Is Obama the Antichrist?

The winning lottery number in Illinois was 666, which, as everyone knows, is the sign of the Beast.

I have been a Christian most of my life ,and through reading God's word (the Bible ) and from hearing sermons taught on this very topic I would urge those who have posted comments here to open your Bibles and read the facts for yourself.
The Bible is not open to interpretation but is meant to be God's literal words. In the book of Revelations which talks about the end times ,the return of Christ, and the rise of the Antichrist, the scriptures clearly state the Antichrist will be a man who will rise from a European Nation. This is evident today in the vast increase in the Euro .
The Bible states that many nations will be under one currency in the European union. This has happened already.
By the way the Bible was written centuries ago , before the Euro was brought into currency.
When the Antichrist is in power (for a short time) the world will be under one currency ,one religion, and one leader.
Signs today point us in that direction as we struggle with a poor economy, poor leadership amongst nations, and a strong increase amongst religions particularily the Muslim religion which opposes Christianity to the point of stating that Muslim are to kill those who do not follow thier faith..It's in the Koran.
The Bible is clear that there is only one God and that is God the Father in Heaven. There is only one son Christ Jesus who God sent to this earth to die on the cross for the sins of the world.
The Bible makes it clear that no one will enter God's kingdom of Heaven without repentence of their sin and acceptance of Jesus into thier hearts to be thier personal savior and enter into a relationship with Him.
The gift of salvation from Jesus is free if we are willing to accept it.But the consequences are an eternity without Him.
Do you know Jesus ? The signs of the end times are all around us , and now is the time to trust In Jesus.

First of all, how can you call the Bible "fact"?

First of all, The Bible is written by man. Not God. Therefore, it can't possibly be perfectly accurate. Everyone has ways of interpreting what they are 'told'.

Second, it was written and put together hundreds of years AFTER the death of Jesus. History passed by word of mouth has a way of 'embelishing' itself, or at least somehow becoming fabriacted, or different than the original.

Third, The Bible you read today has been translated (and therefore INTERPRETED) into many different languages from the one it was originally written in. (And you remember what we said about interpretation from above...)

Fourth, and my last point - the Bible is not the only thing in the world that has 'forseen' or 'predicted' future happenings. Other people and documents throughout history have done the same thing. So why should be Bible be taken as truth, and not these other theorists?

      Let's be logical.

    "TRIBULATION INDEX" becomes "RAPTURE INDEX"

For 18 centuries all organized churches and all official Christian theology embraced the "Tribulation Index" (that is, the essence of it without using the label). In recent years a Nebraska "rustler" has been changing it into the "Rapture Index." For more info Google "The Rapture Index (Mad Theology)" and "Open Letter to Todd Strandberg." For some background on "rapture rustling" read "Pretrib Rapture Dishonesty" on the "Powered by Christ Ministries" site. But, pardner, you'd better take some tranquilizers before you lasso any of the above items!

Nero written in Aramaic can be valued at 666, using the Hebrew numerology of gematria. It was used as a way of speaking against the emperor without the authorities knowing.

    Why are people so uneducated?
The number 666 refers to a 'code name' the Jews made to talk about Julius Caesar.
    Not Satan.
    That is a common misconception.
Look into your historical facts, please.

  • Posted By: demer77 @ 05/18/2009 5:47:57 PM

The number 666 is a representation of the mark of the beast which will play a significant part in the end times.
The number 6 is one shy of 7 which is the number of perfection .God created the Heavens and the earth in 6 days and on the 7th day he saw that His creation was good and He rested. This is also known today as the Sabath day,and is to be a day of worship ,as well as rest.Sadly the demands of the world (rat race) have people so caught up in the things of the world that few choose to acknowledge the significance of following God's laws and commandments.

