"so sick of hollywood's political agenda"

At least Hollywood is real, as opposed to god.

Hollywood real? Laughable, at the very least.

Some may try to wage an argument that God doesn't exist, but only a complete, idiotic moron would even attempt to convince anyone that Hollywood is "real!" LMAO!!!

There IS a place called Hollywood. In fact there are several towns in the US called "Hollywood", so they are very much real. I never said that what Hollywood does is real, although the films are real. They are tangible products, and you can physically put your hands on them.

But just like religion and god, they are also completely man-made and a product of the human imagination. For some they (both hollywood's produycts and god/religion) serve a useful purpose and for others they are junk.

Also, just like religion, hollywood does not speak with one voice. There are liberals, conservatives and moderates in Hollywood, and both "agendas" have been served throughout it's history.

I am not a big fan of Hollywood, but I have also seen the garbage from both sides of the aisle. .

Okay... I misinterpreted your post. I agree that Hollywood also has moderates and conservatives. More than people think. I have two friends that are successful, but work in the technical side of the industry who are moderate Republicans. They, like other unknowns stay in closet for fear of being ostracized by the likes of Tim Robbins and Alec Baldwin, who wield a lot of power. Bigger names, (Kelsey Grammar, Patricia Heaton, Jon Voight), are different... they can tell Tim and company to take a hike.

I'm a 32 year old single female in - to beat it all - Appalachia. One of my good friends is the director of the LGBT society at our university. He's done a good bit for civil rights. I can't find straight men here I want to be married to, but even when he finds men he wants to marry, he can't. That's wrong. While I'm here, I'm a teacher, and I've taught gay couples who have healthier relationships than some of the straight couples I've taught. I completely understand how many straights see it as an affront to a holy institution, but it's an institution that I, as a straight women who's unsuccessfully dated many men, see as flawed though romantic. My students love each other, and I sometimes think of my students as my children. Many of my students are also community activists.. Give them love and let them do what's needed in this world. They obviously have a better ideal than we do.

Homosexuality is a filthy, disease-ridden practice explicitly condemned by God.

"Homosexuality is a filthy, disease-ridden practice explicitly condemned by God."

      YAWWNN!!!

Sicne there is not god (outside of the human mind, since god and religion are purely human creations) your comment is null and void.

As a matter of principle, as in moral standard, this is one movie I will not go and see, award-material or not.

It is beyond my comprehension why people fear differences in humanity. Anti-gay comments remind me (at least in character) of the moral self-righteousness my grandfather held toward racial minorities. I loved the man, but despised his prejudice. One day, anti-gay prejudice will be viewed by society in a similar fashion. Nurse5658.

Being human is a filthy, disease-ridden practice allegedly attributed to "god"; but anyway...back to the Oscars; I had no idea that the outcomes of these awards were so closely tied to the current political goins on. So much for objectivity :)

they should have given penn an oscar for acting like he cared about the people in new orleans after katrina

Sean Penn may win an Oscar, but if his film has a gay love story at its heart, it will not. The Academy already showed it was willing to reward a piece of kitsch like Crash over a magnificent gay-themed film like Brokeback Mountain. Most of the Academy voters will not see the Harvey Milk film, and will vote against it just because of its theme. They won't hold it against Penn for playing gay, but they'll hold it against the film that it exists as an affront to their prejudices.
