    It amazes me how gullable people can be. They said Ronald Reagan was the anti-christ, then they said Bill Clinton was the anti-christ.. now Obama. Anything to bring in those dollars into the collection baskets on sunday. You know, Jesus Christ was a socialist, and many of the same people that are saying Obama is a socialist are also saying he is the Anti-Christ..., doesn't sound very Anti-Christ to me!

    What about the end times? What does the Bible say? Eighty percent of Bible prophecy has already occurred and the Bible has been 100% accurate. End Times? Jesus said no man knows the day or hour but he said that there would be signs of his second coming and he went on to say that the generation alive at that time would see all things fulfilled. Signs:
    ??? Re-birth of Israel as a nation after it???s destruction in 70 A.D. (1948)
    ??? Jewish persecution throughout history until the end
    ??? Increase in earthquakes and their intensity (# earthquakes have doubled every decade since 1900 and the intensity has increased as well)
    ??? Increase in famines, floods and weather events describing them as a birth pangs getting worse and more intense as the end nears. Climate change- ever here of it?
    ??? Political and social unrest worldwide.
    ??? Mothers killing their children (abortion Roe Vs. Wade 1973)
    ??? Men hardening their hearts against God and a rise in unbelief.
    ??? Christian persecution worldwide.
    ??? Wars and rumors of wars all over the globe.
    ??? Rise of false religions and false messiahs.
    ??? Massive redistribution of wealth by governments to provide for the poor.
    ??? Men???s hearts failing them for fear of what???s to come culminating in WWIII.
    Any of this sound familiar to anyone?

      Famines, floods, and weather effects have high and low times through history, and have been higher in the past than now, even after Jesus.

      Political and social unrest has been around since the beginnings of politics and society. Nothing new.

      Mothers have terminated their pregnancies since the beginning of time. In fact, mothers are mandated by the Bible to kill their children if they don't respect their parents.

      I've not seen any real prosecution of Christians. Many of them perceive prosecution when there isn't any. e.g. war on Christmas.

      War has been around throughout time, since society and politics started. There aren't any more now than there has been through history.

      Unless the whole world is one religion, which has never ever been the case, "false" religions rise and fall all the time. Nothing new there, and there were most likely more religions before than there are now when people weren't as connected.

      Jesus actually is a proponent of redistributing wealth. Mark 10:17-25
      "17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? 18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

      19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. 20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. 21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

      22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

      There was much much more to fear in the past than now. Ever been scared of a lion coming to get you?

        You are misapplying scripture Jesus said it was easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle then a rich man to go to heaven. It is because they covet and love money above all including God. He also told the rich man to go and sell everything he had and give it to the poor because Jesus knew his heart abd he loved money above all else. God said that we are to be generous and give from our abundance not have it taken by the government against our will and dispersed the way they want. Giving needs to be from the heart not the government redistribution policies.

        You are right these thingshave gone on for a long time. The difference is that Christ said they would worsen and intensify as the end approached. It is also clear Israel had to be restored as a nation before the end would come. If you had a clear understanding of the Bible there are plenty of other signs too such as Daniel seeing that knowledge would increase dramatically as the end approached and people would be traveling to and fro throughout the world. I am a history major and have studied the Bible in conjunction with other recorded histroy and it is very accuarate. Those who do not believe in God likely will not be swayed toward the end as men's hearts will harden against God and Christians

    all this "save the earth" nonsense is just that, nonsense. We have effected the earth, but I have to agree with the late great goerge carlin here, the earth is good at adapting to changes, better than her inhabitants. That's the main thing here, adaptability. The end of times is coming? I think so, but it wont be THE end, just AN end, maybe many people and other animals will die, but not all. It looks like the end will be brought about by us, but I doubt it. Really it's just us trying to control our environment....trying to maintain order in a reality that is entropic by nature....which brings me to religion; it is basically our attempts to make sense of an indifferent and chaotic existence. Philosophy, and psychology are different approaches to the same end. No approach is more valid than any other. It is the ARGUMENT, the DEBATE that is most important, it is the fertile soil of all of humanity from which comes new ideas, new perspectives, which will bring about new debates, the end result may forever be above and beyond us.