The antichrist is less than God and has been given the number 6 .Satan tries to mimic God but always falls short.
God is the Father , Christ is His son , and the Holy Spirit (of God) make up the trinity.
Satans atempt to mimic God is represented in The fallen angel michael, satan, and the coming antichrist who has yet to be revealed. The 3 are all short of God and together make 666...There are other interpretations to the number of the beast all of which point to less than God.
The number of the beast plays a pivitol point in the end times as once the antichrist rises to power he will command the world to worship him and take his mark on thier forehead or hand.Without the mark no one will be able to buy, sell, trade,or exist without it.
We are seeing signs today in preperation for this as chips have been planted in animals for years to track thier whereabouts. There have been notions to plant chips into humans to do the same as well as for identity purposes which is suppose to be a good thing .We are heading towards a cashless society which is evidant by debit cards, credit cards, etc..the next step is chips in humans and then the mark itself.
It is more important now than ever to read God's word and to enter into a personal relationship with His son Jesus to avoid the coming events that will take place when the antichrist comes into power.
Life is about choices every day..the biggest decision you will ever make in your life revolves around where will you spend eternity? With Jesus ? or without Him? The choice is yours...God loves you and desires to have a personal relationship with you and to show you the plan he has for your life to bless you and prosper you and to help you along lifes journey..its a free gift if you will accept it .

But taking the mark of 666 is accepting satan as your leader and is a rejection of God .Those who accept the mark will NOT enter the kingdom of heaven, this is clear in God's word, the Bible.

Dec. 2012. The Antichrist, The Second Coming, all Religion--- a big bunch of Bull S**T

  • Posted By: nyhyphenamerican @ 04/03/2009 11:12:09 AM

NO WHERE , NO WHERE in the Christian Bible is there a description of the ant-christ as stated here. NO WHERE!!!

The Muslim religion did not come into being until 700 a.d. That means it could not have been part of teh writings of the Bible..research people!!!

666.....that is what the full name of Nero equals. Back then numerology was really really big...Nero was crazy and considered evil and feared. His "666" was associated with "evil"...and people picked it up....reserach people!!!

Believe the Bible, Koran or any other writings that soothe your being. But ask quesitons folks.
r the Koran, or what ever,...but research, who, what, when, where. Don't be sheep. Being sheep is why we are a nation of whiners.

There is no description of the "anti-christ" as you people write.

I don't like Obama and what he and Washington are up to. However, we got ourselves here, and we are the only ones that can get ourselves out.

Dec 2012 might be an interesting time... I personally will look to it as a time of change for the better...

REMEMBER, DON'T BE SHEEP., and quit whining.

Well, the Mayan calendar culminates at a finite point in time which corresponds to December 21, 2012 in the (our) Gregorian calendar - regardless of who is President or religious, this is going to be an interesting day...nobody knows its significance, but it will likely be a turning point of some kind, for better or for worse.

      2012 also an election year.

  • Posted By: Boxcar @ 03/09/2009 10:27:06 AM

Wow, if anything's a sign that Obama's the Antichrist, it's definitely the winning lotto numbers. I have to say, as a confessional Christian (Lutheran), I'm embarrassed for my kind. All of this is ridiculous. I cringe to think how many people who are associated with me by a declaration of faith believe this nonsense. Obama is a good man, and was easily our better choice in the election. I hope and pray that he can get us out of this mess that we are in.

And to those who have posted their agreement with this crazy idea, if you are Lutheran in your belief (Wisconsin Synod, Missouri Synod, etc...), you deserve to know your church's official teaching on the matter of the Antichrist, and that is that the Antichrist is the office of the papacy. Not the Pope himself, but his office, his officially held position. Read your Bibles. It is the most fitting to the descriptions. Ask your pastor.

And to those who call Christians "stupid" and "self-righteous," I'm sorry you view us that way. Unfortunately, a lot of "my people" (and I find myself using that phrase with disgust far too often) behave in a way that would make one believe we are all like that. I assure you, we are not. I am not here to force my beliefs on you. If we are out having a beer, I may ask you what you believe, and why you believe it, and have a discussion about it with you, in the hopes that the Holy Spirit may work through me to open your heart, but if we don't, I'll still enjoy the beer and the company (unless you suck). I don't think I'm better than you. I just think you have been misled.

You sound like a reasonable christian who "walks the walk" rather than just talking.

      • Posted By: Clorisa @ 03/10/2009 5:22:34 PM

You are bashing the Catholics. You need to go back to your Pastor and discuss this with him first. Where do you think you got everything from? Lutheran heritage is Catholic, you need to research.
Obama is not the AntiChrist, he is a human being doing a job he was voted for. He isn't evil nor is he the messiah, he is a man doing a hard job. I didn't vote for him but I don't want him to fail either. Crazies, so many people need help.

