the bigger you are the harder you fall, it's time to cut the fat, be lean, mean, and become a good company making machine. bring pride back to the work force, ditch the union and all overloading obligations to survive. build good cars and the public will buy them again and again. good luck.

    Saving the big three
In the last election, much was made of Joe the plumber. I feel maybe America forgot, Mike the car salesman. We as patriotic Americans honor all of our veterans Please consider this .When our freedom was in danger in the early years of WWII,the American car companies(The very ones fighting for their survival), retooled their factories, and produced tanks, jeeps, and other military hardware, at a pace never before seen! The industrial output of the "Big Three" won the war for this country, along with Rosie the Riveter, and millions like her. Our industry saved the democracy Franklin Roosevelt called GM the arsenal of democracy.. Now , many say "let the car companies die."Douglas Macarthur once said" Old soldiers never die, they just fade away. Our Biggest veteran..fading away... Congressmen, Senators, ..Please consider this Aid Package carefully, along with the ripple effect the closures would have on the steel, rubber, and transportation industries, touching ery community in our nation..These companies rose to the occasion in our nation's darkest hour. They deserve better! "Veterans Benefits",... if you will. How ironic, should these companies fail, that American car buyers two main choices, would be Japanese or German cars! The very two countries these automotive giants helped to defeat when they threatened our very existence! The third option would be Korean cars. Again a place where American blood has been spilt . The Auto companys saved us.....Lets save them! Should they perish, it wouuld be a shame indeed!......... for more thoughts see http://www.hubpages.com+mike+the+salesman

Like any other proposed solution to a problem that includes massive changes and disruption of the status quo, this "Distilling" idea wil attract lots of prophecies of doom and naysayers. It seems as if many of our existing industries have to change, or perish. When the world went from wooden sailing ships to metal steamships there were many predictions of doom and economic upheaval due to loss of sailor's jobs, family hardship, etc. The same from horse to train and then automobile. We survived, new jobs were found, a rise in living standards brought prosperity, not doom. We are seeing innovation in transportation, the country or group who brings to market the best solution will become one of the economic powerhouses of the future. It's sad to think it might not be America. We need to focus our nation's will on research for alternatives to current electrical production methods and innovative types of transport, on sea, land and air, Detroit, oil companies and utilities have reaped great profits for years, it's time for investment in the future.
if we want our children and grandchildren to live in a country of leaders. Otherwise we will become an uneducated nation of marginal consumers, customers for the products of the new leaders of the world. I pray we wake up in time, I hope it's not too late.

The USA North American Operations (NAO) Automobile Industry GM, Ford and Chrysler have reached the end of its incubation stage of industrialization. They will downsize automobile production, merge, re-tool, design and build new factories and products to house humanity over the entire World. This new Global Industry will be the catalyst that drives our Civilization forward and out of the current Global Economic Crisis. I worked for both General Motors Corporation and Delphi Corporation for 27 years as an assembler, spot-welder, toolmaker journeyman, dimensional control inspector, team instructor, team leader, and machinist. This industry works as a military operation with the ability to correct for errors by using intelligent management, engineers, and organized union labor. Those who think this industry will not survive are mistaken. The planned framework has been in place since 1943 ??? 1945 during World War II in the U.S. Board of Economic Warfare. It is only a matter of when this industry will begin. It will happen as I stated to the President???s Council on Sustainable Development in 1994 at the Labor Department in Washington, D.C., and again to GM Management and the UAW in 1998 during the Industrial dispute that shut-down 25 assembly operations. Now, this industry will negate NAFTA, GATT, and WTO wage disparity. A new Architecture for a new Global Civilization is about to blossom and evolve out of the moribund NAO Auto Industry.

GM & Chrysler are candidates for Chapter 7 ( liquidation ) leaving Ford as the sole survivor via Chapter 11 (re-organization) requiring the Ford Family ( only ones with stock voting rights ) to surrender their hold on Executives and Management and control of the company. A newly re-organized Ford with no-par common stock w/full voting rights, complete house cleaning of top management, and Congressional authorization re -directing a portion of the $25 bil for fuel efficient cars in the form of a $7 bil bridge-loan ( secured by convertible debentures ) and pegging executives salaries to GS rates, CEO max GS15, until the loan was re-paid with interest at 6% might be worth considering. Any bridge-loan would have to include a condition that the borrower shut down production facilities in Mexico and only produce cars in the U.S.
