    Rove said "Avoid mindless opposition"
That is what the Republican Party is all about.
They are Anti labor, anti taxes, anti abortion, anti everything, but most important is the anti labor.
The working class is the larger part of America, Republicans are anti everything the American middle class are about. And after Nixon Reagan and now Bush, Republicans have all but eliminated the middle class in this country.
If you are an unemployed auto worker or steel worker or even a plumber what the Republican party offers is the advise "go get a degree" like the country can support another 90 million attorneys and stock brokers or insurance sales men.
America does not need the Republican Party, it is the party of Me Me Me and I'll screw America to get it.

You refused to believe that Hillary could be defeated. Even after Obama won you
    could not except it.
defeat. You made comments like someone has to show Him how it's done in this town. I guess you forgot Obama is not the outsider you think he his.
He has been friends with some of the most well connected idividuals in D.C for a long time and he has been living in D.C for
the last four years. I know you are intelligent but your emotions have blinded you from the facts.
Do you know UFO exists and that the Clintons were kept in the dark.

  • Posted By: eddiewhere @ 11/18/2008 2:29:11 AM

Obama knew all about government secret agencies and the exsistence of UFO's before he became President. There are very few people in
Government that have access to the world's knowledge. It is shared amongst an elite few and they are very
secretive. When Truman was informed that UFO's were discovered a special part of the military was asked to analyze the material that was found.
This military hired top scientists who were sworn to secrecy. Over time these technologies were adopted by
defense contractors and slowly released to the public. The people who run these entities work in conjuction
with the CIA. Only people at the top of these agencies know whats going on. Knowledge is power and "Power is knowledge"(eddiwhere 08). If the public
had access to even a fraction of this knowlege these elites have, then there would be a panic. UFO's is just the tip of the iceberg. The President represents these
elites and this is why they help protect this knowlege. It is like if someone discovered the original arc of the covenant and the original ten commandments.
For example Muhammed was not visited by GOD but rather SATAN. Muhammed confused Satan for GOD. IF he thought GOD WAS SATAN then he would not follow his
will. Think about it. The devil is very cunninPart of Evil is deception. If God had passed his message on to Humans. Would Satan not do the same. It is very difficult for
humans to think like this. Muhammed thought God was telling him to conquer the earth until everyone became a Muslim and recognized there was only one GOD ALLAH.
Satan is very powerful and very cunning. TOday we have people committing suicide in the name of ISLAM. THAT is what Satan intended to do. THis is his way of fighting
GOD. ANd he did it in a genius way. He disguised himself like GOD and used Muhammed as his conduit.
Muhammed confused Satan for GOD. IF he thought GOD WAS SATAN then he would not follow his will. Think about it.

This is why MUHAMMED was so successful because he really believed he was carrying out the will of GOd and justified murder in his name.
IF you read about Muhammed's life you will see that what I am stating is backed by facts.

IT is hard for us humans to think outside of our '"domain" because we have been indoctrinated to think a certain way until knowledge hits us.
Here is another example. If you bend space you can cross dimensions and therefore can literally step from one world to another without any time going by.

Karl Rove is not impressed by Barack Obama's margin of victory. He writes, "...Barack Obama received only 3.1 points more than Al Gore in 2000 and only 4.6 points more than John Kerry in 2004." In his eyes, that is not much of a mandate.

To put Mr. Rove's vision of a mandate in perspective, remember that of the 26 elections from 1904 to 2004, Pres. Bush's margin of victory in the 2004 popular vote placed 23rd, ahead only of Wilson in 1916, Kennedy in 1960, and Gore in 2000. Slim margins of victory never seemed to matter to Mr. Rove when his candidate was on the winning side of them.

What is best for the GOP and what is best for the country are two entirely different things.

The GOP plundered the country behind a smoke screen of fighting gay marriage, abortion and taxes. They brought back the spoils system with a vengeance, mislabeling it as capitalism. It was "anything goes" to make a quick buck.

And now we are up to our ears with massive debt and nothing much to show for it in terms of schools, health care, infrastructure, a broken military, etc. as the country teeters on the edge of bankruptcy.

Why would anybody in their right minds want to give these thieves another shot at destroying our country.

Given that the damage done to our country by the conservatives is far worse than that done by Al Qaeda, the first question is whether or not the GOP could and should be listed as a terrorist organization.

