I'm changing my handle to double poster. sorry.

I THINK YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR HANDLE TO " WEE WEE WILLIE BLOW JOB SUPPORTER ".

  • Posted By: McLovinB @ 11/19/2008 10:49:10 AM

So I looked it up earlier today. Secretaries of State who later became President.
    Here is what I found....
The good, the bad, and the ugly.
James Buchanan, Herbert Hoover, James Monroe, J. Quincy Adams, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson.

I was interested in finding out whether being SoState would be better or worse than being a Senator for someone with higher ambitions. I would think it would put Hillary in mostly good company to do so. She will do a good job at whatever she wants to do.
Can you imagine having a mother or sister wondering whether to be Secretary of State or a Senator? Amazing.
I think someone said she has no experience with foreign affairs. Yeah right! As if.
Keeping the Clintons near the WhiteHouse is good luck and a great deal for America. The Clintons get things done.
And it would be great to have a President someday who really knows the world and is interested in expanding America's role in it.. I mean, in a GOOD way.

Excellent comments. Although I have not been fond of the Clintons, I now support them.

        CLINTON UPPORTER ?

        BARF !

T, I only support them for Obama's sake. Nice to see you as always.

marley07, Bill Clinton turned deficit into surplus and prosperity. Bush turned surplus and prosperity into deficit and recession. That's why Bill Clinton is revered as a leader and Bush has a unfavorable rating of 72%.

If you live in this country, you know the American people and Hillary were not "ok" with Clinton's adultery. We don't punish adultery severly here. if we did, we'd need a prison on every corner.

There are more than a few Republicans commenting here who were praising Hillary when they were after the Women's vote post primary and are now back to attacking her. Didn't work then and it's not working now.

I think it's a done deal that Hillary with be appointed to Sec. of State. Why would Bill Clinton be eliminating hurdles to make it happen. I believe President Obama is taking it slow and dictating what President Clinton must separate himself from to make it happen and it's apparent that he will do what's necessary. In another piece of news, Senator John Kerry will assume the Chairmanship of the Senate Foriegn Relations committee, replacing Vice president Joe Biden.

THis side of the hemisphere has many problems, first Chavez and the leader in BOlivia. Colombia and all it's problems. Richardson would negotiate a proper Free Trade Agreements and has a better understanding of Latin American countries. It is time a Spanish person was refelected is reflected in the administration. All other minorites are. Alberto Gonzalez was a disgrace. Give Richardson a chance he is a great negotiater and is perfect for the job.

Obama is about to make his first mistake, appointing Hillary to be Secretary of State. Hillary is more than capable but there are too many intangibles she brings to the table:
1)Bill Clinton- I can picture the headlines now, Bill caught in a Hotel room with some exotic women while Hillary is in Middle East Peace conference.
2)Clintons are too polarinzing- The Clintons will be the target of Conservative comeback. They have nothing else to attack do not give them something to feed on.

Obama you are President now and represent America in the World. You have to appoint someone who is not so polarizing and political. Someone who you can mold in your image someone who is not so polarizing with their own agenda. Hillary brings too much baggage and has her mind set. We need a change the Clintons time has passed. Hillary has been a good Senator and could better serve America with Health Care and Education. The press will be all over Bill and we do not want anymore embarassements.
GIVE THE JOB TO BILL RICHARDSON. He is perfect for the job. He speaks Spanish, he is a MALE and will listen to you. Barak do not wait. Hillary is already playing politics by leaking stories and forcing you to give her the job.

P.S. We are losing the CYBER WAR. It is much more complicated than you think and this is why we need a Cyber ARmy. RIght now we are losing. Russia and CHina put this issue at the top of their agenda we are just now realizing the scope. We need more people in our CYBER ARMY. TRUST ME!!!

"Obama...you have to appoint someone who is not so polarizing and political". Wow, a truely revealing statement about most Obama supporters. Did you forget (or just not aware) that Obama was the MOST liberal (junior) senator in the Senate. Polarizing the country is what he has done his entire (short-lived) career. Voting "present" over 100 times in his (short-lived) career is as about as political as you can get. Seriously, what did you expect?? Obama is polarizing and political, better get used to it especially since it what you voted for.

OMG!! you still on that BJ! thing?, we are talking about being or NOT being Secretary Of State; and as far as Mrs Clinton sticking by HER husband; let see how well you do when IF your turn comes!! Gee!!, get a grip!

..........................................Hillary should keep her Senate Seat and make her efforts to help humanity from there. Both Hillary and Bill will loose an amount of personal freedom if she gets involved as Secretary of State. They have contributed alot already to help America and have taken plenty of lumps from idiots along the way.......They should enjoy their remaining years doing the pleasant things in life. Politics is not worth it as something to do if one only has a limited number of years ahead to enjoy life.....Live while you can!!!!!

    • Posted By: McLovinB @ 11/19/2008 11:07:20 AM

My feeling about the Clintons, and it might seem hokey, is that they still want to serve the country. Look at Bill on TV shows or interviews, and you can tell that the guy has the big picture. He still has a lot to offer the American people, and it shows. He is a reasonable guy who really deserved better from all of us.

