    WHY PARDON THESE PEOPLE?
LEAVE THEM TO PAY FOR THEIR DEEDS,WE THE POOR PAY FULL PRICE FOR OURS.

We need to demand our representatives being impeachment proceedings now. That is the only way to stop Bush from being able to pardon a multitude of criminals who need to be in jail, especially Rove. We need to demand an investigation of Rove in the Don Seigelman case as that could unravel everything, and we need for him to be held in contempt of Congress.

    • Posted By: ghostmasseur @ 11/16/2008 6:18:37 PM

Actually that is not a valid reason for impeachment. In fact starting such preceeding for that reason is asinine and an abuse of power. Although I do think that Bush did engage in impeachable actions it would be a waste of time and effort to start impeachment proceedings now. There are more important things to focus on.

I agree that Bush should be impeached, we should wait and concentrate on getting the country back on track first. That might be a pardon of itself though considering how long it will take to fix all of his blunders.

Why does everyone forget our brother Leonard Peltier who is serving a sentence for killing two FBI agents that even the courtd agree he did not commit. It has been proven that the FBI lied, used falce evidence, even made up evidence to gain the conviction of an innocent man. Stand up America and demand Leonards freedom. In the Spirit of Crazy Horse. Aho

Unfortunately, because of the foolish and corrupt final pardons doled out by Bill Clinton (Marc Rich among others), we Dems don't hold the moral high ground when it comes to this issue. Too bad because Libby and Cheney should go to jail for Valerie Plame; Gonzales, Miers and others for their politicization of the Justice Department; and Karl Rove for the unjust railroading of Don Siegelman.

  • Posted By: Chris A @ 11/16/2008 5:48:45 PM

If he was really going to go out boldly with a couple of high profile pardons maybe he should do Mark David Chapman or Charles Manson. Wouldn't that solidify his legacy.

Braes offered the kind of quality comment we need...

The absolute corruption of both the democrat & republican parties has dismantled the concept of "justice" in this country. Criminals now control all facets of our lives through money and I don't know how we rein in a government that no longer listens to its citizens.

It is time that we educate ourselves on how our world really works and make moves to change the constitution in a way that empowers the working class of this country. The constitution needs some serious re-writes to re-invest the people with the power to remove elected when they no longer represent us in a beneficial way.

Georgie Boy will have to give himself a pardon!

    Stand firm President Bush!

    • Posted By: Cazador1972 @ 11/15/2008 9:02:12 PM

He already pardoned a traitor who outed a CIA agent. What else can you expect from him? Stand firm my foot!

      • Posted By: Braes @ 11/16/2008 1:54:16 PM

Remember 9% still think Bush is one of the greatest presidents ever. They generally know squat about law, civics, history, philosophy, jurisprudence, precedent, and the other trappings of freedom and a secular government.

Remarks like that show how ignorant you are. You should never deem to know someone you never met. Didn't your mother teach you any manners????

I don't believe Pres. Bush is the greatest. Where in my comments did I state that??? Btw, I'm an Obama supporter.

    • Posted By: jimbo3800 @ 11/16/2008 12:15:09 AM

Pia, I agree with you but hope that he pardons the two border patrol agents. Their lives have been destroyed simply for trying to do their jobs and protect the integrity of our southern border.

      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 11/16/2008 4:42:49 PM

Of course. I meant the criminals only!

    Kimber Lee:

You are hereby pardoned "for writing too many entries on the same subject.," since you have completed your sentence(s) and appear remorseful (see above).

    W

Forgive me for writing to entries on the same subject - I thought the first one didn't post.

  • Posted By: KIMBER LEE @ 11/16/2008 4:30:46 PM

This is precisely why we must demand that our representatives start impeachment proceedings now - so Bush cannot pardon these criminals.
We should especially demand that Rove's participation in the Don Seigelman case be investigated, and that he be held in contempt of Congress for ignoring the Congressional subpoena. He should be in jail, holding on Faux "News."

