Pakistan is like the many headed monster Ravana from the Mahabharata Epic. The heads include the Army, the ISI, the Taliban, the democratically elected government, the judiciary, the nuclear scientists and the heads of various provinces in this fissiparous failed nation state. Every now and then, one of the heads take responsibility and talks reasonably to the outside world. Just when the world begins to believe one head, the others regroup and bite you in the ass. The US realizes this and hopefully Obama will now take them in hand.

Hindu should treat other minority better especially muslim in this country. Actually, morden India is coined by British colonist masters with foundation of harmonization of most of races. To blame her muslim neighbour is a stupid manner refleced Hindu's weak of confidence.

Terrorists are hopeful of starting a nuke war between India and Pakistan. Their credo seems to be: kill them all and let God sort them out..

I doubt the government of Pakistan planned or supported the attacks, but that does not mean that no Pakistanis were involved. And these supporters could have important positions in Pakistan. The world is very close to witnessing a real nuclear exchange that will kill tens of millions even if no one else jumps in. India will suffer greater losses, but Pakistan will cease to exist, therefore it would be wise for the Pakistanis to go all out to crush the terrorists.

Some idiot on CNN offering analysis recently said that India and the world should appease the Muslims. Yeah right!!! Thats what Briton and the world tried to do when Hitler raised his ugly head in Europe. Only later did they realize that no amount of appeasement was enough for Hitler. Ditto for muslims, they will not rest till they convert or destroy the rest of the infidel world.

if you are willing to work hard and have intelligence you will break barrier anywhere in this world. Discrimination doesnt give youa right to kill innocent people. MUSLIMS have known to only one language and that of violence.time for them to behave like human beings.

Lot of incredibly naive people claiming the Indians should negotiate on Kashmir under the threat of a gun as if that is the issue here. People, this is a classic clash of civilizations where one group of Islamo fundamentalists wanting to impose their way of life on other cultures. Maybe America should also negotiate with Osama and the Taliban? Perhaps America can 'come to its senses' as the retired professor below says and put all their women under Burkhas as a concession to prevent future attacks? Maybe Russia should negotiate in Chechyna? Maybe the Australians should say sorry for helping to hang the Bali bombers? Maybe the UK should grant concessions to the 7/11 bombers? Maybe Spain should bow down to the train bombers? Maybe China should 'come to its senses' and have a referendum on Xinjiang province? Maybe Israel should find another homeland?

India doesn???t have any prime ministers executed by military dictators. Whether perfect or not, every Prime Minister of India was elected by a DEMOCRATIC process. Every President of India was duly appointed by process, not take the position by force with the backing of military like some medieval, feudal country, like in Pakistan. Pakistanis, GROW UP.

Forget about uniting Kashmir, first stop your country from crumbling. Pakistan is an embarrassment to Democracy. 4 out of the 9 heads of states since pakistan???s independence were military generals who appointed themselves as presidents. They ruled for 34 of 61 years since independence.

I think international terrorism cannot be stopped till America gives the state of Alaska to Osama Bin Laden to set up an Islamic Emirate. Otherwise the entire world will keep suffering because of the pig-headedness of Americans in not meeting just demands of Muslims of Afghanistan.

Are the regional languages of India -- Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, etc., -- dialects?
Hasn't it been long enough since India stopped being a colony to shed the colonial mindset and ape the Sahib's language?

Yourstruly, why don???t you first concentrate about developing your own crumbling country? Leave Kashmir, first set your own house in order. Yours is a truly incapable country, unable to face the reality of your internal chaos. For how many years since independence, has Pakistan been governed by a dictator? May be the concept of order is alien to Pakistanis. They can???t handle order nor ensure order, in their own country.

The real losers in Kashmir are not Muslims, it???s native Hindus called Kashmiri Pandits. Executions and threats by Muslim extremists have literally driven them completely from their homes to cities all over India. Nobody hears of any Kashmiri Muslim immigration over to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. If they are really being treated so badly, why is there no immigration? If Indian media is being silenced of such news, at least Pakistani media should report, But nobody hears of such thing.

Wow, such an anti-India pro-Pakistan stance -- I thought journalists were all about objectivity? I guess that doesn't apply to the Newsweek anymore, since they have lousy reporters anyway.

But for the record, there is no persecution of Muslims in India -- sure, there are ethnic tensions and fights, but those go both ways.

And secondly, the only reason Kashmir now has a heavy Muslim population is because of the genocide committed by Pakistani militants on the Kashmiri Hindu population.

But don't worry, Mr. Zahid Hussain from Islamabad -- I'm sure you can be expected to provide a very objective and honest opinion on this.

This is not a well researched article. Newsweek should perform stringent due-diligence before allowing such articles. I believe terrorism has no religion and is not just to point fingers against the Pakistan Govt. without any evidence. The writers should not do any wishful thinking at this point of time. I am sure that we Indians (Hindus, Muslims, Christians and all) shall overcome this situation and not let the people who spread hatred win this battle. I am sure the Indian politicians shall also learn from this and stop the finger pointing against each other and work towards a resolution.

I feel that this is not a well researched article and Newsweek should do stringent due-diligence before posting such articles. Being an Indian, I would like to say pointing fingers against the Pakistan Govt is not just at this point of time. I am sure both Indian and Pakistan public would like to live in peace and not terror. I believe, terrorism does not have any religion. Terrorism in India is same as that in Pakistan. We should denounce both of them. And both the Indian & Pakistani govts should work towards resolving it. As regards to life of Muslims in India, I know of many Muslim friends in India who are far educated and well off than me. Yes, poverty is there in India, and poverty also does not have any religion.....you would find poors from all religions. These terrorists are just exploiting the situation to create terror. And amonst the terrorists too, there would be a group of people who give sermons and spread the message of hatred. Such people are the real terrorists, both for India and Pakistan.