        • Posted By: Boxcar @ 03/12/2009 10:15:13 AM

          @chris s.: Thanks, I'd like to think I am.

          @Clorisa:
Nobody is "bashing Catholics." I am simply making known what the official doctrine of my church body, and a number of other church bodies, states. And yes, I understand the heritage of Lutheranism. Yes it started in the Catholic church. But the entire reason Lutheranism exists is found in its name. Luther believed that the Catholic church was wrong, so he translated the Book for himself. So, if you'd like to yell at someone for "bashing Catholics," go find Luther's grave and discuss it with him.

I don't claim that my church is the only way to heaven. But I do believe that a person who believes the entire teaching of the Catholic church is putting the Papacy in the place of "idol." Nobody is to have the same level of belief or trust as God. By believing that the official words of the Pope, when he is performing the duties of his office, are the words of God, a Catholic is committing idolatry. It's as simple as that.

I could go on, but rather than make a giant post out of one that is already too long, I'll simply point you to *my* church's official doctrine on the matter of the Antichrist. Read if you like.

And remember, it's the office of the Papacy, not the Pope himself. I'm sure Emperor Palpatine is a great guy. (See, cause he looks like the bad guy from Star Wars. LOL :P)

Approximately 10.000 years ago there was a great flood that caused a mass extinction of both humans and animals.
There has been written historical evidence of Jesus Christ as a living person, who was then crucified and put into a tomb with a rock placed over the front that weighed nearly two tons, (impossible for one or even two to move). The tomb was later opened up and his body was gone. Did he just magically disappear?
Why is it that scientists who swear by the big bang theory can't figure out where what ever that piece of matter that exploded and created our galaxy came from? It's just too coincidental for atoms and molecules to just randomly come together to create such complex beings as human beings and our planet.
There is not a whole lot of proof out there, but there is some. It all comes down to free will as well. I can't force these ideas down your throat. I can get you to think about them but the choice is yours. The whole concept of free will is one thing that definitely intrigued me into becoming a Christian.
The way I look at it too is; I live my whole life for God and enjoy a relatively good life and I die, and say I was wrong...........what did I have to lose? Now say I live the same lifestyle I die and I'm right..................The choice is yours my friend

I wish I had a dime everytime someone misquoted the Bible when articles like this come out. Perhaps you should read something before you try and quote it. (this includes the authors) Before you try and quote something, perhaps you should try and educate yourself about it first. Google doesn't count as research or education. The truth is folks that you can't give someone Christianity. They have to want it. Why waste your time and energy. Save your time and energy for those that are really searching. Not for those that simply want to argue. When they're tired of trying it their way and find themselves on the floor then perhaps they'll try it God's Way. Until them "don't throw pearls to the swine." "They'll only trample on them and you." Translation: Don't try and force something on someone they don't want.

    • Posted By: Dnpate @ 03/11/2009 8:43:28 PM

nor can or should Christianity be forced upon anyone. God does the seeking for men not men for God. and for the record 666 refers to a man claiming to be God......6 is the number of man three the number of God (3 sixes) Obama is not the Antichrist.

