I would rather give Tesla Motors a piece of the bailout money then GM. At least Tesla has the guts and ability to put our a completely new, non petrol powered drive - and a very impressive one at that. Tesla's electric car ramped up to mass production would drop dramatically in price and be a far more convenient to operate vehicle than GM's Volt.

Let's hope we receive comments from Tesla employees.

We 've seen so many small car manfs go bust, let's not badmouth Tesla.

Was this article meant to inform? It reads like a tub full of sour grapes. What's wrong, Mr.Lyons? Do you want a Tesla Roadster but can't pony up the cash?
Despite all the criticisms stated (the EPA rated range is 40 miles farther, btw) and the banal he said, he said, the fact remains they are building amazing cars that Detroit won't be able to produce for years. Are they a little late? Yeah. Are they perfect? Almost.
Seems to me Detroit could easily learn a lesson from Tesla but they're too busy begging the government for BILLIONS of our dollars.

as a recent lay-off telsa employee, i must say tesla has some really bad management with that silicon valley cocky attitude. i totally agree that telsa is run by bunch of people that don't know anything about cars, and they've just recently realize that could hurt them. on top of all, they need to start paying people on time.. just a tip.

    Interesting subject,injust aricle...

It is remarkable that a high tech roadster made in high-cost CA,as good or better than a Porsche 911,costs a relatively competitive 109K.

    Cheaper than a Ferrari.

The effort is rather succesful,so far.

The bottom line: Tesla Motors is delivering awesome cars that people want so much they are willing to put down $65,000 deposits a year in advance of delivery. Everything else in this article is content-free rant.
