    It's a pity that the author provided so much print to what amounts to a delusional portion of the population. Of course, had AntiChrist Obama not prevailed, we would have had Sarah Palin one tragedy away from the Oval Office. I suspect that if one third of Christains believe that they are in the end times, that Governor Palin, whose religious views were deemed too private to become a subject of national inquiry, is among them. If so, how wouild that expectation have influenced her decisions in terms of world events?

    Wow. What kind of insanity will Newsweek discuss next? The CIA is implanting mind-control devices in children? Or how about a UFO cover-up by the Vatican? Maybe 30 foot tall half human half wolf terrorizes Wyoming? This is straight tabloid garbage. I have been reading Newsweek for sometime now, and have never seen them publish something so ridiculous. And by the way, these nut cases helped elect a man who started a needless war killing thousands of innocent civilians in Iraq, built a torture facility where people are held without ever being charged with a crime, set up secret rendition programs to kidnap and torture people without the burden of the rule of law, and has worked steadily to disable the Constitution. Yeah, the guy talking about college scholarships, infrastructure improvements, and renewable energy is the anti-christ... How could I have missed that?!

    Does anyone think that the US would ever make war with Isreal? Of course not. According to the Bible, the antichrist's armies will make war with Isreal. The US would never make war with Isreal, therefore the antichrist can't be the US president. It defies logic.

    I completely agree with Mr. Strandberg, and I admire him for being so bold as to say so! I think Obama's election is a sign that our country's morals and values have gone to hell in a handbasket, literally. I don't think Obama is the Anti-Christ, but I do think that now we are on a fast-track to destruction. God has been taken out of everything, there are "gay-rights" demonstrations going on all over the nation, etc, etc, etc...No where in end-times prophecy, is the USA mentioned. Ponder that one for a moment...

      It means enough enlightened people who DO have morals and values overrode the ignorant masses who dote on "reality TV", "comedy" sitcoms full of sexual content, "drama" featuring serial killers, weird death scenes and grue, and of course, all those abysmally stupid cartoons.

      Electing Barack Obama isn't going to decrease the amount of drivel offered to us via TV, movies, GameBoys, iPODS, or X-Boxes, but hopefully it will encourage Obama as well as our teachers, our friends in the service industries, and our local leaders to do a better job shepherding the rest of us through the wasteland left by the current US administration.

      On the other hand, I believe that God is in this election. I trusted in God to send one of his messengers as an indication that God is not forgotten. Many before Barack has been called the Anti-Christ(Ronald6 Wilson6 Reagean6). I say to all love God, self, and others because no one can stand alone during thes troubled times. This election has incresed my awareness of God and his love!!!!!!!!!!

" Obey the government for GOD is the one who put it there. All governments have been placed in power by GOD. You can read the rest for yourselfs. Weather you voted for obama or not. The american people put him in office because GOD willed it. through out the Bible and our times, GOD has willed many governments to come to power, good and bad. In the end all of it will bring him the glory, not man. Don't ask me how Hitler brought God glory. That is above my pay grade. Ijust know what Romans 13 says. And I will trust in his word always. Even when Idon't fully understand it. That is called faith. The opposite of faith is fear. Do not fear Mr Obama. only fear God and keep his word. Ed

    Jesus love you guys and women. Please know that , as born-again believer, I don't want Obama hurt in anyway, nor do I think he's the antichrist. I don't agree with all his policies or his stance on certain issues, but I do believe that God is in control and Obama's in office because of that. We believers in Jesus will one day be raptured and I wonder what the official explanation will be for you that are left. Know that those websites the artice mentions will be most helpful. Don't take the mark and turn to Christ. We love you and pray for you all to seek God through Jesus. His teachings and His claims are truth.

    For God's sake, all the speculation about "the Antichrist's" "sweet talking and campaigning to be a world leader EASILY could have described John McCain (with his constant references to "you, my friend") and Sarah Palin -- who wasn't obviously the "sweet talker" in the campaign, but she made much of her buddy-buddy relationship with her God, something the Anti-Christ would do to cozen potential followers.

    People will believe what they want to believe. Even if their prospective leaders are totally inadequate and unsuited to lead, that would make no difference to someone who's invested what they believe is their spiritual future in these persons.

    Why have you even entertained this notion about Obama? Why haven't you and Todd Strandberg and Victoria Jackson assigned the probability of "who's the Antichrist" to George W. Bush, or his crony and second-in-command, Dick Cheney?

    THEY'RE responsible for the mess the USA is in, and THEY'RE responsible for the USA's diminished world-leadership role and respect from other countries. THEY'RE leaving a wreck for Barack Obama to try to reconstruct, and you and these other idiots have the temerity to blow smoke about Obama being the Anti-Christ?

    You should be ashamed. But you probably aren't.

