If you really believe this stuff, shouldn't you be excited about the antichrist manifesting himself? What's up with this "expressing concern and fear that is widely shared"? Sounds like a bunch of ignorant, quivering cowards looking for something to whine about. Anything to oppose love and logic!

I'm a Christian and I have to agree...too many folks with too little to do...

Go feed the hungry, adopt a child, save a family from abuse - but please stop obsessing on liberal destroying the world.

Oh come on - God is alive and well in America and you know it. Just because there's a gay rights parade doesn't mean God is forgotten. Honestly. Get a grip.

god is not forgotten by everyone. however most of the world runs after their selfish, sinful desires. they do whatever pleases them and dont even think of any kind of moral factor. and this is coming from a 22 yr. old.

Good for you, Drobins! My son is also 22 years old and loves God just like you. I believe we are in the End Times. I'm asking God to give me every opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus and His salvation while there is still time. God bless you!

You must cite a credible source concerning your claim that Barack Obama said "a light will shine upon you and you will have an ephiphany and you will say that I have to vote for Barack Obama." You will not be able to find a credible source because he never said that. True Christians do not spread untruthful or unsubstantiated stories - Jesus wouldn't. I have read the Bible.

If you research anything this is an easy one. He said it in his speech at Dartmouth College, in Lebanon, NH on Jan 7, 2008. I am sure you can listen to the speech in its entirety, all the major news channels carried it including, CNN, MSNBC, GlennBeck and World Net Daily. For those who feel that Christians should not concern themselves with Christs second coming, we are concerned only for the salvation of those who will and are deceived by the evil of the world. I pray that God will touch all of you before his second coming.

        2 Thess. 2:1-11:
Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to Him, that you may not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.

Let no on in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness (anti-Christ) is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God (this will be in the rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem during the middle of the Tribulation), displaying himself to be God.

Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things?

And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he may be revealed.

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. (Many Bible scholars believe this to be the Holy Spirit in the Body of Christ, the Church, and when He is taken out of the way, so will the Church - in the Rapture.)

And then the lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming, (This is the Second Coming, with His saints.)

Please read the whole chapter. It talks about those who will perish because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. And for this reason, God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they might believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness. (v. 11).

We, who are Christians, are sinners saved by grace. We do not judge anyone, but rather plead with you to receive Jesus as your Savior while there is still time. If you have a hard time believing, just ask God to give you the faith to believe. He will if you ask Him sincerely. We are simly beggars telling other beggars where to get the bread -- in this case, the Bread of Life, Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son.

As someone said here, this life is short, but eternity is forever.

You may mock at these words. I know they sound like foolishness to you who do not believe. God even said that they would. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is foolishness to those who don't believe. But to us Christians, it is the sweetest, most wonderful music to our ears, and will be to yours, too.

You and I were created by God and were made to live with Him and for Him forever, delighting in His presence. Where you will be when you are left all alone in eternity without Him.

"My job this morning is to be so persuasive...that a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany, and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Barack," he told a crowd of about 300 Ivy Leaguers--and, by the looks of it, a handful of locals who managed to gain access to what was supposed to be a students-only event."

So sorry, you're wrong, "visionary", you may want to go back and study history. It's a fact, starting with the absurdly ridiculous Catholic inquisition, Crusades, and the Spanish Conquest of the Americas in the name of god. Millions, not thousands, were slaughtered in the name of the Christian god. Oh yes, and all the millions of Native Americans were also slaughtered by "good christians". Know of which you speak....

    • Posted By: visionary @ 11/17/2008 12:09:41 AM

Is that the same Crusades that tried to stop the Muslims from terrorizing and murdering all the Christians.? And what about the 50 million children killed in the womb through abortion in this courtry and ten of billions throughout the world? . Do you think that slaughtering the "image and likeness of God" in those children was done in the name of God? Again more revisionist history...

    Is Obama the Antichrist?
(Formerly: Is the Beast ascending to power on the world stage today?)
In these days many are asking, what does the Bible say about the Antichrist, the Man of Lawlessness, and the Beast. Should we be concerned about any individual currently ascending to power on the world stage? Although my book Final Warning goes into much greater detail about the characteristics of the evil one, let it suffice that all Christians must be aware that one is coming who is beginning to fit this profile.
Beware of the one who comes as a type of messiah promising to save the world from its present crisis by speaking half truths and outrageous lies; one who promises world wide peace by sitting down with your enemies. Beware of the one, who promises universal health care for the whole person (both physical and psychological) with its hidden agenda of leading you to trust in psychology instead of trusting in God exclusively, which is idolatry. Furthermore, this allows the evil one and his established order to control your life. This control is precipitated by electronic record keeping and preventative health requirements that will mandate physical and psychological care if you wish to keep your benefits. Be wary of the one who voted for the bailout bill that gives government more involvement in the private sector and definitive control over millions of home loans. Tucked into this bill is a mental health provision that will ultimately give companies power over their employees by requiring that they get psychological counseling and drugs to improve their productivity. Be very careful of the one who promises to bring change to those living in the midst of fallen Babylon through his own strength and intellect.
Christian don't be deceived, because Obama easily fits this profile. He is espousing a political rebellion against the so called established order and leading God's children in open rebellion against Him. He does this by leading the world to put their trust in him or his new world religion to solve all their problems and meet their needs instead of trusting in God alone and His providential care. Obama openly nullifies the law of God by sanctioning same sex relationships and partial birth abortion ??? deserving the title ???Man of Lawlessness.??? Christian don???t be dismayed that the Republican party lost the election. Indeed it was easy to be fooled by the Republican Party and the audacity of talk radio claiming to be on the side of Christianity by rejecting homosexual unions and the freedom of choice. Clearly they only courted the Christian vote to further their own evil agenda of excessive greed and lust for power. Stop trusting in Obama or the Republican Party to bring about change. Real change is only possible through the transforming power of the Gospel which brings true healing to the whole man and his community. Jesus Christ as the true Author of change.

What a letdown, splashy heading, poor reasearch, lame analysis. Geez, I should write for Newsweek if this woman has a job!

'The people who believe Obama is the Antichrist are perhaps jumping to conclusions, but they're not nuts'

    Yes, they are nuts.

"In the event that RaptureReady crashes during the apocalypse, anyone who needs an update will, with a simple Google search, be able to get one."

This is just too funny - does anyone seriously think that in the middle of the apocalypse, people will stop to do Google searches?

    What would Jesus Google?

Does St. Peter own a PC or a Mac?

Having a personal relationship with a Higher Power is one thing, but this whole 'antichrist' thing is getting out of hand. "The people who believe Obama is the Antichrist are perhaps jumping to conclusions, but they're not nuts."

No, but the people who think that some guy on an internet site with a rapture index has all the answers sure might be.

What in the world is this garbage doing in Newsweek? Perhaps most disturbing is the author's tone: "we may not agree with these people, but their sentiments are certainly understandable." Er, no, they are not; they're insane. Newsweek, please give Ms. Miller her medication back.

As a Christian, I'm in complete and utter disgust that Newsweek has even considered this fundamentalist garbage as newsworthy. Didn't Fundamentalists also make the same accusations when the young supposed smooth-talker named Bill Clinton was elected president?! It's amazing how shortsighted and completely ignorant the far-rght has become, even in the midst of so many problem that are country faces. bo=

We might as well get all this out in the open so it doesn't fester away. People, this is what your neighbors are thinking. We have to fight this ignorant neurotic belief system every day, and any decent way we can,
