Great advice for President-elect Obama and well written!

As the new President and Vice President are choosing their cabinet(s), it is still important to keep in mind the other concerning manners happening not only with the United States but also around the world. The Global Poverty Act is an act that would help cut the global poverty/hunger in half by 2015 with the help of the Millennium Development Goal. The Borgen Project is helping to do their part by bringing attention to this fact. To find out more go to www.borgenproject.org!

Think of your country first. Why to waste money on countries which do not want to help themselves?

Well written article: more regulation does not necessarily translate to better regulation. What bureaucracy will be more effective at picking the winners and losers than the free market?

Actually, there are significant psychological parallels to our current situation

Panic breeds panic, and eventually madness ensues.

So perhaps my compassion level might be off kilter, but we all know that some of us are already infected

If your debt is too high, or you???re upside down in your property, or you have been playing leverage games your already as good as dead.

Those of us who are NOT infected must be wary of those who are, because once their death becomes apparent to them, they will try and eat YOU just to stay alive.

Pumping money into the walking dead is more than counterproductive, it is morally wrong. We must dispatch the dead from our midst???s before they consume us.

No more bailouts for anyone!! Just behead them and burn them while we can.

I am SOOOOO worried about what comes next!

Has anyone seen any zombies yet? You gotta know they are coming!

I have seen this coming for a while so I am prepared with a zombie plan that GUARANTEES survival in the days to come.

I would tell you all my plan, but I am counting on you as fodder for the zombie flesh smorgasbord that I will be using as my cover during my escape.

So please, no one blow their brains out just yet. If times are too hard just amputate your arms or something, I will soon need you all as my diversion.

    So repeat after me: BBBRRRAAAIIIINNNNNSSSSS

???Only banks can loan money they don???t have and charge interest for it. Because the elite who own
the banks made it a policy that the bank can loan 10 dollars for every 1 it actually has.
That is what created the current financial mess or as they say problem with liquidity.
They created the problem by loaning money they did not even have to loan.
Dishonest usury is what it is.

Full disclosure of banking policies would be nice lets have it all put on the table for every one to
see just how corrupt they are taking food and housing from people who work hard while they sit
in there penthouses reading about bank bailout's. No don???t feel sorry for them feel sorry for the
people who are being crushed under there feet from the dishonest usury.

Most people had to give a down payment before 2004 for a home and if you where considered
risky you had to give a bigger down payment.
    For example
on a loan of 180,000 with medium to low risk you would fork out 7000.00 to buy a home.

Now what does that translate into for the bank.
The banks can loan 10 dollars for every 1 dollar they have and charge interest for the loan.
win - win for the bank
1 = 10 for them right off plus interest
    7000 = 70,0000 plus interest
then you have a payment of 750.00 or so with interest on the loan
750.00 = 7500.00 plus interest per month as you pay in for them
1 year of payments = 90,000 plus interest for them to loan to others.
so if you put 7000.00 down and finance 180,000.00 they get repaid in one year with a payment of
    750.00
Sounds strange but remember 1 dollar is as good as ten to them for every dollar they take in they
    can loan 10
So don???t feel sorry for them and bail them out. Bail out the public who just keeps paying not
    knowing any better.

If you paid a down payment on your house and then you paid on it for even a year you paid it off
in the banks books. 30+ times over if you paid for 30 years.

They use that extra money after the year to pay there salaries of 22 million for 22 days on the job. What a joke.

The real value of the Dow = 6100 NAS = 1200 S&P = 400 it will reach these values and it may go lower you can move stocks around from one index to the other and so on but this is the overall value. It has been pumped up artificially then they let the air out after they bilk the public for there savings. Its a Joke.

Paulson is a liar and they the people behind him will say anything to accomplish there aim bringing you and I to our financial knees to the benefit of big coporations. There is no america anymore its gone only corporatism and greed are left and they will soon fall too. By Febuary 2009 the paper money they print daily in the sum of billions of dollars will be uterly valueless even now they are making there last moves in order to seal the deal.

Let's try to reduce all of this to the simplicity of a conversation out on the job by the guys eating out of a lunch box and drinking something from a thermos as, for example, "if this has all been so smart, then why in the hell aren't we rich?"

    • Posted By: marley07 @ 11/12/2008 10:35:52 PM

Well the answer to why we are not all rich is simply because people are smarter than others, people are more ambitious than others, some get luckier than others, and some cheat the system to get rich. Those who typically complain about the system are those who have not figured out how to get to that point or they don't care to as it is not what is important to them. The reason so many love livng here and want to come live here is the fact that you have a choice and an opportunity to make something out of nothing if you choose to.

It is amazing to me how people are so convinced that the economic state we are currently is Bush's fault. There are many decisions that he made that people have a right to question, I am certainly not going to argue that, but for people to think that one administration can create an economic meltdown of this magnitude is fascinating. There are so many moving parts to this problem that even the smartest economists, investors, and leaders in this country and the entire world for that matter don't have all the answers to fix it. There are numerous places to point the finger here. The American public is the first place to start. Leverage, borrow, spend without ever saving or having the realization that there will be a time you might have to pay for what ever it was you purchased. Then the fact that we had articially low interest rates for years followed by this idea that we should make sure everyone owns a home and lowered that standard of borrowing never actually making sure that whatever was borrowed could be paid back. The current credit crisis and housing crisis that has choked our economy was created long before Bush came into office. The scary part is that most of the general public does not understand how bad it really is and how long it will take to come out of it. This notion that Obama can just come and clean it up with a simple ideology is nonsense.

