i dont think pakistanis or muslims are the problems. Most of the times the attackers kill randomly so they harm their own people as well. The problem is of course security measures which are not good in India. As an Indian living abroad I get scared for my family back home. But that does not mean that i hate muslims or pakis. I have a lot of friends who belong to both categories. The problems of the world are not caused by hindus. christians or muslims. Its caused by some morons who use religion as their backup for spreading hatred. There are many Hindu morons as well who I dont support though I am a Hindu. But isnt it ironic that the actions of some morons can cause smart, intellligent, sharp people to start hating and doubting each other. I guess that is their final objective.

its stupid to blame pakistanis or muslims because terrorist attackers kill randomly so their own people are also hurt and die. i do blame security measures and as a Indian living away from our parents, its scary when these things happen. the worst thing about the attack is that it creates unnecessary fears. muslims are not to blame for the problems of this world nor christians nor hindus. i would say its morons who use religion as a vehicle to spread their hatred. Please dont think all indians blame or hate pakis or muslims. I am an Indian who has many Pakistani and muslim friends. Its again a very select group of morons who use hinduism as a vehicle of hatred. But isnt it ironic a select group of morons can make smart, intelligent people doubt and hate each other. I guess the objective they try to reach is accomplished when that happens.

HItler was a humanist. America and Bush were the ones defending against these type of attacks, but again, simply anti -religious wannabe utopians will continue to belive that we will have peace on earth while man is plagued by sinful inheritance. No one can see the kingdonm of heaven unless he is born-again.
Trust no one , Obama is going to sympathize with this kind of thing. I'm not sure what everyone is thinking, I guess it was denial and short term memory and a lack of understanding history and the region the article describes. McCain clearly hasd a deeper understanding of these areas. But I guess we will have to make do. The America left is a tyrant, and Hollywood a cult. Wake up America , the cowboys will have to step in again. teach your children well. Please Lord, help us.

I sometimes wonder why Hitler or the nazis were not called 'Christians Crusaders' ? I think the world heads of state and the world and Indian media need to analyze this and see what kicks do these so called Islamic Jihadist get after thay have operated and spread the terror that is reflected on evry tv screen across the globe. If we stop calling them 'Islamic' and 'Jihadist ' would it make a difference? let us see now neihter did christianity preach what Hitler did nor does Islam preach what the terrorists are doing. So if you take away their religious identity and simply call them by their real name that is Satan, Devil and Enemy of Peace, I believe would make some difference. It's atleast worth giving a try.

Personally, I don't think Indians blame the Pakistani ppl or have anything against them. We are both struggling countries trying to get up on our feet. But all Indians are against the extermist terrorist outfits within Pakistan. As Indians we don't get any fun in pointing fingers at Pakistan or Pakistanis. The irony of it all, we all used to be one ppl at one point in time..
We both need to work together to get a hold of these terrosits origanizations working within Pakistan and India and which seem to be hell bent to prevent any form of friendship between the ppl of the two coutries. The war is against them.

Actually I am amused by this so called terrorist specialist who wrote these comments. After spending some 21 years in the American military and having served in a war zone the discussion reminded me more of a "ramble" of disjointed observations, conjectures, and a jumble of facts. There is no sharp analysis of what happened as the investigation to me so far has not been detailed as to the study of "cause" and "effect!" What was the motivation and the objectives of this quasi military operation to simply kill and die? What were they trying to accomplish? Sure this was the economic center of India and perhaps they wished to disrupt the government like what was accomplished by destroying the World Trade Center on 9-11. To me it would have been more effective to attack the stock exchange, a key government building, and other targets that meant more to effect government change. This was indiscriminate and even though passports of both Brits and Americans were requested to single out that group many Indians as well as others were mowed down. Unfortunately like in America all targets of opportunity will now have to have security guards or officers to at least delay or contain any such actions from happening again. Blaming Pakistan is just what these terrorists want. What they are seeking to me is simple-all out war between India and Pakistan. By using terrorists from the border near Kashmir who speak distinctly different from fellow Indians the seed of destruction is planted. Terrorists can be found anywhere and could have come from the heart of India but there was a reason they used this group. With the investigative tools of modern society the identity of these attackers would be know eventually and could never be hidden. There is a hidden agenda that others are missing......the truth is always somewhere it just is a matter of the evidence like the CSI shows pointing the way.....Tragic incident but given the democratic country of India it is easier for terrorists to strike than in more heavily protected countries of that region. Lessons to be learned....

@birdman, I too am amused by your comments.