If so, perhaps Cheney and Rove could share a cave with Osama Bin Laden.

I understand how the McCain could use the phrase "Country First" as its slogan, given the Senator's adult experiences. However, it was mindboggling to see his followers echo that refrain when their practice has always been "Me First." They want to fight a war, but they don't want to pay for it. They want federal spending cut, as long as it isn't cut in their back yard. To them, "Waste in government" refers to projects funded in congressional districts represented by Democrats.

Obama Administration will inherit a large budget deficits plus all the financial crisis bailout, greatly increase thanks to GOP dooms of fear policy.Obama should take clue from ???Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself???: FDR???s First Inaugural Address.

    OBAMA NEEDS REMOVE THIS AS BELOW;
    * First,Wars of choice -such as Iraq will no longer be possible, not only did Iraq contribute to busting US budget, but also undermined US national security and moral authority.
*Second, two decades of tax cuts and anti-government ideology, propagated by Republican, are over, even after the financial crisis eases, foreign borrowing will remain difficult, local borrowing is unlikely to replace it,and there will be more government regulations of the market.
*Third, for households, the days of getting into debt to live beyond their means are over.Credit will become more costly because of increase regulation, reduced foreign borrowing,a massive wave of immninent baby-boomer retirements as well as more competition with government spending for scarer domestic and foreign savings.excess debt and comsumption will give way to thrift, downsizing, and energy conservation.
*Fourth, attracting foreign direct Investment to help cover the budget deficit, resue bankrupt corporation, lift depressed asset prices, fund new private sector techonological innovation policies.Open up US tourism back .
*Fifth,Obama administration must entering an era when adage "" all politic is local"will give way to the truth that "all economic is Global"specifically find that paying for the proflifacy of the past, and meeting the obligations of the future, will require a loss of political autonomy and surrender of many cherished ideologies of both left and right from tax cuts to trade protectionism. In international economics,The Main Obama knows that the Reason the "United Statesis not Just another country "is its ability to borrow from foreigners in its own currency. He should know that, this is because the US dollar has been a reserve currency since world war II,When countries like Brazil Or Indonesia borrow from abroad, they borrow in foreign currencies, mostly US dollar. If they run persistent deficits, thier currencies will depreciate and the burden of their foreign debt will increase. This does not happen to US ,which can make foreigners bear the currency risk of lending to it.If the dollar falls as result of persisntent US fiscal and current accounts deficits, its is foreign creditors not Americans who suffer, since Americans can pay their foreign debts in their own currency.
Thats the reason Why Obama is the Best President of United States .

    The Reps have denounced racism,.

Let me guess....The Grand Ole Party is done, finished....caput!!! LOL, keep underestimating us kids, that's how we like it!! LOL!!

I confess. I couldn't make it past the introductory sentence "we've been walloped in consecutive elections, but we can't just dwell on the past."
Mr. Rove confuses dwelling on the past with considering the past and its consequences. He's like the boy that you take the matchbook and lighter away from, only to discover he now tries to use a flamethrower.
I find it difficult in the circumstances that we find ourselves, our economy, our very government in, that someone like Rove has anything qualifying or enlightening to the situation to say.

  • Posted By: AphiA12 @ 11/17/2008 3:02:43 PM

Rove is in the process of revamping his image after the rejection of his destructive brand of politics. Newsweek you have taken his bait hook, line and sinker. Rove is very afraid of the new administration and congress coming after him of many of his illegal actions over the past 8 years.
I am center-left in my politics, however, I have found myself to be more "conservative" than many of the people who I know are reps (see if Westmoreland can recite the 10 Commandments yet!). Until the Reps rids themselve of the herd mentality and narrowmindednes of their legions of blind followers (i.e. Findey, Ohio), and firmly renounce racism and bigotry, they will continue to struggle to make significant gains going forward.

  • Posted By: RBSHEA @ 11/17/2008 2:51:28 PM

Turd Blossom continues to have platforms like Newsweek and Faux News.
He sounds all noble and rational in this column if one ignores the assertions that pass for Holy Political Writ.
Meantime, expect that, off-camera and behind the scenes, Rove will be up to his usual tricks, crafting slimeball tactics and media manipulation that in fact have been major contributions to where the Rethugnican Party finds itself today. His references to "values" always bring a loud guffaw for their hypocrisy and cynical underpinnings. If the so-called Christian right hasn't figured out Rove's game by now, they'll play along again.
Should be fun to watch except for the damage Rove and his ilk have caused and for which he should, in a just world and country, be held accountable.