  • Posted By: techie22 @ 11/16/2008 2:41:54 PM

I think pardoning a person who committed treason by outing a CIA agent
in the time of war, one Scooter Libby, is high profile and a blatant pointing
of their middle finger at Constitution. Is it 1-20-09 yet ?

  • Posted By: nickgr @ 11/16/2008 1:39:48 PM

    Sorry,error...

I meant that juries should award pardons, neither Presidents or Governors...

    • Posted By: Braes @ 11/16/2008 2:01:36 PM

That is nullification. It would require a retrial, which Judges do not grant, as it means they made a mistake in the first place. It becomes the path to no check against the court. You can not petition to remove an offender from Punishment, as you have no standing. Courts rarely hear "first-friend' cases.
Stare Decisis or let it stand is how our system works. Courts only tend to reverse based on errors of process, not fact. Look up the process to get a writ of certaori before the Supreme Court. Innocence is one of the reasons the court will NOT accept a case for review. Those are the rules of the court.
That is why Ramos and Compeon can only hope for relief from the same executive branch that abused them.
I would wish Obama to take up the clemency as soon as he took the oath.

I guess that I still don't get this "case". Scooter Libbet was convicted of not telling the truth, in a case involving 'Who Leaked The Name Of Valerie Plame to Robert Novak", even though he KNEW who had leaked the name, BEFORE he started prosecuting the case. How did he know? Because Novak TOLD HIM, and Richard Armitage, the guy who DID IT, told him as well. If ANYONE should have been up on charges, it should have been that PUNK, Patrick Fitzgerald, for wasting everybodys' time and MONEY. And the fact that That idiot Issikoff, and Mr. Horse Balls don't see it that way just confirms their BIAS, and shows why they work at a dying rag like Newsweek. A weekly. In the age of the Internet? How stupid can you be?

    • Posted By: Braes @ 11/16/2008 1:47:52 PM

18 USC 1001. You can either claim the 5th and shut up, or tell the truth. You do not get the choice: "To Lie, Utter Falsehoods, with the intent to decieve."
All of the rest is not attributable to the specific act of uttering a falsehood under oath. It is additional window dressing that can distract, but not lawfully impact. It is irrelevant. Now a Republican prosecutor, appointed by a Republican Attorney General, to investigate a Republican, resulted in a conviction. I realize it is hard for a Republican to believe that any Republican could possibly get convicted under such circumstances, and frankly it boggles my mind, but it occured. Usually when Republicans stack the deck they get the cards they want.

      Well said and right on!

  • Posted By: Jeronimo Dan @ 11/16/2008 12:41:02 PM

Just pray that when he and Cheney are brought on war crimes, no one give either a pardon. If anyone needs a pardon, it is Campean and Ramos, but this idiot we have as a president knows he and his sidekick should be behind bars, but will sleep good at night also knowing these two men were trying to do there jobs for the American people. It is a shame he'll go thru life never really getting anything staight.

    • Posted By: Braes @ 11/16/2008 1:42:17 PM

Both were prosecuted unfairly, on a reach by an overzealous prosecutor, for a foreign government, under the sway of purjured testimony.

  • Posted By: Braes @ 11/16/2008 1:40:23 PM

The pardon power was given solely to the Executive by the framers, who described it as the "Benign Perogative." It should remain untouched, no matter the recent abuses. If there is a political objection to pardons, one should ask a candidate prior to election what their pardon policy should be. Any diminuation of the pardon power removes a check against abuses by the courts and the possible punishment of the innocent. As for Clinton's filth, and the Libby issue, those should stain the issuer, not the process.
Checks and balances can be abused, as can passions. Care to observe both.

I say give Marion Jones a pardon. She is an amazing athlete and one of the very few with the b*lls to fess up to steroid use. Marion has been a stellar American in her field and she deserves to be rewarded with the pardon.

  • Posted By: nickgr @ 11/16/2008 12:41:38 PM

The pardon issue is tricky & divisive...

May the Prez ( & Governors ) should be stripped of the right to pardon.

Maybe a jury should deliberate & deliver pardons.

    As in the doctrine : " Jury,convicts,jury pardons "...
