Don't be bothered by foul language. It's part of the culture, like it or not. reacting to it only escalates it. Think of how many places you couldn't go, movies you couldn't see. You couldn't warch the Sopranos or Robin williams or chris Rock. on HBO. Get over it guys. I know we've got time on our hands now that the GOP party of hate has withered and died and the Republicans are scarce but worrying about dirty words is a waste of it. Don't let a feeble minded mouth-breather affect you.

There are maybe a couple of dozen or so posters that i pretty well know and I would be alerted if they did a 180. There are plenty more that I wouldn't. Let's say 40YearsR went off on me for beating up un republicans. how would I know if I pushed him too far or an imposter was using his handle to sow discontent.. Is he real or just a provocateur trying to stir the pot. It should be enough for those of us not playing that game to know that any comment would be directed toward the phony. If anyone feels it necessary, it's easy to change handles.

I am really annoyed by articles like "How to Fix the World," featured on the cover of your December 8th edition of Newsweek. I have subscribed to Newsweek for decades to enjoy reporting on world news. Lately however the magazine seems to focus on giving advice. No offense Fareed, but what are your qualifications to advise the world on political issues? If you're so qualified, why isn't Obama recruiting you? I think Newsweek should stick to its knitting. There's nothing undignified about thorough and timely reporting.

Leave Rocky alone. It's a free country. He no different than holyroller. Neither are actually trying to make a point. They just want to get some reaction, and they are doing a pretty good job of it. As scarce as the GOPers got here, we need someone to play with. As long as the message gets out that the GOP has withered and dies, who cares who aids and abets us? I don't consider either as a spokesman for the GOP. They are way to out in the open to be one of those sneaky hate mongers. . As far as using my house for the 2020 Republican Party of Hate National Convention, I'd have to charge a little more if they plan on using the Lake or the Pool. Other than that, I've certainly got pleanty of room for the few attendees. If rocky was comment on the Fox Blog, he's be harassing the Republicans. Now you can see why i use Repubssuck. when I get a reply they have to say Rebublicans suck. Ole Rocky may have added a little something to my handle but the message is still conveyed.

And that's why rocky is ok with me. I just got another chance to take a shot at the GOP party of hate and one of their mouth-breathing spokemen. Life is good and God is Good. I'm out ,time to decorate.

As an ex-long-term registered Republican I think about what happened to turn me around to become a confirmed Independent who actually voted Democratic in the last three presidential elections. I literally hadn???t voted for a Democratic presidential candidate since JFK but also I never voted for Nixon, abstaining then, so probably I???d be considered as always having been an Independent leaning Republican. Last night I had a conversation with a really close and good friend who is a strong, unwavering Republican, who obviously was greatly disappointed that Barack Obama had won, and it made me again think about what changed my thinking. I still believe in the Republican principals that the least amount of government is the best government and that government should only do for the people that which they can???t do for themselves but I also recognize that inherent in that are the real and necessary responsibilities to protect the people from exploitation by the powerful few and to insure fair and equitable opportunity for all (not just for the few) and in my opinion you can add that government has the strong responsibility to be both honest and transparent. Those responsibilities, each and every one of them, as I see it, are where the Republican Party currently fails to adequately perform and to even honestly care. GWBush, DCheney, KRove, CRice, many others and obviously including SPalin and even JMcCain, who actually changed to conform, are all examples of those who display cavalier attitudes that totally confirm the problem. To me, two characteristics stand out that explain it: Their attitude ??? they arrogantly and belligerently think they are right in everything and can just do whatever they want, expecting that if they need to, they will just boldly offer subterfuge to manipulate public opinion; and Their focus ??? they irresponsibly concentrate on benefiting Special Interests and a select few, who provide them overt and covert support, contributions and promised after office compensation, while they give the average American only apathy, the costs and deceptive rhetoric, including appeals to individual biases aimed just to manipulate. Barack Obama has proven that a more centrist and moderate position, honestly focused on all of the people and presented with respect, can not only appeal to the people but it can also solicit the required support. Hopefully the Republicans will learn from that and cease selling themselves and their focus to Special Interests and a select few so we can once again have a competitive choice for fairly representing all of the people. It isn???t about conservative v liberal, it is about responsibility and honesty; it isn???t about Republican v Democrat, it is about integrity and character; it isn???t about being manipulated by appeals to limited issues, it is about recognizing the need to be effective for all Americans.

Under the high growth scenario, China is gaining on us at (1.09/1.03), or just below 1.06 per year.

Under the new low growth scenario, the gain is (1.05/1.01), or just below 1.04 per year.

Not sure what numbers ot use, but I've seen estimates that the US economy is about 4 times the size of China's. I know in terms of GDP, that's fairly close. Not sure on GNP, or any other measures you might want to use.

But anyway, lets call the value of China's economy 1, and the US economy 4. The number of years ot equality in econimic size is x. The formula is then:

1 * (1.09^x) = 4 * (1.03^x)

Simplify and you get:

(1.09^x) / (1.03^x) = 4

Simplify again, and round 1.09/1.03 to 1.06, and get:

1.06^x = 4

The rule of 72 says it takes 12 years to double at 6% interest.... 24 years to quadruple.
In the high growth example, if the US economy is currently 4 times the size of China's it will take 24 years for China to catch up.

WIth today's new low growth estimate, same math:

1 * (1.05^x) = 4 * (1.01^x)

(1.05^x) / (1.01^x) = 4

1.04^x = 4

Rule of 72 says 18 years to double, 36 years to quadruple.

Current low growth estimates buy us another decade or so before China's economy is as large as the US economy.
