Thank you lts3232. I'm pretty confident that any woman would be infatuated with him after seeing this movie. Kudos to Mr. Pitt!

Well said tinlousantos. I haven't seen the movie though. But from what I've read here in the comments, it seems very interesting. Unless you're just infatuated with Brad Pitt.

Her name was Daisy. It really does make you reflect on your life and the quality in which you choose to live it. For me, this movie made me realize the value of my children and most especially the good fortune of being able to spend the rest of my existence with the love of my life. I certainly didn't mind the more than 2hrs of the movie because ultimately, I'm a sucker for romantic movies...even when they don't end the way i would like them to.

Am I wrong, or was Blanchett's character named Daisy, not Alice...?

It is really hard to comment on this movie. Despair entwined, hopes following, the main thread keeps you reflecting on your own ways of life. The last scene is formidably amazing...those dream-like flashbacks. What is point of life if you chose not working hard and stepping into the arena of life with your head held high? Observing the leitmotif from this perspective, and from the perspective of we as 'dying men' who should regret our wasted time if possible, this film is ttruly educating.

In a time when there is so much uncertainty in our world this movie was a gift. I enjoyed it from start to finish, The roller coaster of emotions I felt during this film will stay with me for years to come. A lesson taught in a movie is a rare thing these days. I am grateful to have seen it. - Cary Brandt

i thought it wa beutiful story. The hardest thing to watch was when Benjamin is found as a child. It really does make you reflect, and it makes you appreciate your own life. I have two kids a 10 year old and 1 year old. Even though my wife and i have never seperated, seeying my 10 year old now makes me feel like i missed somthing. Holding my baby makes me remember when he was a baby. And I miss i...alot. So holdon to the beuty of life cause it moves on even hough you may not ready to move on. Savor your memories, and enjoy your life because nothing last....

Most boring movie I've ever seen. And the Cate Blanchette played Daisy, not Alice, though I can understand why you might be fuzzy on the details after nearly 3 hours--perhaps you nodded off like I did.

This movie had solid performances by big name stars and was almost 3 hours long, which has "we want an Oscar or Golden Globe" written all over it. I admit it was entertaining, fun, and poignant, but if it beats "Burn After Reading" or "Slumdog Millionaire", I will eat my shoe.

Yes, this movie is very long, but it is a beautiful story. I saw it yesterday and I found myself thinking about "Benjamin" and his plight today. It says a lot about life and how we all age and watch the people we love die. Yet, it's not a movie about self-pity and it's not a depressing story. It's a story that will stay with me for a very long time.

I thought there was much more to this fiilm that suggested in this review. It's not just about mortality and how fast life seems to go by (especially as one gets older) but it makes one think about how are elderly are treated, the handicapped, and the infirm. It made me think about the care and love one gives an infant is not really all that different from how you should love and care for the elderly. I thought it was important to show him at the end as an infant and how Daisy had to care for him the way Queenie cared for him at the start of the film.
I also loved (possibly intentional or not) the little references to other films. I couldn't help but think fo Jaws when they were swimming in the dark of the coast of Florida, or the flash baack scenes from the old woman's memory were very much like Titanic.
Lastly, I loved the lightening strikes. -

Hope there's no tobacco drug use in the movie. Smoking or any other use of the tobacco drug ruins any film!

Or can it be that you ruin a film solely on the fact that people do things you do not like. Your opinion is shortsided and closed minded, furthermore educate yourself about tabacco and the birth of our nation before your next "sermon".

Different strokes for different folks. The Move will indeed win an academy award in some genre. It was a great performance by Pitt and a touching foray into real love between a mother and defective son. A biological father who rues the day he gave his son away in disgust and a romantic love story between unlikely participants. Sort of Gumpish in that you never know what your gonna get in that box of chocolates..

When I was in high school, our school's paper reviewed a film and got a character's name wrong. The reviewer got a stern talking to from the editor and the faculty advisor. Is your editor on vacation this week or do you just disrespect your job and magazine enough not to care?

I never pay attention to reviews of movies by critics because very often they are dead wrong on movies....I mean at least on critic called "Gladiator" the WWF of the Roman Empire and how did that film turn out? I think the criticism of this film is tied to another similar movie many are aware of ..."Forrest Gump". The problem with "Gump" is that the situations and characters do not feel as real as this film "Button", which is a much better film than 3 stars. I think this movie is being unfairly compared to Forrest Gump because Eric Roth wrote both scripts. Movies of this type do take a long time to get started, but I think it would cheapen this movie and Forrest Gump, which also took a long time to get to its ultimate destination. There is one criticism of this movie that I find in retrospect....the sceen where Button has turned into a baby was over the top and unnecessary because it was trying to emphasize the special relationship between Daisy and Benjamin, but it should have stayed where the relationship where it mattered most-Benjamin and Daisy both adults at the height of a great love affair-not degenerate into Daisy the mother and Benjamin the baby. I dont think it will win an oscar because those people cannot pick an oscar winner to save their life.

