Prosecuting Johns

Alan Dershowitz has no soul either!!!!!!!

While I understand that the DOJ cannot sporadically select who it prosecutes for a certain class of crime, it has a duty and obligation to the public to enforce all classes of crimes. It is sad to know that women, who are arguably more vulnerable, are not treated and protected equally. My personal sentiment is that former Gov. Spitzer, like all johns, should be prosecuted for breaking the law. Mr. Spitzer's heinous acts merit an equally heinous punishment. The fact that such a high profile case can go unpunished is truly a betrayal to the public, including all women and men in prostitution and the young kids who in a few years will also join them.

seems to me that the liberals hardly ever get prosecuted as they should.Look at Clinton.He should have been jailed and never was.Look at Chris Dodd in connecticut,big bank watchdog for fannie mae and freddie mac.He got a low interest loan and claims he didn't realize it was a low interest loan.Good watchdog.They are good at spin and blaming the other party all the time.

This Spritzer person thinks he have the cake with the cherry on top? Had a good family and the New York State had trusted him with their tax dollars? Let him tell this story to an innocent incarcinated person, who is fighting for his/her freedom. Individuals like her should go into a mental illness clinic - as a matter of fact - both of them should receive mental help!

This is bullshit; of course Mr. Clinton led the charge. if Clinton can do it so can Bill Clinton. Sex in politics; well Washington,D.C. is nothing but a whore house. The writer constantly refers to prostitution as the sale of women, it could perhaps be better and more accurately described as the sale of sexual services. The notion that the woman involved in the incident was traficked is ludricous. Trackficked by whom? She voluntarily and on her own devices made the comute to sell her sexual services, no one forced her to, she wanted to ply her trade and for handsome rewards. How can Spitzer be said to have 'transported a woman across state lines', the woman crossed state lines yes, but on her own. I beleive tarcficing should be reserved for situations wher the person transported was coerced or tricked and the movement involved some other illegal act such as crossing international borders. In this case the Emporors Club was merely acting as an agent for women who are prepared to offer sexual services. Agency arrangements in sexual transactions may be described as pimping but is little diffrent in this specific case than an entertainer using an agent for bookings.

It is perhaps true that the arrest of johns is a desired position as often the johns themselves have psycological problems which can lead to the abuse of the vendor of sexual services.

We live in a society that is circling the drain due to short sighted compassion and mitigation of consequence. We are culturally stagnant because we have dismissed the necessity of suffering for the peretuation of evolution. Simply stated: No pain, no gain. Unless we let people suffer for their mistakes, they do not learn. Unless we let people suffer, society will. Of course in this case it really must be asked if the illegality of prostitution is sensible. But their is no denying that it is, and that this man knew better. His crimes pale in comparison to other white collar robber barons, who mock justice, while a numbed society fails to demand better. I have begun to see that, quite perversely, discourse between moderates accomplishes nothing, only radicals ever get anything done.

He's ashamed himself, his family, his career is destroyed and obviously humiliated, he hurt himself and the people around him, all people can do is look at him in disgrace/disgust.

We should just save the taxpayers monies to investigate the Bush administration. It's obvious they have done much wrong and it's intricate web will take much to time to unravel, they have done a great deal of damage in all aspects of our country and if it hasn't affected you yet, it soon will.

Spitzer needs to have/volunteer for the same punishments he was advocating for his fellow citizens if they were caught ie. jail time, registered sex offender, etc. To not get anything more as a consequence than what was forced on him as a result of having public office is ridiculous. As for those conspirator buffs saying this was a result of some whistle blowing to come - where have you been the last 12 months - drinking the main stream KoolAid? There were members of both parties though predominantly Repubs going before the various House and Senate committees begging for reforms on the Clinton passed legislation requirements to reduce the lending standards at Banks so that anyone with a blood pressure could get a loan. They Dem controlled committees - Frank - said everything was fine. Nothing wrong at Fanny or Freddie. The tape is out there. Heck even Obama - The One - supposedly wrote letters to his fellow party members asking for help. Not that he cared a whole lot about it since former CEO's of those to failed institutions played key roles as economic advisors to his team.
The issue is where is the outcry for doing the crime now do the time.... if he is not a prime candidate to be made an example of as a deterrent who would be? some poor "john" that no one ever heard of or that would give a second thought about?

I don't care if there is a victim in this operation or not. What does NY law say about Johns? If they are punishable under the law, book the governor. If Attorney General wouldn't do it, sue him for dereliction of duty. Don't tell me there is not one lawyer in NY state who cannot pursue this !

All that this shows is that money talks and that if you have money, are male, then a different set of rules apply to you. The reason I specified male is that when Martha Stewart was convicted for her EVIL DEEDS, the owner of a Ford dealership in Yonkers NY that was going out of business was busy trading cars to people and telling them that their old car loans were negated when traded in old car for a new car and car loan. NOT. Dealer went out of business and months later a dozen people or so found out that they had 2 loans. This dealer had some friends speak for him- David Dinkins- Ed Koch. What is the connection? Here is what is pathetic, I heard a radio host take call-ins from wives that did unusual things to please their husband sexually to keep their sexual life interesting. A 23 year old young woman called in to say that she did a ???threesome??? with her husband and her best girlfriend, to please him. Now, she is insecure every time her girlfriend is around her and her husband because she thinks that her husband wants to have sex with her friend again.

Well, duh, you should have thought of that before you made a stupid decision of agreeing that your husband could have sex with your girl friend. Not only did this girl cause a division between her husband and herself, but she caused a division between herself and her friend. Not to mention the trust between her and her husband is severed now. All this emotional damage that was created just for an organism or should I say for an ???orgy.??? Well, good luck honey, you put the stamp of approval on your husband that it is okay to cheat so now you have to leave with the mistrust and agony of thinking that he is cheating on you.

Does anybody see the hypcrisy of our MSM? Any liberals? Tell me WHY no party affiliation for Spitzer, but one for Mark Foley?

Spitzer should be prosocuted to the fullest extent of the law. Police stings are set up in N.Y., utilizing female officers to solicit "johns". The men arrested are prosocuted, and admission of guilt has not swayed the judges in setencing these people. This is a blatant display of biased judges in our system. The judge in this case should be ashamed of his actions, and his decision needs to be overturned.

Spritzer should be banned from politics period! He got away with this? There are innocent incarcinated folks who are still fighting for their freedom!
