Second and I hope we get them home soon.

Life is Good and God is Good!
You sure seem to be. You hate the rep party with a passion, but once again, you've done extremely well over the past 40 years under 7 of their administrations vs. 3 three dems.
It makes sense though, as a socialist, you'd love a one party system. But of course, only after you've cashed in.
Home from work already? Must have been a tough day.
Actually, I'm on my way out of the door... I just couldn't leave without addressing your BS. Floridave will keep you in line....
ok
Who said anything about a one party system? i just said the Republican party is defunct. A new party will surely emerge with former Repubicans that don't preach hate and don't sell out their country to the fat cats.
What makes you think the Democratic party doesn't deal with Fat Cats? Look at all the bs Obama and his chronies pulled during the race with their record breaking "donations" and the fact that he broke his promise on "public funding". So don't even go there with the Democrats are all nice and sweet! It takes two to tango and the Democratic party just hid in the shadows to let the Republican party take the brunt!
ok
You know a person cannot just pont out the mistake and offer no solutions. I suggest we put our differences behind us, for the moment, and try to be supportive of having at least two viable political parties in the country. So, what's the first step to organizing a party made up of conservative center right moderates? A NAME! Let's choose a name for the party that will become the political opposition to our party. it will be a formidable party with guys like Chuck Hagel, Christopher Shays, and John McCain. I'm open to suggestions and I think participation will jump start those that want to go in a new direction. Funny names or insulting names are not acceptable. I've been trying to think of one and I'm not doing very well. It, i think would have to be descriptive of a party that is for the people. It would probaly have to have a National sounding name, like the American party os something of that nature. Once the party has a name recruiting of willing leaders can start. i certainly wouldn't expect success as far as the whitehouse goes but I wouldn't reject it either. Ask yourself this, if an intellegent candidate with a reputation for caring about the middle class with a moderate point of view ran against a Democrat in a former Red state, would he have a good chance? The answer has to be yes. You know, most of us believe that we need more thatn one party. We need checks and balances. Unfortunately the party that was once viable has only provided obstruction. this post is not done tongue in cheek. Let help those that want to start anew. it would be unfair just to demand they become Democrats when they have legitimate differences.
whatisreal, who lied? Kerry, Gore, and both Clintons talked constantly about Saddam's links to terrorists and his quest for WMDs. Were they part of the evil conspiracy, or were they suckers?
They could be both.
I rest my case about your extremism.
So your argument is that Clinton, Gore, and Kerry were all angels?
No actually Carney has no arguement. It is old dried up rhetoric from the camp that provided such losers as Bush and Cheney. It is as inept and ignorant as it was 6 years ago and billions of dollars and gallons of blood, not oil.
That is what they do. They get pinned down and then they start pointing fingers becuase they will never be held accountable. Hence the "Clinton, Gore, Kerry" distraction. Who gives a *** about them. They didn't ge us into Iraq, it was BUSH, it was BUSH! Get it Carney? Get it, your man fukd up and you support the deaths and distruction, and i despise that.
Kerry and Clinton voted for the war too, and Gore and Pres. Clinton made overthrowing Saddam US governement policy, and warned darkly about the danger his regime posed because of terror and WMD. Facts all. Raving Bush hatred is a mental illness. Of course I oppose death and destruction; I deplore the enemies of the United States who continue to resist us violently and cause it to continue. Why don't "anti war" types EVER criticize anti-American, anti-Western violent actors? Because they're not really anti-war.
Yes and the democrats put politics before their country's interests. Not my fault they lack a backbone, not going to defend that. i know why they did it and it did not have much to do with a threat from Saddam.
Fighting for this country includes fighting against your mentality. We will get fooled again if we are fools. So it is not terrorists that are this huge threat, they are what they are, and thier tactics are very destructive and they should be destroyed. With that said, our govermment has used terrorist tactics against us by using fear to propel their agenda.
That has been slapped down, got the smack down! Now we fight for our values, and a country we can be rpoud of. Because we are the real Americans. We are real patriots. We don't have to wear flag pins, we don't have to back inept policies that undermine our values, we fight them, we expose them , and we spill that tea in the water.
We will continue to marginalze Carney and Fdave and folks that are destructive to our values and our pride, becuase we know pride in our country is prde in our values and our holding to those values.