I have watched many many movies over the years and there is one thin I know about critics of movies is that they dont know what they are talking about as far as what is good and what is not good in a movie. I mean for god sake one critic called "Gladiator" the wwf of the Roman Empire. Did it not win an oscar for best picture? did it Russell Crowe win best actor for that film? I saw "Button" last night and I instantly recongnized the writer of Forrest Gump's style on this film, but this movie is much better because the characters and situations seem far more down to earth and real than Gump's story. As far as the short story by Fitzgerald...dont bother because you will barely recognize that story in this film. I think this film is much better than the critic states because he is judging it against Forrest Gump, which is good but not as good as Button.

My husband and I saw this movie yesterday. It is very long, but worth every minute. It's captivating, interesting and haunting all in one. And like every good movie, it stays with you for some time after it has ended.
One note on this review above, how in the world can a writer get paid for a review on a movie when he can't even quote the correct name of one of the most important characters? That is sad. -

I don't go to the movies often now because of all the junk that is out there. But this movie reminds me of the old Hollywood movies of years past. The cinematography, the score, the costumes, are all sumptuous. And Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton and Cate Blanchett are awesome. This movie has Oscar written all over it. Yes, it is long, but it keeps you
engaged because you really don't know what's going to happen next. I can't wait to read Fitzgerald's original short story. -

I'm wondering how closely this reviewer watched the movie since the review lists one of the lead character's names wrong. Benjamin's love's name was not Alice...it was Daisy. The same Daisy who is the old woman in the hospital dying.
However, in other respects, the review is right on. The movie does take an hour to get going and it is oddly haunting.-

How can you agree with the critic's review at all or even give it merit when he called Daisy Alice? This reviewer has no credibility, and the review is valueless.

Perhaps the reason some had trouble with the length of this movie and the message of love, family, mortality, age-less-ness and aging is the result of a generation of instant messaging people raised unable to sit still for longer than a 30 minute episode of reality TV or write any more detailed and complete sentences than what can fit in their phone text box. Thankfully the movie will be meaningful to those who understand it, and Brad Pitt should be nominated for an oscar for his subtle, haunting performance.

If I ever get married, I hope to one day have kids. If one day, someone should savagely murder my first born, my world will be shattered and I will want to kill this savage with my bare hands. However, if this option is not available, I will be ok with making the criminal watch this movie as retribution.

Just saw the film last night and liked it. It's got some very poignant moments and is a thoughtful reflection on life and love. The aging backwards is an unusual technique but not a distracting one, as some would have us believe, and ultimately the film stays with you, and you leave the theater reflecting on your own mortality, grateful for the time you do have...

More like the Curious Case of Benjamin Gump. Both have silly names, a whimsical element of a feather vs. a hummingbird. An annoying hippy girlfriend who gets sick. An annoying dancer girlfriend who gets hit by a car. Both have a wonderful single mother who dies. Comedic element: life is a box of chocolates, "I've been struck by lightning 7 times." Shrimp boat vs. tug boat. Lt. Dan and the army vs. Captain in the Navy. Running cross country v. motorcycling cross the world. One movie I can't recall all the details, the other, I wish I could forget them. Long, laborious, overly sentimental, implausible, boring.

I have never in my life sat through a more boring (painfully boring) movie in my life. It's absolutely rude and completely unnecessary to ask any audience to sit for 3 hours through such mediocrity. I thought I would pull my hair out. I was with a group and didn't want to appear rude by simply leaving, if I was alone I would have. The idea of someone regressing in years is interesting but unfortunately this movie was ..."the Pitts"!

We just returned from watching it. We found the story line hard to follow. The movie was slow, long and to be quite honest, just plain boring. Pitt has done much better movies, and this will be one he won't want to talk about in six months.

My feeling is, if you haven't seen the movie, frankly shut up. Don't be a moron about how it "looks like it misses the point" if you haven't seen it. I saw the movie this afternoon, and it was fantastic. This is the first movie that I've actually seen in a theater this whole year. It's the first movie that looked more worthy than a DVD rental, and I was right. It was a wonderful movie that will receive many nominations, I'm certain.

It's still just a story where a guy ages backwards, right? I mean what's that different from that piece of crap "Jack" where a kid ages really fast?
The story was amusing, but this movie looks like it totally misses the point. There looks to be very little humor. And where do they get off making this a 3 hour opus? I mean I feel like the kid screaming "The Emperor has no clothes." -

And what's wrong with fairytale cinema? Surely fantasies are what one fantasises?-

I saw a sneak preview of the movie today and I was mostly amazed with the cinematography. The subtle shadows, the "feel" of bygone days. I was also impressed by Benjamin Button's "mother." I think her performance was Oscar-worthy. She gave the best performance of any of the cast, in my opinion. It's going to be a great holiday movie to see. It was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.