  • Posted By: JohnJ.Collier @ 03/11/2009 8:05:29 AM

I really hate to see adults behaving like 3rd graders, but that's what this all sounds like...it all reminds me a little bit of my son and his friends a few years ago when he was younger arguing about which Pokemon had the most powers. Obama is the antichrist, FDR was the antichrist, Reagan was the antichrist, Clinton was the antichrist...."Seek and ye shall find", the bible says. So all you end-times believers are busy keeping an eye out for Doomsday, ready to be taken up "in the twinkling of an eye", manufacturing superstitious connections between things that are wholly unrelated and secretly harboring a sense of vindication that when Jesus comes back, pissed-off and riding his white pony across the sky, you'll have an Access All Areas pass to his VIP Lounge while the rest of us have to stand in line to get into Hell. Sounds disrespectful of me, doesn't it? Sounds like I'm belittling the biblical myth. Well, it is and I am. As the son of a Southern Baptist preacher who grew up believing in hellfire and damnation, Revelations and rapture, I can tell you with confidence that the whole thing is indeed a myth, not at all unlike religious myths that have existed throughout the ages in other cultures, and that to persist in believing in this nonsense and, God forbid (no pun intended!), to continue passing it on to younger generations as 'the truth' constitutes nothing more than negligence and brainwashing. Judaism, Christianity, Islam...they're all rooted in the same regional religious tradition that emerged from the Middle East over the last 6,000 or so years, and they're all three completely useless and irrelevant today. While many of their teachings and scriptures contain seeds of wisdom whose sentiments should be applauded, as systems for creating a social fabric of harmony and equality, they've all failed miserably and continue to do so today.
Looking to the skies for the answers to our problems is no different than beating on a log howling at the moon as our ancestors did hundreds of thousands of years ago. In the 21st century, it's time for us to start owning up to the fact that by wonderful chance we're here now, that no 'super-hero' is going to come to our rescue, and that instead of "putting it all in God's hands" (in other words, shirking our responsibility for virtually everything), we would do well to accept the fact that we're on our own and that if anything's going to get taken care of here, we're going to have to do it ourselves. We don't need death-cults like the 'Big 3' religions to guide our lives. We need good ole' human common sense...the same common sense you might apply when buying a used car from a guy in a poor-fitting polyester suit. In other words, if someone tries to sell you on the notion that if you do what they want now, you will live forever in a sort of white and gold-trimmed vacation resort, take a look at the fine print and you'll begin to find the inconsistencies!

having been as close as you have to the underbelly of the church I can certainly understand your sentiments, but maybe neither one of us has seen real Christianity!

      • Posted By: JohnJ.Collier @ 03/11/2009 11:36:15 AM

Have to disagree with you on that. We've seen 'real Christianity' for the past 2,000 years, and it's a mess! For every 1 good step it takes forward, it consistently takes 2 bad steps back. What I definitely have seen in my short time here is good people who genuinely care about others...some have been acclaimed Christians, others were Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and still others have been agnostics and atheists. The point is, if we take the abstract concept of 'God' out of the picture, then every good (and bad) thought that has ever occurred to anyone has come from our inherent human nature, which clearly encompasses both altruism and cruelty. We don't need fairytales or promises of rewards later to decide to be good people. The choice is ours...like the bible says, "Ye shall be as gods".

        • Posted By: Dnpate @ 03/11/2009 11:41:28 AM

What you and I have actually seen with our own eyes is a religous expression almost completely engineered by man not at all what Jesus intended!!

          • Posted By: JohnJ.Collier @ 03/11/2009 11:56:56 AM

I'll try to be brief on this: You and I can't know what Jesus intended. And we certainly have no credible evidence to suggest that he rose from the dead. What we do have is four 'accepted' versions of his life and death (the four Gospels), all of which are mutually contradictory, various other accounts (Gnostic gospels, etc.) that were rejected by the Church when it compiled the bible as we know it today, and 2,000 years of hearsay, suppression of dissent and conversion by the sword. For me, all I need to know about Jesus to admire his sentiments is "Love thy neighbor as thy self". He doesn't need to have risen from the grave if he said that, because that message is truly wise, truly universal and truly eternal. So what you're confusing for 'real Christianity' is simply the very human choice, regardless of what religious stripe it's painted with or whether it's religious at all, to simply yearn for and focus one's life on what is good and positive. For that, I don't need the 'my god's better than your god' or the 'do what I say or you're going to hell for all eternity' baggage. And neither do you! I wish you all the very best...

If you have not witnessed any persecution of Christians then what do you think this article is about? In the majority of the countries in the Mid-East one can be persecuted or have some form of fatal punishment for converting to Christianity. You see it on TV day in and day out. In movies, Christians are thought of as stupid, fanatical, "fundamentalist", and closed minded. Why are Christians targeted more than any other form or "religion"? I don't know doesn't make sense to me. It's almost like people are afraid to hear the truth. I would think something like Mormonism, or even Scientology LOL, would be the object of ridicule rather than Christianity which has far more scientific and historical proof than these other religions.

Some fundamentalist Christians say President Obama is a FreeMason which fuels their belief that he is the anti-Christ. Obama is not a FreeMason but I find it hilarious that in an attempt to demonize him they say he's a FreeMason and the rapture is near.

FreeMasons believe in the separation of Church and State in their lodge meetings and this irritates the Christian crazies. Around each presidential election many fundamentalist Christians try to determine if the presidential candidate is connected with the Masonic Lodge, then they post their paranoia religious propaganda on websites.