If he deams this year while obamas president to battel the anti-christ or simply end the world he will! He'll end the world when ever he deams fit! Please befor you post anything about the bible read it cover to cover and understand it and a word of advise read multiple version you'll get a better understanding of the true meanings!     November 11, 2008 was the day that 666 came up in the Illinois Lottery. If you want to believe that this is a divine warning then why would a perfect God be so late with it? Obama was ALREADY ELECTED by then so the only logical conclusion is that the warning pertains to someone else. So, let's see....what significant event happened on or just before 11/11/08? Well, a quick Google search shows that this lottery pick came right after Sarah Palin spoke at the repuplican governors conference where she said that she isn't ruling out a run for the presidency in 2012. Seems to me that any rapture ready death cultist worth his/her (pillar of) salt should be casting a suspicious eye in that direction as well. Either that or they have to admit that their god has really bad timing.

      Wrong. 666 was the winning pick 3 lotto number in Illinois on November 5th, which was the day Obama was "officially" declared the winner. Others in th emedia declared him the winner on elction night, but he did not officially win until the 5th. If yo question that, go on line to the Illinois lott site and see for yourself. I am not saying this makes him the AntiChrist. However, what I find even more odd is that the lotto pick 3 number in Iowa on 11/5 was also 666. Iowa is the state where the first caucus was held and where he came from nowhere to beat Hillary. The odds of that happening on the same day in just those two states are like 1:2.2M. To happen on that exact date are just under 1:1B. Iowa is where he started it all, and illinois is where he was declared the winner. Just very odd.

    But there is no such thing in the Bible as THE anti-christ. The few times the term is used, it refers to anyone who denies that Jesus is the son of God.

    I am shocked that Newsweek would publish such garbage. Especially since it is a fact that Obama has had more death threats than any other president to date.
    The author of this article could have at least offered a rebuttal to the conspiracy theorists.

    Question: "Who is the antichrist?"

    Answer: There is much speculation about the identity of the antichrist. Some of the more popular targets are Vladimir Putin, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and Pope Benedict XVI. In the United States, former President Bill Clinton, current President George Bush, and president-elect Barack Obama are the most frequent candidates. So, who is the antichrist, and how will we recognize him?

    The Bible really does not say anything specific about where the antichrist will come from. Many Bible scholars speculate that he will come from a confederacy of ten nations and/or a reborn Roman empire (Daniel 7:24-25; Revelation 17:7). Others see him as being a Jew since he would have to be in order to claim to be the Messiah. It is all just speculation since the Bible does not specifically say where the antichrist will come from or what race he will be. One day, the antichrist will be revealed. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 tells us how we will recognize the antichrist: "Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God."

    It is likely that most people who are alive when the antichrist is revealed will be very surprised at his identity. The antichrist may or may not be alive today. Martin Luther was convinced that the pope in his time was the antichrist. Others who have lived in the past few hundred years have been equally sure as to the identity of the antichrist. So far, they have all been incorrect. We should put the speculations behind us and focus on what the Bible actually says about the antichrist. Revelation 13:5-8 declares, "The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise his authority for forty-two months. He opened his mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. He was given power to make war against the saints and to conquer them. And he was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast--all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world."

      Why are so many people surprised that newsweek would publish a sensational article? isn't that normal? the only surprising thing is that it's about a liberal. normally they target conservatives. Remember the totally unsubstantiated article that they published a few years ago claiming that US soldiers flushed the Koran down the toilet? that sparked riots in which many innocent Americans were killed. and within days Newsweek admitted that they didn't have any trustworthy sources just an already discredited story teller.

      Please don't be surprised when NewsWeek gets sensational--That's who they are!!!

Bush has done more damage to the US, and to the world than any other President that I know. Yet, I bet no one has said that he was the anti-christ. Look at the state of the world today and then tell me who the real devil really is.

    The article missed what I believe is the biggest reason that people call Obama the Antichrist. I believe it's based on the "left behind" movie series. Now, I don't believe that he's the Antichrist and I've found the "Left Behind" series to be extremely inaccurate to true biblical eschatology, but tens of thousands of people's beliefs have been formed by these books and movies apart from the Bible. Here's the point. I watched "Left Behind II" a number of years before ever hearing about Obama. When Obama came on the scene I was shocked at how closely Obama matched their fictional "Antichrist", Nicolai Carpathia! All you have to do is change his race, accent and country of origin and he's a shockingly similar fit. Of course, I don't put much stock in that because I've found that series to be totally unbiblical but for those who haven't studied end-time events strait from the Bible (rather than fancy preachers, novels, movies and websites) and have relied on the hype filled unbiblical secret rapturist's theories, the connection is unavoidable. It's a reminder to get back to the Bible instead of hype filled sources!

      How could anybody be so small minded that they would not believe there is a supreme being that created the world and is very much in charge of it. Look rather,for incremental assaults much as was performed in the Clinton years [hopefully without the reckless government violence meted out to the other end-timers,the Branch Davidians,whose full story is still untold as not a single page of government documents has ever been released]. IRS hassles,and the strangely stupid expedient of slapping RICO charges on anti-abortion protesters [later overturned by a unanimous USSC]. Low-level stuff. [again,hopefully].