Sometimes living in country gives you more insight than sitting hundreds of miles away. Pakistan goverment has financially helped and encouraged anti indian activities on it's soil. They are indirectly, if not directly involved. They use weak minds often muslims, provoke them by telling them they are outnumbered, discriminated and brainwash them into training in Pakistan and sending them back to India for anti national activities. Kashmiri Hindus were killed by Muslims and thrown out of their homes in Kashmir. They did not become terrorists and start killing Muslims. Many of Bollywood actors are popular and famous in India and happen to follow the muslim faith.

Let's look at some facts -
Look at Pakistan' complicity in Afghanistan/Taliban and even Al Qaeda?
Look at it's democratic records, assasination of almost all elected leaders till now.
No support or equal treatment of other religions in Pakistan unlike India.

If Indians are blaming Pakistan, stop and think for moment - why? This is not fun game for us to point to Pakistan. Before US got unfortunately involved in Islamic war, Indians were suffering this for years and shouting to the word about Pakistan's low cost proxy war against India.

I do agree to the point that the Indian Navy and coastal security were anything but doing their job. India seems so vulnerable from the sea. The question that arises in my mind is what exactly does the Indian Navy percieve as 'an attack' in this post 9/11 age. when the sole enemy of evrybody on earth are these vicious terrorist? And how much does the govt spend on the navy to be prepared?(wonder for what though!). Is there really a point in sending men on the moon when we don't even have an adequate satellite system to monitor suspicious activity?

The fact that the terrorists had full knowledge of the layout of Tan hotel indicates that these terrorists group was in present in India for quite a long time for survey. Other possibility some terrorits must have been staying in Nariman House on the rental basis. This needs to be enquired.
Dy.C.M. says that our coastal security is weak. Shame. Mumbai is surround by sea and they should have thought of this earlier. After loss of human lives and the police/NSG personnel the Mah. Govt. is now considering to strengthen the coastal security. We become wise after such events. The Govt. lack creative mind.

This happens because "good men do nothing"...Extremists exist only because their neighbors abide. Revolution is coming to us all because we were distracted by our material world and promises of heaven, either on earth or in some afterlife. The more complicated the world the more profound and base is its destruction: it won't take much now.

you make it sound like fighting a terrorist attack is an easy thing. think again...IT'S A TERRORIST ATTACK! no matter where it would have happened it would have be hard to handle!

The tragedy is that so many people died. I just want to let the people of India know that I am so sorry for them, and that I am praying that God will provide help in the identification of the cowards who planned this act, and the ability to track them down and brind them to justice. I also pray that no mistake will be made in that identification so that the innocent will not be lumped in with the guilty.

Well, certainly send them our experts. We were waiting for them on Sept. 11th, and really showed off our state of readiness. What is this guy talking about? Any free nation is going to be vulnerable, because we aren't running around paranoid and shutdown. As for the organization and "sophistication" of the attacks, what a bunch of nonsense. More than a dozen guys with bags of ammo, grenades and explosives. As terrible as it was, they only killed 120 or so people. The guy at Virginia Tech was alone and killed 32 kids, besides himself. Let's put these clowns into perpective. Since 2001, they haven't killed anyone in the US, and have had limited "success" in locations around the world. This situation in India was extremely unfortunate and we all feel for the victims' families. The Indian government may not be as professional and prepared as we in the USA, but at least they didn't let the terrorists take off in the weapons they used.

India troops are very weak in fighting the attacks. They should ask for the help from foreigh countries at the beginning.

I'm not sure why continued violence regarding an issue that was decided years ago between the Pakis and Indians is still an issue...China in Tibet, Pakis still upset about Kashmir, Basque extremists still operating although most want to part of Spain-these are all wasted time by people who only survive because "good men do nothing"...

Its not an Underpoliced society, the topic heading should read" An underscrutinized fanaticism of Islamic Terrorism"

    • Posted By: Impressed citizen @ 11/28/2008 6:35:19 PM

I should even add - The fanaticism of Islamic Terrorism is underestimated! Under whatever gard (so garbage) some "sympathizers justify" it, It should be rooted-out at all costs by all the countries that consider themselves civilized...

Indians are closing eyes of real facts. The ground reality is the recent attrocities in Kashmir and house arrest of peaceful Kashmiri leaders. If you are against terrorism you are also against democratic rights of Kashmiris for their struggle of self determination. If Indians are not allowing peaceful resolutions, they are dragging youths from these supressed areas to terrorism. The terrorist organization always look for angry young men who are ready to die for a cause.

Indian citizens should open their eyes and let Kashmiris chose their future. Pointing fingures on Pakistan is like ignoring real reasons of disease.

    • Posted By: jarcher1 @ 11/28/2008 5:56:17 PM

I guess I'm against the the democratic rights of Kashmiris. How anybody's thinking can become so twisted as to assert terrorism = democratic rights is far beyond my kin. You'll get no sympathy here in the US with a message like yours.
