did this reviewer ever actually READ the Great Gatsby? Gatsby is supposed to appear aloof--no one is supposed to expect the truth about him. and Daisy is a whiny, annoying socialite.

i think it is rather dubious to call great gatsby a failure on film from any perspective as he seems to be very alive and well in even todays era on dvd