Being a Senator is no cake walk, but you can tell that Hillary wants more. If so, great, let her do it.
Politicians and public life are getting so tawdry and tattered with scandals and corruption by pretty small people for chump change. The Clintons have been under a spotlight forever, and have got to be squeaky clean or we would know about it. Everyone is watching them so closely all the time that I am sure all their skeletons are out of their closets and buried. It would be a waste to just let them sit on a beach somewhere if they want to get in there and fight the good fight.
THOSE are the people who should be out there leading if they still have the will to do it..

Exactly!! Obama is counting on her to take the job because of President Clinton's connections around the world, but I hope she does NOT take it, just because of the insults that she has to go trough to get this job. If I was her I tell them to shovt it!! where the sun more than obvious has not shined.

  • Posted By: corwin27 @ 11/19/2008 7:59:47 AM

bring back statesmanship. enough of the politics. Pick a person for sec state that can negotiate effectively with the world. Is that Senator Clinton? Is her choice as sec state a carrot to her and her supporters or good for the country? The Clinton's have done great work for the US, but they have the unfortunate ability to cloud our minds with superfluous issues. Does the prez need that? As much as I admire Senator Clinton, I think she should be appointed to a less crucial post.

    • Posted By: McLovinB @ 11/19/2008 10:55:07 AM

One is left to wonder who would be better...
      As a negotiator
      As a problem solver
      As a creative thinker
As someone with vast resources and connections.
Seriously, the question is not IS SHE GOOD ENOUGH TO DO IT.
The question is, IS THIS HER BEST OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE?
I really wish that someone could carry the baton on health care, but I would settle for Hillary as SoState, with Bill there as a shoulder to cry on... haha.

  • Posted By: Marty63 @ 11/19/2008 10:52:36 AM

Just one thing to say: Quite honestly Mrs Clinton does NOT need to be Secretary of State, she is GRAND without the Obama's and without any humilliaring VETTING. Thanks, but no thanks, she has already said it.

  • Posted By: amironen @ 11/19/2008 10:50:45 AM

Not to mention the fact that Obama will have string-pull on Bill Clinton, who still carries huge respect world-wide, his former VP Nobel-prize-winner (I can't believe I just said that) Al Gore, and Clinton new-best-bud JHW Bush. Those are huge feathers in the hat. Not to mention : "keep your friends close- and your enemies closer"

  • Posted By: poet1951 @ 11/19/2008 10:47:05 AM

Hillary has been screaming her head off about education and health care, put her in charge of that. Putting her in as Secretary of State is just giving Bill more clout with his money making skeems...electing Obama was the best thing that's happened to the Demos, it ended the Clinton machine...I'm not against Hillary, but as long as she's attached to Bill, it can only end in embarassment for our country.

For those that question President Obama's choice of former Clinton Whitehouse persons, a closer look is needed. So far President Obama has chosen at least 2 former Clintonites for important posts. Emanuel for Chief of Staff and Holder as his AG. I'm sure there will be several more. Bill Clinton was in the Whitehouse for 8 year before Bush took over and virtually every star and budding star was involved with him. Where did we think the experienced and talented people would come from.? Surely not the Republican party? So where's the change? The change that President Obama speaks of is the change from Republican rule where the rich are made richer and the middle class is supressed. A change from Republican rule where the minimum wage is frozen, health care is unavailable to many and our privacy rights were violated. Let us also take a closer look at the choices so far. Almost all were on board with and supported President Obama from the get go. They put their political careers in jeopardy for change. They are part of the promised changes, not obstructions to it. We don't need a change from the Clinton years of surplus and growth, we need a change from the Republic rule when all was lost.

I work for a college and my co-workers and myself saw Colin Powell leaving the Bush administration as a good thing for him. After the 2004 election, you may recall, that many staff members jumped ship on Bush. I think they saw where the administration was headed and got out while they could. Would you want to be associated with the worst Presidency in United States history? I think Colin Powell is still a great man and is largely regarded well by the general public. He still carries political clout - his endorsement of Obama was considered a huge positive by Democrats. I think history will be much kinder to Powell than it ever will be to Bush.

This is an excellent and well-written article. I hope that a lot of people read it.

Clinton doesn't have one bit of experience with forieng affairs. Newsweek, you are a bunch of idiots!

  • Posted By: pps1 @ 11/19/2008 9:12:14 AM

i thought hillary's foreign affairs experience had pretty much been discounted during the campaign (e.g., she went to teas and said she was under fire when she wasn't). what barack needs is a respected, experienced, career diplomat. enough of the clintons and their people already!

    • Posted By: Repubssuck @ 11/19/2008 9:26:40 AM

do you really think President Obama would appoint a person to one of the most important jobs in the country based on her tea drinking ability. Don't sell hillary short, she'll be a great Sec. of State if she gets the job.

      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 11/19/2008 9:37:42 AM

Hillary is perfect for the position since she has met with most of the world leaders.

Pia1981, i know this evaluation is coming from an ardent supporter that was with him from the beginning. Your comments are much appreciated and respected by Hillary supporters.

Rep-thank you. I appreciate your comments. Yes, I have been an ardent supporter of Pres. elect Obama since the primaries and although I was not a Hillary Clinton fan, I have come to like her and support her.
