They're kidding right? Maybe I've watched too many nature programs, but that is one of the most rediculously and blatantly untrue statements I've ever heard. Then they say that pigs and dogs don't kill each other for sex. Hahahahahaha! Another good one. OK -- what if pigs and dogs in fact did not kill each other for sex. Firstly, almost every other animal DOES, at least from time to time. Secondly, pigs wallow in their own excrement and dogs eat their own excrement. Are we sure that we want to model our behavior after that of pigs and dogs? What a CROCK!

And by the way, if you had even the slightest clue about the prevalence of rape and the mistreatment of women in war situations, you might have thought twice before typing such a ridiculous title to your article.

The article didn't say women were forced into population control but rather "where women have power over how many children they have". Women have the power to determine their birthrate and their resources. Lastly, I would like to say my father was born in Holland during the German occupancy. His birth did not come during a time of convience or resources. Many women would have aborted their pregnany in a simular situation. But thank God he was born because his life has been a blessing to many.

This was probably true 1000's of years ago, except for nerds vs jocks, but we kill each other over some of the most stupid things. ex; polotics, religion, and heritage.

Even in a "civilized, modernized" world where women "can choose" the birth rate would be just as high as during warfare save for the fact that many choooooosee Abortion or Birthcontrol pills and other contraceptives over giving birth. If you look at the rate of which I'm sure women have sex vs actual reproduction...???? just because there's no war does not mean people aren't "reproducing" they're just not going as far as having the babies >D. And there are other forms of conflict that all-out warfare between nations.

as far as human conflict goes, if you'll study the period between the fall of the roman empire and mid 1500s or so, during the medieval period of time, the upper crust of society pretty much made it their job to make war. they were gentry and knights and noblemen who had to spread their empires and yes, their seed, and that was what they did.. make excuses to go to war to rape and pillage and plunder. That is in part, where they obtain their income -that was their career. After hundreds of years, of consistent war and several recurring crusades of all sorts, there comes.. dun dun dun! the evolution of "Chivalry" . AT THIS TIME there was little ongoing conflict .. but guess what? they keep fighting. The evolution of chivalry comes from the old games of war where, when not in actual war, the knights can still proove their valor by jousting, etc, and beating the crap out of eachother on a game field :) yay. But, allllll of this effort toward impressing the opposite sex oft bent toward adulterous affairs because every woman over age of 13-14 who had begun her cycle and was able to bear children was married off asap... the vast majority of populations at the time were age 22 and under. Most people did not survive past their teens for disease and the like, and if they were at least 14-15 years of age, put em on the battle field and throw them into a trade skill and voila! they're adults now. This is the adult population you're dealing with at this early a time period. Teenage adults. Early twenties adults. Raging hormones!!! come on guys! a entire society practially run by young men who only know how to fight -for survival and for sex, and for money. The mentality of the times because this was the majority of the population had to be completely different.. and very competitive I could imagine, because many did not live through the fighting and disease to see their 40s-50s.
