The Mayhem in Mumbai

Mr. Zakaria, as always seems to subtly justify the involvement of muslims in any terrorist activity, by using terms such as UNTOLD STORIES, etc. I am from India and has known the country far better than Mr. Zakaria, and have seen the madness upclose. The ruling congress is soft on terrorism, and ofcourse there are always elements in Muslim community, even if its just 1%, which will account to millions of fundamentalists that are bent on destroying anything else thats not MUSLIM in nature. They are bent on destroying Jews, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs...and here we are, closing our eyes to the fact that the root of terrorism is the same country that plays terror games with the money the Americans send!

This interview was a waste of time.

Newsweek, like the New York Times, like the BBC are now determined to present the world with the worst excuses for journalism. Newsweek doesn't even see fit to have the author's name associated with this horribly written article. With Kristol and Sorkin at the NYT's making up their own world of "facts", the BBC's relentless attacks on israel, and Newsweek's continued decline into tabloid hell, they have become irrelevant, and this hopefully will save the world a few trees.

Why there is no word "Jew[ish]" in the whole piece? Doesn't Mr Zakaria see the direct link between the Daniel Pearl murder and this targeting of Habad House? No parallels with the antisemitic militant Islam in both cases, by chance? Maybe for Newsweek, that woul be too strong a case to solve...

Apparently the perception expressed here in by various experts could be absolutely correct, because without methodical planning and thorough training this kind of methodical execution of the mercenary plan could not have been carried out.

Certainly behind this is highly experienced and trained Brains are there who could take care of the minutest details therefore, they could keep the world at tenterhooks for over 36 hours.

The most important factor, which has always been ignored in most such incidents, is WHY and unless we try and find out the root cause we may never be able to root out terrorism from the society. The Gap between the HAVE' s and HAVE NOT' s has been widening at the alarming rate with huge margin not only in India but every where in the World.

Everything is ELITIST in India at least be it Politics & politicians, Bureaucracy & Bureaucrats, Industry & Industrialists, Traders & Businessmen and MNC's/Corporates Top managements & Managers leaving no scope for the common people and people at large. In absence of nothing better to do the youth or for that matter any one who is desperately trying to meet the ends in day to day life can be brainwashed, swayed and or lured for a few Dollars towards the so called lucrative life on the dangerous path and the result is increasing terrorism around the globe.

Particularly in INDIA if you have the Elitist Label you have a license to do anything and get Scot free therefore keeping in view of this Elitist Trade Mark the misguided and deprived people turned terrorist could have come to the conclusion that targeting common people is meaningless and have now targeted the Elitist places frequented by the so called Elite of the Elite of the so called high Society people in India resulting in a severe jolt to the society and the Politicians of the country.

I am very happy that someone could explain at least a little bit about what is happening in Mumbai and the background. I find the mainstream media is good at shooting video and saying the same thing over and over again, but not at giving us the backstory. Thanks Mr. Zakaria.

thats very scary, i was just stayin in the taj not long ago...i know the owner and some of the workers there well...very very sad to see such crimes against humanity..

Not sure about who has done it but seriously it should not affect the muslims residing in INDIA.
The people from outside india just want to create a threat between local civilians so that they start feeling insecure from the ppl living next door.we should surely fight against terror but not by blaming innocence which the terrorist wants us to do!!!!!!!!!

The government of Pakistan requires global support. If there is to be security in Afghanistan and India, it is essential that the Pakistani government be able to exercise a modicum of control over its western provinces, its security forces, and those internally who would attack its cities and those of its neighbors. Hopefully, people will not respond with efforts to weaken the Pakistani government. Its not as if they aren't trying, sometimes at the cost of their own lives.

It was highly expectant of Indians to play the blame game. In the time of crisis, one needs to show responsibility in every step and action. Blaming it all on Pakistan is like the only logic India has, maybe, even influenza is Pakistan's fault. Seriously, grow up! Just because international chains and investments and self-proclaimed future superpower (Read ???White Tiger???) cannot give you the right to bad mouth other countries. All those who believe that Pakistan is responsible should know that my country has lost & losing much more lives in suicidal blasts and the bull *** war on terror then India.
Yet, it is standing and finding its ground rather than playing the blame game like ???Neighboring Country???. It is not Hindus, Muslims or Christians dying in Pakistan, it is PAKISTANI that is dying in here and we realize that fact before anything else. I have Muslim relatives in India who have to paint their walls on every August of 14-15 with Indian flags to avoid the graffiti that says "Go Back to Pakistan".
So, our "Neighboring Country" should come out of their fantasy land "Bollywood" and realize the independence movements going in their own country.

Every time something happens anywhere around the globe ok, point your finger towards the Muslims. Does anyone know the meaning of being a Muslim. Having a Muslim name does not make any person or organization Muslim. Quran says, ???If you kill a single innocent as if you have killed all mankind???. Now can someone tell me where do you find Muslim among the terrorists. Muslim is not a trade name. Like Mr. Zakaria said, I do agree with him. It is a beast unleashed. Who created the beast that is a question? Mujahedeen, made by Americans to fight Soviets now paying the price. Tamil Tigers made by Indians paid and still paying the price.