So Carney, your mentality is the enemy that will defeat this country, your fear and judgement are the enemy that takes us down paths the wise would not tread. Yuo are what is left of those in denial, you are left in the wilderness to cry and lick your wounds after the GOP failed on the coattails of little incompetent Bush.
My mentality is one that will defeat this country?? Wait, let's double check. I want US victory in Iraq, and for America and its allies to crush the terrorists wherever they are. You do not; you favor defeat in Iraq (however rephrased, disguised, and obfuscated). You make black white and up down. Falsehood piled on falsehood.
I can't debate this with you, you are still stuck in the lie.
There is no win or lose in Iraq, it is do the best with the mess we were given by the mighty Bush. You can't even see that, you do not have the capacity to see that, you are one of the few puppets still stuck in the lie.
What is US victory? Patraues said there is no victory in Iraq, it is not about that. There was no real goal to base victory on, and the Mission was Accomplished when the decider was on the deck of the USS mission accomplished.
Your question really ignores so much that I can't even respond to or even debate it for what it is worth. Get out of the weeds and study the whole 30 years of regional history, take off your GOP hat and meet me in the middle, then we can talk.
We know about Saddam and his quest for WMDs and gasing the Kurds and all. North Korea was developing, Saddam had inspectors on his doorstep. We went into Iraq, and called Kim jong names. You can try and justify it all you want, but it was criminal, and quite obviously a political play.
Afganistan i understand, Iraq, well sorry iraq was a blunder and a lie, and it was criminal.
Please get up to speed then ask something relevent.
You dodged the question because to answer it would destroy your thesis of deliberate falsehood. The reality was that Saddam was mixed up in terror and WMDs and after 9/11 the long farce of "hide the pea" with inspectors, and openly paying bounties to suicide bomber families, etc etc could no longer be tolerated. Bush bowed to implacable critics and sought a superfluous 17th UN resolution on top of the 15 existing ones, this one giving Saddam a "final opportunity" to fully disarm and disclose. His response was not even defended by the bought-off French as anything other than an insult. At some point, after a decade of diplomacy, sanctions, and limited military strikes, you have to act. It may be fashionable to hate Bush and advocate defeat, but he deserves credit for acting at long long last.
And look at all the good it's done! You Yanks are BRILLIANT! You've bogged your military down, bankrupted yourselves, and made yourselves a pariah in the world community.
You really showed those terrorists! First rate job!
So we should never "bog our military down" by actually getting its hands dirty and fighting our enemies? Parade ground spit and polish only eh? Toothless threats in future, to be met with derisive laughter. Tell me, how will fleeing and running away, abandoning our friends who have staked their lives on our grit and staying power, inspire fear in our foes, hearten our allies, and inspire fence sitters to come over to us?
"Carney"; No stupid, we 'bogged our troops down' by entering an elective war, and by choosing NeoCon fantasies over the advice and wisdom of our experienced military and diplomats.
You might address that cut and run question with Bush.
Most of the professional diplomatic corps have a severe case of client-itis, having become co-opted by the foreigners they spend their time with. Instead of a voice of advocacy for America to foreigners, they become a redundant second voice of advocacy of foreigners to America. John Bolton is a refreshing change from that stagnant fetid pond. Naturally he is hated by the "cozy tea parties at all costs, forthrightly standing up for US interests is so declasse" crowd.
The voice is not what we say it is what we do. Ask a child, they will tell you that. Diplomacy means nothing when you trash the values of this great country. Don't you guys get it? You look like fools and you are being laughed at. Bolton, Gone! We need people with something besides a cowboy mentality. These so called tough guys are a joke, and couldn't think out of thier little boxes.
You lost big and you still are spouting the same loser sht that put you in the wilderness in the first place..
You are really funny!
First we should have good rational judgement. Fence sitters will come over out of respect and good judgement. Who gives a *** if you have a great military and you are corrupt?
The stuff you are saying sounds like it comes off the back of a cereal box, where you get a toy gun by digging down to the bottom of the cereal.
your ideals are really out of touch with reality, and your ideas of "fence sitters' is really some of that old rhetoric I would hear from the old white religious right who could would not know Jesus if he walked in the room. In fact, they would kill him for looking arab, and even brand him as a terrorist.
Wow, you seriously think neutrals, waverers, and wait-and-see types will be inspired and impressed by a humiliating and disasstrous defeat for US interests in Iraq, and will flock to our banner for other fights against terrorists in other lands? You're barking mad, or deliberately deceptive.
