Antimissile Antipathy

Bush had to let the ABM treaty lapse in order to install the MDS. So yes it is an ABM system and as such affects the Nuclear Balance by starting to build a "first strike capability". Yes Russia has to react and does so with restraint by indicating it will only respond when this MDS gets installed.

The anti-missle shield is little more than a 21st century Magnot Line. There are so many ways to defeat the system that it makes little or no sense to pursue. Simply firing decoys in suffecient quanities would easily be enough to overwhelm the system. Worse still, it would give former Soviet satalite countries a false sense of protection that might lead them to do stupid provocative things like the idiots in Georgia did last summer. Just this one issue was enough to earn Obama my vote in the recent election, though there are thousands of other reasons to support him that parallel this same imbicellic stand on the part of the Neoconservatives.

Missile defense is an expensive, unreliable, and arms-race-escalating boondoggle. I don't think it makes people much, if any, safer. It encourages escalation

Withdraw from this plan now. It's a mess; it causes *unnecessary* international strife. If I'm going to lock horns with Russia, it better be over something genuine (like genuine Russian expansionism), not this science fiction fantasy defense system. As far as I remember, there's next to no guarantee at all that you'll be able to shoot down a single missile, and the system is utterly useless against multiple or MIRVed warheads.

Obama shuts it down its not because money better spent elsewhere its because he is weak and he never faced his own party. Democrats well known for spending tons of money on stupid things but making military weak by withdrawing funds. I pray obama doesnt do that because if we withdraw that missle defense system whats doing to stop russians paper attacks???? can not appease russia specially if they have dictator powers now which no nation has said anything about. Europe celebrates for obama hoping he will be like them appeaser

I agree the russians know this is only defensive but they only being stupid about it because missle defense system give the europeans a defense and it limits moscows threats. Just like any nation in eastern europe joins nato without moscow permission they get so pissed and make threats. russia deploys missles on poland border saying they remove those offensive missles from poland border if USA withdraws antimissle system?????? not to mention russia extended president term 4 to 6 years but it wont count on the current president who is putins puppet. but putin will return and baam he will be doing another 6 years but whats point he been in charge all along and Russia been installing somthing like missle shield in IRAN venzeula and many other enemy nations but thats okay they do it but when we install defensive things in europe they go all crazy and start with the threats. France president appeased russia by saying missle system useless and kissing russia butt. Europe well known for appeasement of russia for example ukraine stop allowing russia state television broadcast in their country because russia state tv been saying horrible stuff about urkraine government and telling people to uprise and stuff like that but when urkraine pull the plug because it violated its laws what did moscow do??? they made threats. Thats what russia been doing this year alot is making threats and doing stuff to other countrys covertly and then threaten them when they dont get their way. Estonia took down old stalin statue and russia gets mad and made threats???? just like if missle defense system continues russia made threats of attacking a defense system???? europe has history of appeasement but they better defend poland because most eastern european nations are not like FRance and germany that goes around appeaseing because appeaseing hitler was bad move and now they appeaseing dictator putin who has moscow youth which is same as hitler youth because moscow youth gets away with attacking anything in russia that isnt russian. Sounds like rise of nazi germany but differently and russians so brainwashed they blame all their problems on west and this xenophobia is what putin is hoping to create so he can have excuse to attack another country and moscow has all state newspapers and reporters now that all the independant ones are dead because is kinda funny that they all been killed somthing putin well known of doing very well of.
