doesn't go after dems with the same vitriol as they do repubs.

Sorry my friend they did with CLINTON...you guys made such a case with KEN STARRS' report and Monica's Lewinskys' Blue dress... so yes democrats also pay the judging and critique...like reps do.
sad to say looks like we are living still in 1958 not 2008... These issues should be a thing of the past.
But again we are so hipocritical correct... right?

      • Posted By: x-ray111 @ 11/12/2008 7:44:14 PM

jliaz: Everyone knows what denonation Clinton was but if it was the govenor of say Oklahoma would everyone know what part he is affiliated with? And no I am not being hippocritical, should we not hold our politicians to a higher standard? they are the ones who after all make the laws. And just what constitutes a misdemeanor if he is to be impeached. If i get a speeding ticket it is a misdemeaner and according to the Constitution the President can be impeached for high crime and misdemeaners.

On February 26, 2008, Alycia Martin's case made national headlines when US Senator Debbie Stabenow's husband, Thomas Athans, was questioned and released as part of the investigation into a prostitution ring at the Troy, Michigan hotel.
Athans, who was pulled over by Troy police the night of Feb. 26, admitted to officers during a traffic stop that he met a woman online and paid her $150 for oral sex at the hotel. Troy police learned Athans had a suspended driver's license but released him without arrest, expecting his cooperation in the criminal case against Martin. Martin was arrested several hours later and charged with prostitution. Martin's story of recovery and survivorship is on her blogspot site set up by her pro bono attorney Frank Cusumano, Jr.

Athans was never charged in the case and never testified.

How so very interesting that the media at large has ceased to identify the adulterous politician with the Democratic Party when every effort is made to exploit the transgressions of another party, be that Independent, Republican or Libertarian. Myopic versions of life as posted in the press that wants to be the voice of neutrality. Bah!

Eliot Spitzer's a Democrat. The rules/laws don't apply to them. Why is anyone even questioning this. We have more inportant things to deal with in this country.

Was Spitzer the one who was so gung ho to get Johns on the sex offender list?

    • Posted By: judymm @ 11/12/2008 7:36:21 PM

yeah he was but there lettin his ass off the hook if it was any one else theyd be in jail y is he so damm specoial ????/

I am glad they are not prosecuting - it would have cost the taxpayers thousands of dollars and quite frankly spitzer will be paying for this for the rest of his life. New York has no money - why spend more trying to put a the guy in jail, we have murderers that get out in short time who should be spending more time in jail. Like I said he has paid professionally and personally and will be for many years to come. What he did was shameful and as a New Yorker it was very disappointing. I think it was the right choice to make it go away for the public.

The extraordinarily sexist state of affairs reached its zenith recently when Thomas Athans, husband of Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), was observed by cops entering and leaving a hotel in Troy, Mich., that was under surveillance for prostitution. Athans confessed to paying $150 for oral sex. Athans, 47, was not arrested. The 21-year-old prostitute was. Adding insult to injury, Athans was expected to testify against the woman at her evidentiary hearing! She pleaded guilty, and Athans never had to appear.

Wow. This country sucks. I'm 34 now and I've become a lot more aware of world affairs and I must say the USA is one big disappointment. Everything is a falacy, nothing is as its claimed to be. If I were outside looking in on humans I would see nothing more than a big front for a bunch of creatures who can't accept reality so they lie to make themselves feel better or to avoid taking responsibility. The word parasite comes to mind. In lies we trust.

      Thank you,

We have become a society of beings that go by the phrase of "Fake it til you make it" I have had superiors that make twice what I do that have no idea what is going on around them. Let alone an MBA or PhD that can't even boot up a laptop or better yet figure out how to enter a timesheet once they do. Ok I had better stop. But yes i do agree with you we have really become a disappointment, to ourselves and those around us. All for a few bucks and a few minutes of satisfaction. I'll refer to my previous statement "What if that was your daughter?"

  • Posted By: zapy @ 11/12/2008 7:34:38 PM

I don't know why here in the U.S. make a big deal about prostitution, all over the world prostitution is practiced and perhaps that is why in Europe there is a low percent of murder and rape, will it be because there they made it legal, the prostitute are kept under control when it comes to the spread of venereal diseases, and the states tax the prostitutes and tap into the wealth of the millions of $US by controlling prostitution.
Prostitution have been around from a long, long time, so says the bible.

it figures. A Democrat that can break the law, as Clinton did and not be served any punishment. That's why this country is going to He#l in a handbang. Democrats make the rules as they go, I guess if they had their party leader, Clinton engage in sex, in the White House, as the most powerful man in the country, why can't they. DemocRATS.

    • Posted By: fattdaddy19 @ 11/12/2008 7:32:36 PM

Hey Skipster56, You do realize that the Department of Justice is still run by the Bush Administration. There is enough blame to go around. Let's nof forget that the Republicans are just as guilty of sexual transgressions as the Democrats. People in power have get there by having egos and sometimes those get them into trouble.

This is not about whether sex is natural or not, it's about morality, or the lack of...and ethics or morals have to do with inner standards of self respect, self esteem, a feeling of accountability to society. Trying to keep a clean conscience now days is not easy, but it is possible. To breech this standard is an unhealthy act of abuse not only against himself but against his trusted circle of influence, family and most certainly against the girl. demonstrates