  • Posted By: northofnowhere @ 11/17/2008 2:27:46 PM

Newsweek get a clue, we do not care what K. Rove thinks. Because the RNC followed his lead the nation and his party are a huge mess. Being a conservative use to mean you were fiscally responsible, supported a strong nation defense and minimal gov. involvement in your life. Now it means imposing your religious values on others in the form of gov policy, and spending us into bankruptcy. Along the way lets break any law that we find inconvenient (V. Plame's outing) This clown and his cohort's should be in jail writing appeals rather than spilling their bs on the good pages of a once respected news magazine

  • Posted By: nickgr @ 11/17/2008 2:21:33 PM

It is obvious that the Rep platform is not anti-homo.

The majority of the people do not accept the concept of same-sex marriage.

Leftist commentators systematically try to defame Rove & Reps.

    Their accusations are false.

Even the anti-abortion thing is just (reluctant ) talking.

    They don't mean it.

The Reps are donkeys, don't think of them as horses to whip.

  • Posted By: stephenprestwood @ 11/17/2008 2:21:26 PM

Apparently, Mr. Rove doesn't understand demographics and trends. Young voters, minorities, and urban dwellers, all groups that will be growing as a percentage of our electorate, are increasingly embracing the Democratic Party and its values. Prop 8, the mean-spirited discriminatory measure in California to ban same-sex marriage, won by a narrow margin and with far fewer supporters than the proposition that mimicked the so-called Defense of Marriage Act in 2000. This demonstrates a clear trend towards support of full civil rights for gay and lesbian citizens among the electorate. Of course, separation of church and state and equality and protection of minority rights are cornerstones of our democracy even if the spiteful social conservatives can't seem to grasp that. And, who exactly would listen to Karl Rove after his devisive politics nearly destroyed our democracy and brought us the worst presidency of the modern era? And, when will we truly find out whether Mr. Rove committed treason by exposing the identity of a CIA agent? Will Newsweek still give him a platform from his jail cell?

I find the concern with National Security, coming from this particular author, particularly ironic. This was the same advisor in the same administration that exposed a national security asset, Valerie Plame, because her spouse had the temerity to reject the pancake uranium story for the known international fraud that it was. I'm about as interested in hearing about national security from probable violators of 18 USC 793 and 794 as much as a Social Democrat would want to hear from the Brownshirts after the 1933 election in Germany.

  • Posted By: jowi681 @ 11/17/2008 2:05:32 PM

I find the concern with national security to be particularly ironic. It was this administration, and possibly this very writer, that exposed Valerie Plame because her husband had that temerity to challenge a known, and fake, pancake uranium story. That exposure lead to loss of many supporters overseas that were associated with Valerie. If that's not a violation of this principle (not to mention 18 USC 793 and 794, I don't know what is. National Security advocates? Not. Ambitious Egotist? Yes.

As an EX-Republican, my advice to the GOP's is to NOT cater to the Radical-Fanatic Right-Wingers. I used to listen to Limbaugh but fortunately I woke up - I do NOT listen to that hateful idiot anymore. Huge hint to GOP's-be careful how much you listen to Rove The Rat, his dirty politics and corrupt ways is what turns people away from the party.

  • Posted By: notdogmatic @ 11/17/2008 1:59:53 PM

Rove's #9 (keep social conservatism) and the one about attracting younger voters and Hispanics are mutually exclusive, especially since he wants to continue the same immigration policies. It is the same mind set that pretended that Bush was honoring fiscal conservatism while his tax cuts for the wealthy produced obscene deficits. As a democrat, I love these delusions.

  • Posted By: Coventry @ 11/17/2008 1:52:45 PM

The politics of hate and selfishness are what the GOP offers. If you are excited at the prospect of feeling good while others struggle, if you strive to be the wealthiest man in the cemetery, if you believe that only gay bashing closed minded people have merit, and if you would cloak all of your foulness in the American flag and the shroud of Turin, then by all means, the GOP needs you.