    Genius news agencies like yours are victimizing countries like Palestine, who has been known to house terrorists that have inflicted numerous deaths and casualties throughout the years in Israel, and have made Israel out as a "militant" nation.
    What about all of this global warming nonsense? You have got to be kidding me........Sara Palin actually was the only politician that was right on. Human beings have not contributed nor caused global warming. Changes in the temperature of the planet is a natural occurrence that has been going on since the beginning of time.
    I am really getting tired of being fed all of this jargon. So I'm going to go get inside of my gas guzzling Chevy Tahoe and destroy the ozone layer......LOL Another load of junk...............Common Al Gore..........what do you think happens when Ozone (o3) is destroyed? It is immediately replaced by more o3. As long as we have UV light and o2 we are good to go, and can drive as many "evil" gas guzzlers as we want.

    Those irrational and brainwash people are really wishing for the end of the world, aren't they ?? they are the ones who are enslaved by their religion ! I live in a secular country and believe me, we are not doing that bad and have not for a long time. Secularism is key to peace in the world.

      I agree completely, it seems like the prevailing culture in America is one of rampant fear and greed. Why not make things better for all Americans, why not increase quality of life? I lived in Europe for 2 years and I saw homelessness, and people on welfare, but I saw clean streets and hard working people who can go to the hospital whenever they need it without worrying about being rejected

          Oh, and one more thing, I may be wrong here, but I don't think St. Paul's in Bristol is what anybody would consider a touristy location. I wont say anything bad about the neighborhood I lived in, it was diverse and colorful. Ask around see what you find out about Grosvenor Rd. in St. Paul's Bristol UK

          I get your point, I probably should have said that I lived in England where the ghettos are rather different from the south Bronx environment that I grew up in. I did not come away from my 2 years with a rosy outlook, but I did see a higher standard of living in general. I guess what I was trying to say is that Americans, regardless of racial or class background should not be afraid of systemic change, I believe that a rising tide will lift us all.

    Let me go out on a limb here by saying: most, if not all, prophecies are self fulfilling. 12/21/2012 will be interesting in the sense that by then this prophecy will have saturated the internet and be featured in movies and on television, and the combined of people from wide ranging backgrounds will be very interesting to observe indeed

The fundamental question is not who the antichrist is, but who is the Christ. When we see him, we will be like him, and we will see him just as he is!

Could this system be used to require an identifying number to make purchases that are unique to a person One example might be International code followed by country code, then area code and a nine digit number like a social security number. Three sets of six that would identify an exact person and the area code in which they live. A U.S. citizen could quickly be identified by their country code (110) anywhere in the world.       i know that bush was popular and well liked in the beginning but i really do not know, and have not researched, his early years and the worldwide reaction to him, was he referred to as a messiah, savior or "christ" did he have a large christ- like following? if so then that argument could be made .

      but what about the "mark of the beast" which is required in order to buy or sell as i understand it it is an actual mark placed on your hand or forehead. although i know that parts of the bible are symbolic ( the book of revelation is extremely symbolic) so "the mark of the beast" described in the book of revelation could very well be symbolic and not literal . im open to that idea

    If this is the truth, then christians should be thrilled! Finally, they will be raptured to heaven. Isn't that what they have been waiting for? Personally, I think that the description of Antichrist befits Rush Limbaugh. Strandberg should put a meter on him. How many thought [like my mother-in-law] that the rapture was going to happen when the clock ticked to the year 2000? Boy was she bummed when the sun came up the next day. Don't worry, she recalculated and just knew it would be the next year.

    Did you know that the night before,[ jan31st] airlines only put one christian and one nonchristian piloting airplanes? That was when the rapture happened, the plane didn't crash, when the christian pilot was raptured. That is according to my bible studying and teaching in-laws. Now, doesn't that make a lot of sense? There you have the mentality we are dealing with. I could go on..........

    The sign of the beast is actually 616. The numbers have long been debated. A search for "The Wait Wait Show Introduction Debacle!" will get you to some excellent audio discussing the numbers.
