yes there is a situation in Kashmir, yes, our commandos could not flush out the Pakistani terrorists very quickly - but is that the important point here. If the same terrorists were to strike New York or London or Madrid, would we immediately be urging solution to Iraq issue, or giving away half of UK territory to jehadis to placate them?? India is strong and will fight this challenge. we have found much strength internally, and also we have been encouraged by support from all over the world.

    Dear Mr. George

In a time of terrible tragedy inflicted by coward, bigoted, cruel, animal-minded terrorists - you choose to offer advice to India. Yes, sure - India, Indian state, and Indian people have a lot of internal problems. Yes, there is a situtiona

We all grieve and condemn the terrible tragedy that has stuck. we all need to volunteer to help out the victims. The murderers of innocent people need to be bought to justice. It is about time Indian leaders need to grow up and stop blaming Pakistan for their problems and start correcting their own flaws. Following is a must read article from Times of of UK.

India cannot pin all the blame on outsiders
Radical Islamist terrorism has flourished among the sub-continent's seething mixture of racial and religious rivalries

The Government of India according to RESOLUTION 47 (1948) ADOPTED BY THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL AT ITS 286TH MEETING HELD ON 21 APRIL, 1948. (DOCUMENT NO. S/726, DATED THE 21ST APRIL, 1948) was required to hold a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir a Plebiscite Administration on the question of whether the people wanted accession to the State to India or Pakistan.

60 years after that resolution and even after many similar resolutions by UN on Kashmir India because of its enormous military and economic strength vis a vis Pakistan continues to defy this resolution and has failed to take the wishes of the people of the region into account and continues to occupy this land thru brute military force. The number of civilians killed by Indian forces in the past 2 decades is over 100,000.

In hindsight this was a wake up call to cocky Indian commandos who usually view Western counterparts as paper tigers. They need to focus more on training and equipment more than cashing a government check every month. Asking chefs for floor plans shows who stands where! Total lack of planning and the continued laid back approach of the Indian bureaucracy was more shocking than the terrorist attack.

I think the Authors of this article need to check their facts.
    1. The Communist Party of India was started way back in the 1920's and has nothing to do with the current naxal militancy. Please see the link provided by jayesh_g
    2. The ULFA is dead and gone organization. I am from Assam and there are only a few remnants of this organization. Nearly all of the have surrendered and recent bombings are mostly the work of Bodo's and the Muslims from Bangladesh which now account for nearly 40% of the population of Assam

I doubt that the Communist Party is involved in terrorism. It is a recgonized national political party!

I agree with svengali - the right to bear arms should be fundamental.

India is a banana republic which has been very recently converted to a government of the rich, by the rich, corrupt and unscrupulous and for the rich - the corporates, the trading class (banias) and the debauch ruling class. Unless there is a just and equitable system implemented and perceived to be implemented things will go downhill. And, by the way, the chief perpetrator - the British are surprisingly silent and diplomatic.

India needs a constitutional amendment that gives the right to bear arms. The State Police and Central Government have proven their incapability to protect the innocent population. Had some of the victims carried concealed weapons for their protection, they might have been alive today.
