    paulte, you can lump them, bump them or jump them and it will not breathe life back into a party that has died. If this would be so good for the GOP then why aren't they sitting quietly to the side instead of attacking the choice as not being change? Let me answer that for you. With the Clintons and their supporter aligning themselve with PRESIDENT-ELECT BARACK OBAMA, The Republicans are finished as a major party for the next 20 years. After that they will simply disappear altogther replaced by a moderate third party which after a couple of losing election cycles will surpass the GOP and emerge as the new 2nd party. mercifully, most of the old Republicans will have passed on. The cloud of depression is settling in now on the Republicans. They know they will never see another majority or another Republican president in their lifetime. it's over for them. They won't be missed.

    I don't think it would be wise for Obama to pick Hillary for Secretary of State. From a conservative point of view, the one thing Obama has going for himself is that he got rid of Hillary in the primaries. Why bring her back now?

    But then again from a conservative point of view the objective is to get rid of Obama after 4 years. So having Hillary as S of State would be good in that sense! The two can be lumped. republicans are planning for this even as I write.

    But if Obama is really interested in some sort of unity, he should be more concerned with making some sort of outreach to people on the right. That would be to put his hand out to us in friendship. Putting Hillary in the State slot would be more like giving us the finger!

    boadicea, It's a Republican issue and they know it spells doom for them. Just think of the depression, to know that in their lifetime, and that's not that long fro most of them, will they ever hold a majority position or have a Republican President. It's a political nightmare from which they will never awaken.

    The Republicans are having a cow over this alliance between the Clintonites and PRESIDENT -ELECT BARACK OBAMA and i don't blame them one bit. They have correctly deduced that the Democrats will increase their margins in the House and Senate and have a lock on the Whitehouse for the next 20 years. By that time the GOP will be dust in the wind!

    Where exactly has this fire been about a potential Secy of State Clinton? Not at any of the blogs I frequent-there's some discussion about it, but Clinton Derangement Syndrome is a traditional media malaise.

    Perhaps the Newsweek staff could get a vaccine? Like for the seasonal flu.

      Hi Pia, I certainly regret having had to log off last night, leaving you to be dumped on by Locolodi. The shame of it all is that I expect you have more friends and admirers of both genders on these posts than anyone else. Among all the antagonism and worse in these blogs, you make remarks that are sweet and fun. There are posters who go after you, but mostly they're just miscreants who make swipes to get attention or to spew their vitriol. Everyone else just likes to have fun with you, for a great big reason: you're sweet, nice and caring about others. I do not recall you making any inappropriate posts. If there were any, then they were mine. But until I am aided in seeing my posts as objectionable in comparison to the hate and offal that infects so many posts here, I just don't see a reason to make any apologies except for having left you on the receiving end of Locolodi's pious irrelevance. :-)

      Hi, I'm having the same problem. I've started copying before hitting post. I can then just paste again when it fails. Sometime three times, sometimes five. Gonna have to get back to work interrupted to check on things when I say what happened, and now I've got to get back on it. Nice to see you survived, but I'm sure it was most unpleasant.

    Hillary will a great team member on all fronts. She dose her homework and is very smart. She makes few mistakes if any. I have always loved her. I would feel so much better if she were out representing America. She will do an excellent job. Woman are the future and Hillary will open the door for new intelligence. This we have not had in the past eight years.

      Yes, kind of like when Obama had both Clintons eating out of his hand by him giving each of them a dedicated nite (2 nites out of 4?) to be part of the democratic convention. LOL.     The Clintons are not in talks with Obama's team because the Clintons are not team players. They have, from the beginning, made every effort to steamroll their way into the position of Secretary of State through leaks of false information to the press that supports her goal while undermining Obama.
    The President-Elect needs to bite the proverbial bullet and flat out say that ALL "candidates" for the position must submit to the same vetting process and that the process evidently is too rigorous for the Clintons and that the country's need to get the process completed quickly means he must name someone else immediately.
    With the Clintons causing this much trouble now, Obama must realize that should he name her, he will have absolutely NO control over anything related to foreign policy, plus she WILL leak defense and homeland security information to advance their interests.
    It's time to wrap this thing up and call it the mistake it has been. Every President makes some mistakes, and life goes on if they don't let them grow and fester.

