Prosecuting Johns

This is a disgusting miscarriage of justice - in addition to violating the laws of the State of New York, the Mann Act has also been violated. Spitzer has not "paid for his sin" - it has only become public knowledge.

Spitzer is nothing more than a pawn in a much larger game. He was cracking down on the con men who are so abundant on Wall St. and it began to ruffle the wrong feathers so he was "Assassinated" so to speak. There is a much larger and important story here underneath this prostitution cover story.

Why is the fact that he is a democrat never mentioned in this article? If it was a republican who got caught doing that, the word republican would have been in every sentence. Do you not realize that this type of bias reporting is doing a disservice to the nation. Your job is to hold all politicians accountable, not just those who hold different political philosophies as you.

So why not legalize prostitution along the lines in Europe. Many women actually choose the profession, and have no problem with it. The issue is it is illegal and it will always be around. You cannot eliminate it. But you can make it safer, and more transparent, and less of a drag on our justice system. The only other alternative is to make sure every couple is happily having sex and won't need anything on the side. Riiiight.

I can't believe that some of you have taken this to the political side of things. Do you really think the girl or women really cares who the sleeze bag is voted for? Prostution has been and will always be there and if you are a man that can say you have never payed for it .... i.e. Strip Club, Call Girl or Off the Street good for you and those that have next time you do, close your eyes and think that's someones daughter... I bet willy will go home quick after that...

this is how it is...the people who make these laws are the first to break them, and never enforce them on their own...for example in my town which is in california, a fireman has a randesvous(sp) with a prostitute at the park in the middle of the day at a small park across the street from our neighbors house...mind you which is also across the street from an elementary school that has an after schoo; program. the hooker proceeds to lift her dress above her waist and jump on the firemans lap and go to town...well to get my kids down the street to our house i have to call our local police dept. to get rid of these two outstanding citizens...not one but two patrol cars come, a total of four officers...their laughing with the hooker and the fireman and we're waiting to go home....no citation. no nothing...their the biggest pervs around...theres no service, and the only protecting is the own a$$es

Yet another example of the wealthy being able to evade the laws the rest of us have to live by. But, what do we expect when the laws are made by lawmakers (also wealthy) who don't ahve to abide by them.

People are going after Spritzer because he went after people for breaking the Law. Spritzer would not haved rented a Prostitution if the Emperor's club had not existed. Ms Dupre is making all sorts of bogus defenses like being abused during Childhood. She joined the Emperor's club because she wanted to become frich. People go after womeen In Spritzer's case he merely showed a lack of Juudgement. He did not have tr=to hire a prostitute to have sex. He'd a high position. The girls would have gone after him if hed merely had signaled hs availability. In his case he merely looked in to a log of available prostitutes rather than inot a log of available girls, who are interested in men, from the society who are interested in mken. For that lack of juugement he paid a heavy price. He gave up his job of Governor to another man wsho might never have won the governorship in a free election. Look in this years presidential election and in the presidential election eight years ago. McCain lost. He'll never again get another chance. By his lack of judgement Governor Spritzerr handed over the Governorship of NYS to a man without contesting an election. You can't just hang Governor Spritzer for lack of judgement.

It is not April so this can not be a joke, but it does make the USA legal system very laughable. it is funny how some people can live above the law and they get away with it... He should not get away with this.. the law is the law.... or may be just for some..???

Yes , what he did was wrong. He, however, took responsibility for his actions and gave up his office. That's something Barney Frank,Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy and many other abusers did not do. Kudos to Eliot Spitzer and shame on the others. Leave him alone or prosecute every other john and malfeasant -equality for all.

Prostitution, the worlds' oldest profession, is under attack by the elitest do-gooders, like Norma Ramos and friends. To ban a consenting act between two adults, one of which gets paid well and one of which is willing to pay makes as much sense as banning booze (we all know how well that worked) makes no sense to me. I certainly don't favor "white-slavery" or any other illigal act, but what about those women who willing to make a good living and use that income to move on into other (more accepted) professions. I say legalize it, regulate it, i.e.Health checks, exit opportuities, eliminate the drug users etc. Consenting adults, proforming a natural act is not Criminal and shouldn't be treated as such.
