I thought you were an Indian? Math failure; 1% economic growth correlates to a 1.01 multiplier, while 5% economic growth correlates to a 1.05 multiplier. In this case, 1.05/1.01 is much less than the 5 times you predicted, and the 1.10/1.03 ratio of growth that used to exist between the United States and China.

Coming from one who has studied terrorism both academically and professionally for the last 20 plus years, Bush is getting a "free pass" in his argument that the reason America has not been attacked is due to any action of his. Remember these facts:
-9/11 was carried out by probably only 20 people...do we think that if Al Quaeda wanted to put in 100 more they couldn't have or even haven't?
-UBL is very methodical...rest assured that if he had wanted to attack us again, he could have and would have
--the worst thing, from his perspective, would be to stage another attack and bring the American people back together
-AQ is spending us into oblivion
-Bush created a breeding ground for new terrorists in Iraq

UBL is WINNING the War on Terrorism against the US...with little expenditure, AQ (with the help from the current , inept Administration) has put the US on a war footing, nearly bandrupted us, watched our standing in the rest of the world deteriorate. UBL has stuck to his strategy and played us well. No...we have not been attacked again due to anything the Bush Admisnistration has done; we have not been reattacked because UBL chose not to.

A NEO-CON wrote about this strategy. Why invade Iraq? The truths we seek will come out. Wat don't come out in the wash, comes out in the rinse. That smug, arrogant P.O.S Cheney should be the 1st one in shackles. REPUKES. Almost 5,000 KIA in Iraq. Bush & Co are MURDERERS. Thanx alot for sending us on a mission with no clear objective, you Retards. I voted for OBAMA and so did everyone else I know.

In the history of mankind, civilizations emerged in various parts of the world in various eras which dominated the political social and economical values that they were based upon. All these civilization have one thing in common, they reached an optimum point in delivering to there societies that they had to offer but failed to sustain the progressive graph of their ascent, the reason being that the rulers and torch bearers of these civilization did not inculcate a cohesive social fabric of their heterogeneous societies that they had integrated physically by either force, conquest or missionary works.

To inculcate this cohesiveness within heterogeneous societies it is important for countries like USA to take a strong position on human values rather than economic supremacy. United States still has not lost its position to lead the world. It can change the threats of coming era by adhering to basic Human values that its foundation was built.

At present in this era we are moving ahead in our pursuit of knowledge within our physical universe .Its ever revealing new phenomenon???s and breathtaking new findings both in the far off space and in the depths of our oceans and land, are ever increasing challenges that human being of today is ready to take on.

To sustain this upward progress of present human being we have to look at the probable pitfalls and abyss that this civilization may fall into. Nations in this era posses such weapons that can destroy this world twice over. We have political conflicts in many regions of the world that can cause enormous disability, chaos and disorder if left unattended. We have social injustices in the different parts of world, in the form of Caste in India, Color in West and Creed in China and belief in other parts of world. We have occupation in Palestine, Kashmir which jeopardizes any peace in Middle East and South Asia.

In the name of democracy and freedom, we still persecute our fellow human beings for our vested interests or the interests of few. In the name of religion and national interest and its glory we still instill state terror and non state terror in our fellow human beings and take vengeance on innocent people.

We still have not differentiated between a genuine aspiration of freedom of people and imposition of a school of thought be it economical political or religious through coercion. We have yet not narrowed the gap between the rich and poor. All these are some of the gravest issues that the present civilization has to cope up with and resolve, if mankind has to realize the dreams that it is capable of on this planet and beyond.

These issues are not country specific or nation specific, these are global issues and need to be dealt with unified institutions of nations and countries globally.

I have to tell you it's not a good morning for the GOP party of hate. I was mistaken when I said the Republican roles dwindled by 47,000 registered voters since 2007. it turns out it is 147,000 nation wide. In Florida the rolls shrunk by 30,000 while Democrat and Independent registration went through the roof., mostly spurred by the Hispanic communities. I know I said they would be able to hold their 2020 national convention in a Louisana Piggly Wiggly parking lot. I may have misspoken. Now they can hold it there without hampering Piggly Wiggly's drive thru business.

