Guess my family must be strange - I've not had a piece of turkey on my plate in years (not a vegetarian, just not a turkey lover), yet no body has pointed it out....I can get plenty of good stuff on my plate to fill me up without having to eat something I don't want. Do people in your family ridicule you if you don't like green bean casserole?? There are so many more things to fight about at the Thanksgiving table - why make it about the best part.....the food!? I really thought this article would be about how to pretend you are happy spending time with the inlaws you despise or pasting a smile on your face to please your mom while you secretly want to punch your sister! ha ha.....

What a weird article. It doesn't ever mention the ethical angle. It's from the point of view that the vegetarians are missing out, worth of being made fun of, and making the "regular" people feel uncomfortable.

With well-planned, delicious veg dishes, there's no need for Tofurky. May I suggest planning the meal around foods native to this continent. I have, in the past, done asparagus-corn crepes; pumpkin souffle; black bean/corn kugel; and chocolate pecan pie. Chocolate, pecans, beans, corn, and pumpkin are among the many great foods gifted to the world by the Western Hemisphere!

Everyone's palate is different - to my taste Tofurky is nasty. If you are hankering for a "Turkey " substitute, try Quorn Turk'y Roast. It is suprisingly good for a meat analog. They even got the texture to be fairly turkey-like! Even the meat-eaters liked it.

That's nothing...this year we had to go gluten free...ever try shopping for Thanksgiving and not being able to cook with wheat or modified food starch items? GAH!
