Why are Pro-Ana sites like a virus?
Okay so you want to tell the world your proud of your ability of control and profound obedience to a strict diet. Well how about when your words get into the wrong hands. How about when you words reach a hopeless and desperate teen that believes it to the extreme... How about when she dies from it... How about her family that loved her... Is she responsible or you? When you promote it, like you do, you are no different than the gun seller, the black market kidknapper, the middleman drug seller. You provide others with harm, and no good can come from it! I love people and it bothers me to think you're spreading a disease that could kill them.

Seek Help! Before you die from a heart attack! This is no passing phase and you will ruin any chance of being able to have children in the future. Anorexics just don't want to grow up, many act like small girls even when they are way past their teen years. They act like preadolecent girls that are silly and self-absorbed with what they do or do not eat. Instead these women need to get professional help and chose to grow up and get married, have babies or go to college and get a career. Being a grown up is not scary, dieing howerver from starvation is very scary and sad. Go on..get the help you need and rejoin the living. Peace be with you.

You're promoting a mental and physical illness. The sites should be shut down immediately.

Eating disorders are filling hospital beds with people who have an 'elective' disorder. Anorexia can and does kill. You might as well be promoting AIDS.

Oh, and yes I have had my share of 'eating difficulties' . So I'm well qualified to speak here. Let's just say I'm well over it. And I could probably snap you're anorexic body in half with my now healthy, strong and vital bod. Just joking here.

Get the help you need anorexics.

I am amazed at how much time people spend obsessing about people who are thinner than they are under the guise of "I'm concerned about her health". Frankly, I am way more concerned about overweight people who are at risk for heart disease (one of the biggest killers of women), diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. I would like to talk to my overweight friends about how I am worried about their health and how they can make some healthy lifestyle changes, but unfortunately in this society that is not within our social norms. It is OK for someone to walk up to a friend and say "You're so skinny I'm worried about you" but not OK to say "You're so fat I'm worried about you". I agree that eating diorders are a problem but obesity is an even bigger problem. Unfortunately, in this country where "fat" is the norm, people who are in shape and at a healthy weight are chastised for not indulging in the "Death by Chocolate" dessert when eating out with friends. I guess it is like my friend told me, "You're 30. You're supposed to be fat like the rest of us". Instead of obsessing about the thinner people in your circle of friends, how about you get off your butt, exercise, and eat a healthy, well balanced diet for a change. Trust me, you will feel so much better about yourself that you won't have to waste your time "worrying" about the thinner people of the world.

i'm a 38 year old woman that struggles every day with several eating disorders sometimes i perge other times i use large amounts of laxitives and sometimes i chew my food and spit it out. there are days i run 8 miles and then go to the gym for 5 hours. I was never like this as a child and young adult I was heavy and it never bothered me and today my sef image is gone. I STARTED loosing weight 4 years ago when at 310lbs. my doc said I was facing high blood pressure and other health related issues. I started walking 2 miles a day and got down from a size 28 to a 12. I t was fine for a while and then I became obsessed, I then moved away from all of my family so I could hide my disease and at 5ft 8in I got down to a size 2. my family then had me put in the hospital against my will and I completed a 3 mounth program. Today I am no better I continue to self distruct I have ruined my kidneys, and my bowl system is all messed up. This lifestyle consumes my everyday life all my thaughts, time with my family is stressed, and my faith in god is not the same. PLESASE do not judge, critisize, or make fun of people with eating disorders. People think this is a choice it is not its like any other obsessive disorder it becomes uncontrollable. I LOVE MY MOM and I I see what my life is doing to her and yet I still can't stop, she is a single mom and she tried so hard to raise me all alone and I feel like such a faailure but my sickness is stronger than my will to get well. Its an awful, awful awy to live.

I wholeheartedly agree with suspark3. With all the freakin' problems in this world, with millions of people starving to death against their will, we have these mentally deficient little attention whores whose focus of the universe is making sure they look "good". Let them starve out. In America, with millions losing their jobs and homes, with major companies going bankrupt, wars abound, the economy is near collapse, if your worst problem is that you don't want to eat, just lay on some train tracks and let a train run over your head. You're pathetic.

How about those people who "want" to eat too much? Or those people who "want" to eat so much salty food that they have high blood pressure? High cholesterol? You're understanding of this is not offensive only because it's intrinsic, amusing, message that people who know nothing are allowed to make such idiots of themselves.

While I agree that there are certainly a lot of serious problems affecting all of us from the economy, wars, and third world countries where people are starving to death, unless and/or until you have a loved one with an eating disorder, please keep your mouth shut! When my daughter was first diagnosed with anorexia, I too though and said the same things "Eat", "Stop starving yourself you can stop if you want to"; then I got educated about the subject. In the begining they may start out to "look good", but then it spirals out of control. Emotionally, those who suffer from eating disorders, their lives are out of control; eating or not eating is the only thing they can control. Unfortunately, by the time anyone notices it is too late and the eating disorder controls them. Eating disorders, whether it be anorexia or bulemia, are mental health issues and diseases and as such they need to be treated medically and psychologically. My daughter is 28 and still suffers from anorexia. It affects not only the patient, but the whole family as well. So please, before you speak, get youself educated about the subject. To all those out there who are dealing with eating disorders and to the families and friends who love them, my thoughts and prayers are with you; may God grant you peace and the strength to deal with and conquer the disorder.

I heard the government is considering a "fat tax" for obese Americans. Maybe they should tax people who are creating these pro-anorexa groups as well. It should be a crime. They are deliberately trying to promote illness,
