In this case Shewardnadze sould be better to kill BEFORE 90'ies when he was Foreign Minister of USSR. - no problem, a terrible KGB, KPSS etc. It seems that your mantra is such as old vinil disk (I think that you are too young - before flash and CD players were a big vinil disks players which sometimes produced discontinuos musical "loop" :)

There are only two choices, cooperation with Russia in the same period, or with Russia.
If someone's brains have been washed, so the Western people. I live in Finland, and I read both Western and Russian media. And I say, "if you do not know Russian-thou you are not a free man, but a western propaganda product."

Dear sirs! If you do not know foreign languages, but wish to know other opinion - use program PROMT translator. Citizens of the USA can esteem however BBC.

NATO doors are open to any country (including Russia). I have heard that from US officials a few times. A couple months ago, Rice repeated this again. However, requirements for joining NATO must be the same for Russia.
Never since collapse of Soviet Union, has Russia showed its commitment to democracy or rule of law. Eltsin instigated 3 wars in Georgia in early nineties. Eltsin's Russia attempted to kill the president of Georgia (Shevardnadze) twice. Eltsin started the first Chechen war.
Putin went far beyond Eltsin - the Second Chechen war (and hundreds of thousands civilan Chechen casualties), intimidation and murder of journalists, violent handling of discontent, ignoring of basic human rights and civil liberties, suppression of independent media and political opposition. Offering Russia NATO membership is not only dangerous, but immoral.
The argument about braking promises not to expand NATO is Russia's lame attempt to stop evolution of democracy in former USSR. It is democracy in its "backyard" that Russian leadership really fears. Democracy in Georgia and Ukraine will one day spread to Russia. This means that Putin won't be able to hand-pick his successor or continue doing whatever he likes to do. Brainwashed public absorbs everything that state-controlled media says.
Supporting democracy within Russia and in former Soviet states, accepting into NATO those who made significant progress is the right solution to prevent Russia's further aggression.

Don't say nonsense. Shevardnadze was friend of Eltsin and Russia, unlike current idiot. The rest is true, except that Georgia i snot better than Russia.

Why you such malicious? We that were at war with each other? Now it is better than the relation of Russia and Germany than with USA. Correctly say that the old enemy is better than the new friend.

America want to spread democracy? Russia should not trust America!
A coup in Georgia and Ukraine is not democracy
Pressuring Ukraine into NATO when 75% of Ukrainians want nothing to do with NATO is not democracy
Destroying Yugoslavia and bombing Serbia for 78 days is not democracy
America placing missiles on the Russian border despite the opposition of the Czech people is not democracy

I think that countries like US, UK want to destroy Russia. And NATO is a part of The Big Game. And people should understand, The way which we go is a way of war. There are a lot of militarists from each side. In the media often writes about freedom of speech in Russia. However, unlike the Americans and the British, many people in Russia read the foreign press and I always can watch CNN and BBC .It's interesting to watch - Russian channel - Georgia attacked a Osetia by killing Russian peacekeepers, includes CNN - and then the whole screen-hot news- Russia bombed Tbilisi.
Its a very dangerous game. Dear democrats- be carefully, because unlike Iraq, Russia has weapons of mass destruction.

Do you see my point about similarities with Iran? The same paranoja, the same hate, and you can understand why Iran wants nuclear bomb. Why in the world USA an UK want to destroy you, Victor??? You are poisoned by your own hate.
One think you are right, it was outrageous pro-Georgian propaganda here, USA democracy is not perfect, but those were only words.

"Making Georgia a member would mean that we'd have to come to the country's aid should fighting with Russia break out once more."
"At the same time, the West should renew its security cooperation with Russia."
DEAR PROFESSOR!!! Do you really think that the Russians are idiots???

Why do you think Russia is better than Iran? Both of these two countries pretend to be democracies (like "free" elections, whith ability, beyond others, to block any candidate), both are exporting only raw materials, both with "big satan" theories, etc. So, the best solution is to Iran in NATO?