    OK... Now that we have moved past the spectacle that is, "The Election of President of the United States"; we are free to discuss ACTUAL POLITICS (free from emotion, prejudice and spin)... My guy won by the way... It is my serious belief that, there really isn't a position within the Obama Administration for, either Clinton. They have both proven themselves to be, full of contempt for President -Elect Obama as well as his Policies.

    Did Caesar Vet Brutus... Having ???Hillarious??? or ???Slick??? would seem to, initiate the undoing of President -Elect Obama by allowing people who, can't be trusted to represent America and his Policies abroad...

    One could almost liken either Clinton to Kennedy having LBJ so close to him (based on the conjecture and hearsay that LBJ, allegedly had a knowing, participation in what happened at Dallas). In all honesty, the Clintons are notorious for building Unholy Alliances, in order to have THEIR bidding carried out... Not to mention that, both Clintons are too well known, within the International Community (not to mention the fact that both Clintons are deeply plugged into the International Intelligence Apparatus). This would most certainly serve to undermine the Foreign Policy aspirations of President-Elect Obama, to say the least...

    I surely wouldn't allow for either Clinton to go into meetings with those "hostile nations". You can't give those two, any room to build coalitions or sympathy...

    BILL RICHARDSON??? Huh, I can just see the nukes flying over the horizon... Mr. Richardson is too much of an incompetent, political lap-dog... Remember the missing Hard Drives and Lap-Tops, not to mention China's gain in missile technology (of course you don't remember, you're an American who is probably inundated with Entertainment and an incredibly short memory span)...

    THE ONLY LOGICAL CHOICE WOULD BE COLLIN POWELL... or even Condi Rice (before you say anything about her, keep in mind that, SHE IS A GOOD SOLDIER WHO TOOK HER MARCHING ORDERS FROM the out-going Numb-Skull)...

    In short the Obama Camp needs to select a S-of-S who is respected in the International Community, someone who has been regularly briefed on Intelligence issues, someone who will be loyal to both America and the Obama Administration and last but not least, someone who the President-Elect could actually take, an unguarded NAP, around...

    GIVE COLLIN THE OPPORTUNITY TO SAVE FACE BY, ACTUALLY PERFORMING THE TASKS OF S-of-S AND NOT PLAYING THE ROLL OF "TALKING HEAD MESSENGER BOY"...

      You mean remembered as the president who allowed Al Queda to set up bases in Iraq, never finished the job in Afghanistan, conducted (gasp!) diplomacy w/North Korea, used 9/11 to diminish privacy rights, bankrolled Pakistan while never getting cooperation to catch Bin Laden, took a national surplus and turned it into a massive deficit and an economic meltdown of historic proportions, leaving us in debt to China well into the future. But the real goody is he has almost single handedly left the GOP in tatters.

      The war is not over in Iraq! North Korea is not disarmed! The only thing Bush pulled was your leg! He inherited the surplus left by clinton and turned it into a recession. I'll agree we are safer at home since 911, We better be with the billion or so dollars we've invested to upgrade security.The terrorist are more responsible for our safety because of our new awareness and a recognition of our vunerabilities.. What's the odds of 9 muslims getting their hands on jet airliners for a repeat? i actually like the Bush smugness. A President needs a look like that. It exudes confidence, i think.

      Uh... no.... North Korea still takes hostages, tests rockets over Japan, and threatens neighboring countries. They shot a SKorean tourist pretty recently.
      The Bush Administration disarmed NKorea by having them destroy weapons that did not exist. As we know, this administration is good at destroying weapons that do not exist.
      The weapons that DO exist are still there.
      I think maybe you are not paying attention. Do you work for the Bush administration? I mean.. that would explain it.
