Despite the bloodshed, India's confidence is already shining through.

Comment: December 3rd to December 14th , 1971 is the time that the Pakistani Army Genocide of the Bangladeshi Muslims came to an end. 3 million Muslims were slaughtered by the Pakistani Army in 1971, historically the biggest genocide of Muslims.
Not very long ago, Indian security force opened fire at the peaceful demonstrators in Kashmir; scores were dead - most western media ignored it. Unfortunately, India hosted Dalai lama and supports his "self-determiation" drive (at least tacitly) and yet refuses to allow Kashmiri to decide their fate. Indians are hardly a West Democracy wannabe; it is not much different from Pakistan since Pakistanis elect their leader by popular votes.
If India mistakes the praise from the West (a result of Washington policy of "containing China") as genuine recognition of its "righteousness" and continue its double-standard domestic and foreign policies, the nation has no future. At any given moment, there are dozens of armed insurgencies going on outside big cities. India will never be a great power despite what neocons said.
wow, you are an idiot
"yet refuses to allow Kashmiri to decide their fate."
Have you ever heard of the elections that take place in Kashmir regularly? NO?
Is there any election in Pakistan occupied Kashmir?
Whoa ChristianAmerican! Your comment achieves no purpose but to exhibit your ignorance. I find your views laughable. India is in fact the underdog that will shine through while the Western media focuses on China.
What armed insurgencies do you speak of? Do you have a single example? All insurgencies in India are terrorism initiated. Remember, Tianenman Square was in China, not India. I suggest you brush up your General KNowledge before you speak, moron
GEneralgenera knowledge before you even comment on the web, you moron
I
He has already provided evidences while you are the one who ignore evidences. If India wants to shine, please just shine. Don't waste your precious time on bluffing "we WILL shine". My dear Indian friends, China has been shining in the past 10 years in economy. Maybe it won't be shining forever, but did you remember Chinese bluffing that "China will shine" ten years ago? That's the root difference between the two countries. A diamond shines because it is a diamond, not because it says itself is a diamond.
Hi Jdwight: You are correct. Adding to your comments - In 1950's India was the first country that supported the Great Lama - India was the first country to signal ending hostilities with Germany after WWII - India was the first country to support UN embargo against South Africa for their support of apartheid and the first counrty to welcome it into the main stream after the release of Mandela - The forgotten story also is how Jews fleeing the Roman persecution were welcome and allowed to practise their faith - Not to mention India was the first country to offer its bases to USAF for strikes against the Talibans after 9/11. So much for the half baked idea by ChristianAmerican of "West viewing everything India from the Chinese prism". India is a 1 billion country that loves its democracy, has one of the most respected military in the region, still is the largest troop contributer to the UN ... If this does not make India great then so shall be it.
Oh, a billion country that loves its democracy where 1/3 its population is in poverty; Oh a respected military whose navy proudly announed "fired to a pirates mothership and sunk it" while left 14 innocent crews dying in the water; Oh a contributer to UN that Africa countries refuse to take any more Indian UN troops bcoz they have been doing sex abuses to local people there. Indians are famous now.
December 3rd 1971- the beginning of the end of the genocide of the Bengali Muslims perpetrated by Pakistani Soldiers. Over 3 million Bengalis were murdered. Let not the world forget.
Saner elements from all over the world will comdemn the darstardly killing of innocent people in Mumbai. This time the terrorists did not indicate any of their agenda and the reason for their brutal act. It is the responsibility of all world powers to act with the Indian Government to investigate, who were those terrorists, what were their indentity and how they could create such an incident. Unfortunately, in this part of the world the investigation is never completed and after a couple of months another new incident put matter in the cold storage. According to the media report, The Chief of Mumbai anti-terror group who was also killed by the terrorists was instrumental in investigating couple of high profile terrorist incidents and for the first time established that some fundamentalist hindu organizations were behind those and couple of high profile people including member of defence force have been implicated there.

Riots in Tibet is "uprising", same things happened in India or US is terrorist attack. The author has underestimated the judgment of the readers in today's world. Can the author explain the difference between uprising and terrorist attack? What a impartial and independent media! Same stuff can be heard on VOA.
Thanks God, this world is not decided by America any more from year 2008.