There is no win or loss. You are out of your league..
You cannot even get the thing in perspective. Your man lied and got us into the mess and we will get out with dignity and fight the real threats, not the manufactured threats. Sorry Carney, really not that ignorant. When we no longer fly the banner of hypocrasy, then we can talk, and that day is coming the day Bush is out of office. Commander and Chief my A$$. Decider, ya right,..
What a joke, not a leader, just a Poser, a puppet of an esatblishment that bent this country over and fukkked it, and said, would you like more, there is more where that came from.
I don't ever put it in those terms. That is what you are saying. Since you support lying and decption I cannot imagine you could think beyond the black and white or the us vs. them mentality that is basically the dawonfall of the GOP and the reason for the embarassment of our fine country.
You won't have that chance again for a long time. You are old school, old simpeton solutions and do not have the capacity to understand that there are people that have way more on the ball than BUsh, who basically sold us down the river.
Also, the argument that by fighting in Iraq we are harming the war effort in Afghanistan is bunk. Great nations can do more than one thing at once. D-Day came the same day as the first large scale daylight bombing raids on Japan, and the day after the liberation of Rome. It's a matter of whether you are looking at the world through a drinking straw and only pursuing the handful of men directly responsible for 9/11, or whether you have definitively decided to do whatever it takes so that it can never happen again, regardless of which specific anti-American Islamic extremist terrorist group and its state sponsors are in question.
The really sad thing is that your mentality fell right into th hands of the terrorists. They played a psychological game of terror, and you fell right in the trap, along with our government. Please don't relate any other war to terrorism, you sound like an idiot, and I don't want to treat you as one. i want to find a common ground of understanding so we can be on the same team, and you are really making it difficult.
We are absolutley stretching ourselves thin, do you understand how many batallions we have and how many we can put anywhere else if needed? You are clueless!
The fact that you compare this to WW2 lets me know how truly out of touch you are. There is no 'war' on terrorism. Terrorism is a tactic and can be used at almost any time. A roadside bomb could be planted in America and that would be terrorism, a psychological attack.
You cannot fight this with conventional means, and cannot put it in the context of a conventional war like we had in WW2, where we had support, and where we provided support.
I swear to God! They don't get it! I am so happy that they have been marginalised and 'real Americans" can try and clean up this horrendous mess they got us in.
Also, the main reason we did not go into North Korea was that it already had nukes. Once a country goes nuclear, going on the offensive militarily against it has to come off the table as an option. Going into Iraq helped prevent that from happening there. So taunting Bush about attacking Iraq and not North Korea just illustrates either malice or a dumbfounding lack of basic understanding.
Keep clear of Carney, Carney is clueless.
Actually North Korea talked about having nukes, bragged about it. Nobody knwe anything for sureuntil they tested underground (which was still questionable), which was way after we invaded Iraq. You are so out of touch that I will not be able to communicate or debate you.
I debated this before we went into Iraq with a Colonel friend of mine. He said Iraq is about low-hanging fruit, and I furthered tha with the real reason we went in there. There was no more discussion, it was agrreed and obvious well before the criminalality purpotrated by the administration to jump into it.
Bush does not deserve credit for Iraq. He should be jailed fo life for Iraq, and Cheny should be, well i should refrain...
A new day has dawned and so just haven't awaked yet. I'm predicting that many of the "loyal opposition" will soon come around and admit that they were duped.
Many of the Republicans on the Blogs resort to posting links. Are they devoid of ideas and opinions of their own? Parroting biased preachers of hate isn't blogging. It's feeble and meaningless.
resuck, no it isn't feeble and meaningless. Unless the subject is common knowledge, it's the only way to substantiate one's claims, rather than to simply be expected to believe someone's agenda.
There's a few dems that do this also...
You never seem to quote old lardassed Rushbo out in the open. why not? It's biking today. Everything a working person in this country has earned has been ripped from the greedy hand of the GOP. Don't try to take credit of a middle class person's sucess. It didn't fly in the election and doesn't fly now. Try explaining why every Republican President and every Republican Senate and House Member opposes a hike int he minimum wage. do you find those working class people un deserving?
Cat got your tongue?
You really do hate Rush, but you do listen to him, don't you? I don't agree with everything he says, and have my own ideas. Go ahead and gripe, suck. The fact remains that you've had 7 rep admins to 3 dems in the past 40 years.
