Your final question is so very good. What would Lincoln do? The unfortunate truth is that Lincoln would send Obama and his family and all other non-100%-white folk back to where they came from (or closer if someone would take them and it was cheaper). But he would not have them in the United States - except as slaves, which was his first choice. The history is there, but it is smothered by the myth.

Why do columnists insist on saying America is a "center right nation?" Define this for me please. A majority of the country wants health care reform, a draw down in Iraq, bipartisinship in government, finacial reform (better regulations), and a fairer trade system with other nations. I call that a center center nation. Just because the Republicans rallied their lunatic base in 2000 (even without the majority of the popular vote) and squeked it out in 2004 during two wars to win the presidency doesn't mean we are a center right nation. That's ludacris. Exit polls are never right.

I hope Bill Richardson gets Secretary of State and Hillary stays in the Senate to help pass the smart legislation the Obama administration is going to come up with. God knows anything will be an improvement from the past eight years!

Sorry I made a typo in my last message. LisainVA spending $3million would be giving 300 million people just over 3cents each not 30cents. Your plan would still cost $300trillion.

LisainVA, I don't know what Obama compared with Lincoln has to do with bailouts. But if you hand out $3million to 300 million people they would get just over 30 cents each not $1million each. Giving them $1million each as you plan would cost 300million million dollars which actually comes to $300trillion.

I don't WANT to compare Obama to Lincoln any time soon. I demand that the Secret Service PROTECT Obama better! We really NEED him to lead us back into prosperity. I've been a Republican all my life, but I know a good thing when I see it, and I want Obama to take our nation back to the place where we are perceived as the unending leaders of the Free World. There is MUCH to be done, and we cannot afford for the person who most of all can lead us to our promised land to be bothered.

Such a disconnect here.... Lincoln came out of Western Civilization thinking, and could not even have imagined the effect of Karl Marx world wide... much less imagine a person coming out of an atheist, , , Marxist, Muslim tradition, and becoming the President-elect. As an aside, it is an odd mix; maybe that is why he was writing his memoirs at age 44... Who am I, anyway??
