Do you know what the real problem is? It has no effect on the oil supply going to our fine nation. That's why we do nothing because everything else to us is considered a low priority. If we were really the police we wouldn't allow millions to be killed in Darfur. Oh ya I forgot, there is no oil or U.S. interests there, why should we care!

First off, nothing is ever that easy!!! Secondly, people all over the world hate Americans because we get too involved in other countries affairs. We aren't even that close geographically to Somalia. It makes no since for us to tackle this when several countries closer would be much better equipped. Why are people calling for us to fix this problem?!?

Arm a few people on all the large cargo ships with a long range .50 cal rifles... trained individuals. If the ship is shadowed or approached.. fire a warning shot.. a tracer. If the ship continues to approace. Unleash Hell! With the range of a .50 cal and a knowledgable person at the trigger the pirates will not be in range to damage the ship, much less take it hostage. For the right price. I'd do it!

I???ve got news for you, he is just another politician who made political promises he can???t keep to get into office. No big surprise. He appointed Hilary to secretary, why, because her husband was a past President and she did Obama favors, why, because her husband made a bunch of promises he couldn???t keep. I recall Bill was going to be the Education President as he said at the debate between himself, Bush and Perot. No change in education due to Clinton. Then he was going to change our health care system. Well, at least he tried. I think Obama has bit off way more than he can chew. If he does solve all our problems then he must be Santa.

Perhaps an old solution might be best. The U.N. Security Council might assign Somalia to one of its members as a protectorate. I have some ideas about exactly which nation should be awarded this "prize," but I don't want a firestorm to interfere with the initial idea. So let's have the basic idea - Somailia as a protectorate - just simmer away.

The U.S. military showed us their prowess with the "Shock and Awe" campaign on a country that posed zero threat and had done nothing to provoke such an attack, yet we are afraid to provoke public anger for doing the same to a bunch of seaborne thugs who do pose a threat to all that pass through the Strait? I don't get it. An air and sea campaign leveling the ports and the coastal towns would end piracy without any casualties to our troops. If they can protect us from this type of threat, then why have a military at all?