Fareed Zakaria's analysis of growth rates is flawed and arrives at the wrong conclusion. If China's economy grows by 9 percent, and the United States' by 3 percent, then China's is 1.09 times larger and the United States' is 1.03 larger. Dividing 1.09 by 1.03, we find that China is growing about 1.058 times faster than the United States. Assuming the US GDP is 4.21 times as large as China's now, it will take about 25 years for China's GDP to catch up. If the rates change to 5 and 1 percent, then China will only be growing about 1.040 times faster than the United States, and will take about 37 years to catch up.

  • Posted By: M City John @ 12/09/2008 8:53:14 AM

Fareed Zakaria is an excellent writer and often makes many good points. It is obvious, however, that mathematics is not is forte. When he writes that "For the next few years, American growth will likely be 1 percent and China's, by the most conservative estimates, 5 percent. So, China was growing three times as fast as the United States but will now grow five times as fast, which only brings closer the date when the Chinese economy will equal in size that of the United States." he is just plain wrong. A better, though still flawed, measure is the differnce in growth rates, not the ratio. Consider for instance if the US growth rate is 0% and China's growth rate is 1%. The ratio is infinite, yet the 1% difference shows that it would take a very long time for China to overtake the US.

"Let's not forget, what exactly at democrat Vudro Wilson of the USA have entered the First world war. The democrat Franklin Roosevelt was the initiator of the introduction of America in war with the hitlerite Europe, democrat Harry Truman has dumped nuclear bombs on the Japanese cities, and very visible democrat John Kennedi has finished the world to « the Caribbean crisis ». Democrat Lindon Johnson has begun war in Vietnam, and democrat Bill Clinton bombed Yugoslavia.

So will not be surprising if the democrat Barrack Obama will continue nice tradition of the predecessors. As it meanwhile does not have other output. To carry out the social reforms promised to it in conditions of an economic crisis all it is equally impossible ??? and war in fact it not only mixture for economy, but also opium for the angry voters."

Trouble, trouble to America from political elites. There is in Russia such proverb " the Trouble from mind ". And so it now an image of the American policy. From extreme cunning and mind, together with cynicism the cocktail of all speeches and actions on a political floor of Washington has turned out. It brought though any advantage of America, widely eyes of all world however have opened. All have clearly understood already enough, than America breathes in the world. Remains some ally of the devoted USA who simply has no place to go. And to live independently they are not able. Here they also should choose stones more finely on which they fly together with the USA from tops to a precipice.
    Why a trouble from mind?
    Let's discuss.
So, Iraq. It is quite obvious, that this war is an invention in interests of oil and military-technical elite of the USA which have helped to be selected Bush twice in an aura of presidency. And they, certainly, got for it of hundred billions. Oil has risen then in the price, deposits of easy extraction became an ancestral lands of the American oilmen, the charge of an ammunition and military technics became huge, as has claimed the same large state order for arms in some exclusive companies of the USA. They have achieved the, but that America has received. Let's count. And have received, probably, not less billion person on all planet which have taken a dislike to America strong. Certainly, this hatred or dislike is difficult for transferring to monetary figures, but all the same to count up it is possible. These people in relation to the USA in long-term in the life will influence negatively at a microlevel. Someone will refuse purchase of the American products, someone will draw caricatures on aggression of the USA, someone will not go and the USA, someone held a high post somewhere in the country will refuse rapproachements from the USA in favour of other states, someone to bank of "coca-cola" will count as drink of sinners from a hell, someone even will lift the weapon or will be engaged in criminal activity, harming to America, someone will be simple to abuse America or to sneer above it, and here then the damage can exceed some billions dollars. And, it so is volumetric and is imperceptible what to be reflected on America as turn of inexplicable failures, irrational bad luck.

Could the US hypocrisy towards narcotics trade, illegal weapons trade, piracy and terrorism, change? The one who campaigns to become president is a different person than the one who assumes office. The US policy makers still see the world with a "socialist-threat" paranoia. The US is friends with Saudi Arabia, where women do not have equal citizen/human rights and they have strangulated the Cubans into extreme poverty.

There is really no room for you to talk if you support the rhetoric of the GOP. Obviously you don't see an issue with the last 8 years of "no accountabilty" and "no credibility" and the fuking mess we are in. If you are a Bush supported you have no credibility. It is such a flagrant disregard and a state of denial that leads people to spout this crp. If you want to call holding people accountable through intelligent regulations with teeth socialism, then I am a socialist.

      What a fuking joke!