The minimum wage has to be held at workable level for businesses to operate. Simalar to high taxes, if the min. wage gets too high, business must raise prices, which will not allow them to operate. I worked for over two years in my teens at minimum wage... 1.25 an hour and did just fine. I gained work experience and moved on. As I moved up, so did my income. That's the way it works in a capitalist society. Of course, as a socialist, you think people working in entry level or basic skill level jobs should make a very nice living. It doesn't and can't work that way here. BTW, why don't you ask why your speaker of the house wanted to raise the min. wage for everyone, except those in American Samoa? You won't, because you won't like the answer.
And the reason "it didn't work in the election" as you put it, is because of people like you blame anyone in office (regardless of the party) for all their ills, which you of course have few or none.
Anyone debating with you is pissing in the wind. You've already demonstrated you're not interested in seeing any factual truth. If you do, you disrgard it. Your above post lobbying against any "links" proves that.
One more thing about minimum wage.... to raise them for entry level and basic skill level jobs, it means that your wages (when you were employed) must come down to compensate. Either that, or raise prices to the point where the company can't stay in business. I'll bet you'd have sung a very different song had your employer suddenly granted your wish to raise the min. wage but suddenly dropping yours!
Oh yeah... tell me that'll work!
Cat got your tongue?
Can't wait for you to come up with something.... I have to go work.
Typical liberals. They like to start a fight but can't finish. Cowards! All they want is their spread the wealth handout!
Unlike you who whiles his days away golfing, biking, fishing, and whining and complaining because the sun's just a little too bright, I have job to do and a business to operate.
Can't wait for you to come up with something. going biking.
Enjoy your bike ride... when you get back we'll expect more bitching, whining and griping because your ice cream a tad too cold!
And by the way, feeble diversion. Your follow up post had nothing to do with posting links, which is what your post and my reply was about.
On January 20, 2009 the Country will emerge from the darkness and become once again the party of the people. Those who are not Democrats will see the stark differences between the GOP and our party. The Democratic ranks will grow as never before. The American people have the ability to sort fact from fiction and their eyes will be opened to the fact than many of us already know. That the Democrats are the party of the Middle Clas and the Poor. Now that we know our vote can mean real change, there's no stopping us.
Bob Dylan, Get out of the way if you can't lend a hand. Times they are a changing.
Now is the time to come to the aid of your party. We have done on the blogs what PRESIDENT-ELECT OBAMA did in his campaign. He easily deflected the feeble attemps to attack him and returned fire withcarpet-bombing Ad technics. McCain and the republican were in horror an confusion throughout the campaign. The Democrats won and will continue to win for many year because we did sit and take the lies and distortions thrown at us ala Al Gore and John Kerry. Now they are in retreat and there no need to chase them down any longer. When it gets closer to the 2010 Senate and House races we can pick it up again. All that's left here a few mouth-breather from the GOP party of hate and are not worth anyone's attention.
Happy thanks Giving to the Democrats, Independents and especially those Republicans who put us over the top.
I guess affirmative action applies to the white house too!
oh my god, what i hope will come of an Obama presidency is an end to articles like this in 8 years. it's no wonder there is so much misunderstanding between white and black women--they're living in two totally different centuries. this article looks like something out of a 1950s good housekeeping magazine. michelle obama is not a good role model for women! i really hope the obama presidency will allow the black community to get over all of their racial psychosis, get it out of their system, and get up to speed with the modern world. maybe then black women will wake up and realize what white women have been trying to tell them all along--gender, not race, restricts you. 90% of the complaints in this article are due to modern black men's treatment and regard for black women. and yet black women continue to be blindingly loyal to black men because supposedly race is their biggest obstacle. meanwhile, black men are laughing all the way to the presidency. i honestly wish black men would take over all of the u.s. government, not just the presidency, so black women would have no one else to blame, finally see the light, and WAKE UP! maybe then they'll pick the women's rights candidate instead of the man whose wife had to completely suffender her life and career for him and be subjected to diminishing articles like this.