40 Year D ??? finally you took a break, I???m proud of you. Do that more often, it???s good for you. Did you take a bike ride? You crack me up. Well, I don???t know what you do but I do notice that you must really like the goofballs because you spend a lot of time on the Newsweek website. Listen, you sound like you need a vacation. Go to Mexico or South America or anywhere else??? you should be able to take time off and take a vacation. When you get back, I guaranteed you will kiss the ground. Because no matter where you go, there is no other place in the world like the USA! This may change I pray it doesn???t because I???ve traveled and I love my country. I don???t like the fool that will take office in January.

Well, gotta go again. I???ve got a real life and have to many things to do. I???m a mother, a wife and I work full-time. I get on when I can.

    Bye

The bigger problem is your belief that ideology should determine policy. But Obama is a pragmatic common-sense problem-solver, as he should be. Decades of free trade, unregulated greed, and unchecked outsourcing have left the US economy over-leveraged and over-indebted with an evanescent industrial base. That does NOT work., but you don't care. An example of your bias is your statement that Fannie Mae is not needed any more. But you admit it was created toensure housing loans would be made, and everyone knows that they are not being made right now. Come back to me when you can think straight.

Oversimplifications are dangerous. For example, India's balance of payments crisis was solved by large remittances from expatriates, encouraged by special interest rates as well as appeals to nationalism.. And during these 20 years, India has made no progress on poverty, illiteracy, hygiene, population control or clean water. India's indigenous businesses have suffered in the face of extremely well financed foreign firms. corporations.

Actually, I am a joy to hang around with! Did I make you mad? The truth hurts! I've got things to do 40 year old whatever. You go ahead and spend the rest of your day hanging around your computer :)

"Sunshine": Ignorance doesn't make me angry. That you typically resort to name calling when someone disagrees with you is now, unfortunately, consistent with the viewpoint you keep spouting. What hurts is all that so many hysterics and bigots are now considered "the base" of the party. The party will keep shrinking as long as that is the case.

As far as hanging around my computer, my office is glass on three sides, overlooking my 3 acre private pond. Five deer have cruised through this morning. There are three extended families of geese that breed here. They're on the pond, and grazing on the grass outside the window along with the ducks and wild turkeys....It goes on and on. I walk out on my dock to take breaks from playing with goofballs. When I'm not doing that, I'm not out doing my 20 to 50 mile daily bike ride...

The horribles are in your head, m'dear...

Rock on from another 40 yo'er! My office has one wall of glass and I start my day checking in on meetings and projects in my p.j.'s or yoga clothes.....

Obama may put a crimp in the next few years....but I have more than the 20-somethings who will be crying in 4 years....oh, the joy of life!

Off to the barn to go ride....

        • Posted By: 40YearR @ 11/12/2008 6:32:54 PM

"kas-wolf": I'm not expecting to be crimped over the next four years, except as the residue of the last 8. As a skeptic, I haven't seen anything about Obama that looks anything other than an extremely bright pragmatist. If things prove to be otherwise, I'll be evaluating things like I'm now evaluating the last 8 years.

"Sunshine": "If he did that before he got elected..." More horribles in your head, only.

Many of us who were paying attention decided that an important factor, in addition to his superior intellect, in voting for Obama, is that he did not engage in the lies, distortions and smears that the Bush machine McC hired immediately commenced and conducted right into election day.

Ten years ago Congress told the biggest financial companies in the U.S. they could begin merging and creating holding companies, and that the banking portion of these firms could deal with risky real estate and securities. That action sowed the seeds that have now resulted in a financial collapse that will cost trillions of dollars to fix. All on the average tax payers back. So that means the Democrats were in the White House, and so that makes the Democrats responsible. Only 8, Eight of all the Senators and Representatives stood up for what everyone with a brain could see what was going to happen.
One was a senator from ND. Mr. Dorgan said " if you want to gamble, go to Las Vegas." How right those 8 were. They predicted "future massive tax payer bailouts". Yet never once, did the media ever say one thing about this before the election.
That is because your Hollywood rag, along with all the other news medias are owned bought and paid for all commentary by the Liberal Democrats. YES the Clinton administration and then congress is to blame for this mess.
BUSH has a lot to answer for to God and man, but this crap is not one of them. Now people think the Democrats are the people who will fix this overnight. Just goes to show what the average American remembers, and what the liberal news media of this country want the people to remember.

"fix this overnight" after it took 8 whole years for the Bush administration to double our national debt?

Wait a sec. You claim Congress created this problem ten years ago... and therefore it's the Democrats' fault?

THE REPUBLICANS WERE IN CONTROL OF CONGRESS TEN YEARS AGO, FOOL! Both houses of Congress belonged to the Republicans continuously from 1994 through 2006, except for a brief period from 2001 to 2002 when the Democrats had a one-vote edge in the Senate.

Before telling other people to do their research, perhaps you should do some of your own.
