The secularists won, and now the zealots want cooperation? Where was the offer when tax dollars were stolen and distributed to churches by the last administration? Where was this old man when we engaged in an illegal, immoral war that dragged our society closer to the end than it has ever been? Supporting Zionism is somehow twisted into being a virtue?

Religion is poison, and those who promote be they countries, churches or individuals are either liars, mad, or working their own agendas wrapped in some psychotic scripture.

If your arguments for or against a choice are rooted in absurd Bronze Age mysticism some of us will always reserve the right to reject them in their entirety.

IMAGINE LAUNCHING ATTACKS AGAINST AN ENEMY BY TAKING CONTROL OF THEIR OWN WEAPONS VIA COMPUTER. OBAMA NEEDS TO APPOINT RICHARDSON TO BE SECRETARY OF STATE. HE IS A CALM COOL NEGOTIATER. NON POLARIZING. HE SPEAKS SPANISH AND CAN REALLY IMPROVE OUR RELATIONSHIPS ON THIS SIDE OF THE HEMISPHERE. HE CAN BRING PEACE TO THE MIDDLE EAST. WOMEN ARE NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY IN THE MIDDLE EAST. THE LAST TWO SECRETARY OF STATES HAVE BEEN WOMEN. ENOUGH WE NEED A CHANGE. I REALLY LIKE WARREN CHRISTOPHER WE NEED SOMEONE LIKE THAT. RICHARDSON IS THE MAN.

"We must decide whether the good in America is more true, or more potent than America's evil." Is this really a difficult decision for you?!!

The "good America" celebrated an historical achievement by, literally, dancing in the streets. People gathered in groups ranging from a few individuals watching telivision from their couches to thousands, TENS OF THOUSANDS, in stadiums and town squares to celebrate a singular victorious landmark in our national struggle for equality. People all over the world were uplifted by our triumph. Our American actions provided more spiritual invigoration to the troubled continent of Africa than the work of a thousand charitable or governmental programs.

Compare that to the plight of those who would see Obama or any person of color hurt or killed because of the color of their skin. They hide in the shadows. They are shunned and ridiculed. They are scorned for their ignorance and insignificance. They are a dying breed who's numbers continue to decline in the face of national and global enlightenment.

Is it really necessary to speculate as to which is the "more important, more dominant, more decisive and more reflective truth"?

I pity those who question the direction our society is moving. I am angered by those who CAN see that direction, but choose to engender fear and pessimism by making the irrelevant real.

Mr. Lucero's murder is indeed real. It is tragic. As a society, we fight vigorously to prevent such horrible crimes; but labelling the segment of our population that rejoices in such abominations as one of "the two Americas" is a disgusting act of fear mongering.

Sensationalism. That's the only reason to compare Obama's election to Lucero's murder. Why weigh the actions of a 100 million versus a half dozen? Is there really a meaningful comparison that can be made here?

There will always be a miniscule minority whose extreme beliefs and actions are antithetical to virtually the entire population's. By comparing the two you provide legitimacy to the hateful message of a handful of criminals.

Obviously the entire population does not believe Obama is the right person to hold the highest office; but the entire population, minus an ultra-minority, believes he at least should not be killed because of it. By comparing the desires of the 99.99% of the population that achieved a historic milestone to the .01% who support unthinkable hate, you cheapen rather than celebrate our progress as a society.

This article isn't meant to inform. It's meant to incite. You won't find Newsweek reporting on the division between Obama's supporters and Ralph Nader's. Why? First of all, because it's a non-issue due to Nader's supporters being such a small fraction of Obama's. More importantly though, because it's boring. There's no horror; no shock value. But Newsweek has no qualms about comparing our election of the first Africam-American president to some blood-soaked hatemongers' perverse actions as if an actual societal issue were being discussed. The murder of Mr. Lucero doesn't reflect America's values. Acting as if it does is irresponsible and insulting.