So you are giving Obama a second term already? I certainly have higher hoppes than just to get rid of banner waving articles like this, there are more important things in life to tackle. I agreee with your point about racial psycosis - until everyone stops catagorizing each other on a color wheel, we will make no progress. After that, we all have to just get along - given the opportunity. Women can do almost anything that men can do and vice versa (there are a couple biological issues, admit it). It's just a matter (if we all see eye to eye) of mutually deciding who is going to do what - gee a PARTNESHIP, as in a marraige!. I know of a lot of guys who would prefer to be stay at home dads instead of working. Let the roles switch - I think that the vast majority of the US doesn't really care, as long as we can all be happy and secure. I wish it would be that easy, we both know there are a lot of roadblocks to overcome. My experience with women as the boss is: knowledgeble, but lacking leadership because of insecurity in the role - they ten d to micromannage. We as parents, teachers and leaders/followers need to show confidence in those who we realize can lead - regardless of gender - so they can excell. Those that aspire to leadership roles but can't cut it, must graciously accept a role more suited to their talents, not just push, shove and demand higher positions because of gender equality. I want a leader that can lead, and if there are no women to fill that bill, so be it. When one comes along, it will be her turn.
Skallywag--the reason gender is the most restrictive force in the world is because gender based violence continues to be the largest hate crime violence in the world, affecting 1/3 of the female population globally. we're talking over a billion people. Sexual slavery is now 3 times larger than the black slave trade ever was. Even the United Nations has repeatedly said the the greatest humanitarian crises in the history of the world is hate crimes against women and it is happening right now and has actually gotten worse in the last decade. I'm not talking so much about daily life, opportunities, etc. for American women, I'm talking about real crime and slavery of women. It's the equivalent of the mid-1800s for women around the world in terms of civil rights, they are enduring the equivalent of millions of lynchings as we speak, and I am just expressing my frustration with how many women, including the majority of minority women, who undercut progress in this area by hating on other women (for example, much of the HIllary hating was coming from other women and women of color. Same thing happened to Sarah Palin.) And black women tend to blame everything on the white people, which is particuarly ridiculous for white women, who have done nothing to them especially compared to what black men have done to them. So that's what my point is here. I hope Obama and tons of black men take over government so black women will finally wake up to this issue because gender rights, (actually, all we ask for is gender SAFETY, really) will only make progress if women are united and stop hating on each other.

suck,
There you go again, doing your best to prophesize! Take off your Karnac the Magnificent turban, Johnny C.! You have no more idea of what's going to happen in 2 months let alone 20 years.
I thought that was worth repeating!

I respect and admire Michelle Obama.
One little observation on my way out the door. Republicans are really slow to reply on the blogs. They seem to lack the ability to comment extemporanously (hope I spelled that right). What are they doing/ Researching, going to another link so they can't referrence it, or does it just take them a long time to remember what Hanitty told them to say?
ellenleigh, There will never be another Jackie O! Laura Bush dresses like an old frump. Cindy thinks she's Barbie, not for me. Biden's wife is usually sleeveless. If you want to really insult Micheele, don't use the unattractive and ill dressed line. Most of you Republicans prefer the big teeth line. It's soooo much more intellegent!

OK now. Republicans! Obama won. Get over it. Democrats!. Obama won. Get over yourselves. U.S. citizens lets work together now to solve our problems on Main St., USA instead of relying on Wall St. and D.C. to do it for us.
Are you kidding? You must be new here at Newsweek... lol
I'll say! If he thinks someone would turn to the Republicans that got us into this disaster, he;s gotta be new and naive. In a game where losing isn't an option you go with your best players , not a bunch of GOP hacks that are in the tank for big business.
Republicans got us into this disaster? That means the dems had nothing to do with it. LOL! I gave you a credible link to this, but of course you don't like facts.
Now I can see why you don't like people posting links to substantiate their claims.... you don't bother to read them or if you do, they alter your agenda so you simply disregard the facts.
And by the way, shove your hypocrisy aside for a moment... those Republican "hacks" for the past eight years have had a big hand in helping you to retire very nicely.
Tell me suck, is it fishing or golf today?
Reading this story on Michele Obamaq, I do not view her as a beautiful woman. Yes, well educated on scholarships and grants, she is striking. Her choice of clothes to me are not that of former first ladies. I have never seen a First Lady wear a sleeveless dress or top out in the public, performing view. Sleeveless should be left to a ball gown. She will never be a Jackie O in gracefullness, poise or finesse. Hopefully, she can take some tips from Jill Biden, Laura Bush, Cindy McCain, Condeleeza Rice on how to act and dress befitting of a First Lady for the next four years.
