I just bet money that Arian Campo-Flores was molested at one time in his/her life, can't tell with that name. Which is probably true. Confess you like same sex because you were molested as a child.

No homosexuals & pedophile have the same mental problem, that's right you were molested by an adult at one time in your life or either by a pedophile. Until you come to grips with your mental problem of wanting sex with a same sex homosapien, you will never live a normal fruitful life. Plus God will never forgive these kind of mentally ill acts, remember sodom & gomorrah. That's a fact.
Newsweek is so transparent. Your liberal agenda is front and center. Gay marriage was just voted on a few weeks ago and it lost. You are going to tell me people have done a 180 in that time. Yea, right.
I know many gays that aren't that preoccupied or not at all with marriage. Now, I dont care about Newsweek polling and medias views...when its all said and done...the fact is that when the same sex marriage proposal goes to the ballot ...IT LOSES.... In states where from the outside at least appeared to be ripe for radical social change the voting has been overwhelmingly for heterosexual marriage as THE marriage. I believe gay activism is hurting that community by insisting in this issue. They have the right to formulate a proposal then have the people vote in favor or against. Now, when the same activist organizations try by legal fiat and maneuvering to evade the will of the people and have gay marriage land by default on society. Gay activism: move away from radical agendas.
The government should have no place denying or approving the union of anyone, so long as they are citizens and not related by blood. To do otherwise is discriminatory and therefore unconstitutional. The important distinction in my argument compared to some is that I think all government sanctioned unions should be civil unions. Marriage should still exist and be a completely separate thing from the union which grants tax breaks and legal rights over ones spouse. Let the various faiths discriminate their little hearts out in their services which are completely unrelated to the legal ceremony. Let them deny services to gays, people of other faiths, one-armed albinos or whoever. And the rest of us will still be able to enjoy the benefits of our unions. The constitution is pretty clear about keeping church and state separate. The founding fathers didn't consider the notion of tax benefits and all that other stuff, but if they had I believe they would have written in the idea of secular civil unions from go.
Anti-gay all the way !!!
jfrank, and by then the rapture will have taken place and then who'll be scared? Take note..This is the beauty of it.
jfranksocal please wait until I die to live the gay way that way I won't have to read or listen to this garbage for at least another 25 years.
Crime is also up. Do we need to legalize it? Newsweek, get over it!

I'm sure between parenting and our catholic beliefs that all my children will make the right choice in life which is the ony legal choice and marry the opposite sex and have children. I will always teach my children that same sex relationships are WRONG and UNACCEPTABLE. Our parenting skills worked with our 23 yr old son and I am sure 100% that my two daughters will make the choice in life. I have no attitude about your choices in life. You can sleep with a cow, horse, dog or the same sex if you thats what you want. I am telling you that I will not support your life style and help you pass laws which allow you to marry the same sex. It really sounds like a turnaround from the 80's Gay bashing. Now Gays are bashing us normal people because we won't support laws for same sex marriage. My nephew is gay and was ashamed to tell me about it. I found out through his sister and I told him that he is still my nephew, I don't support that life style but nevertheless we are still family. We just agreed not to talk about it anymore and he will not bring his boyfriend around me and my family. Thats respect for my beliefs and his also.
bdsleepy If your children turn out to be heterosexual, then it surely won't be because you brought them up to be strraight, it will be entirely because they are naturally heterosexual. I was brought up to be straighter than straight yet I am not sexually attracted to females. Never have been.
LIkewise, if your children marry and have kids, I sincerely hope for all their sakes, that it will be love that drives this, and not parental bullying.
No wonder your nephew was ashamed to tell you he is gay, with your attitude, i am surprised he still talks to you. If my parents had not accepted me forty years ago when they found out I am homosexual, I would have had no choice but to never speak to them again. Loss of love from the parents does not turn someone straight, I can assure you. Nor does bullying, evangelising, criticising. You don't like homosexualty, that is plain, but like it or not, we are a fact of life.
I am certainly not interested in sleeping with a horse, a dog or a cow. Never have been.
Nice job Michael that mean tiger wants to stand me up in front of a firing squad. I bet he is 18-22 yrs old and has big problems at home work or school. I read alot of these comments and have to laugh. I visited Amsterdam in August (Gay capitol of the world) and maybe some of these people should consider relocating to Amsterdam.
Who's the true closedminded one?.. umm Straight hateful religious freak who feel as though they have the god damn right to SHOVE their beliefs down other peoples throats.. Hell you people can believe whatever the hell you want but what you dont have the right to do is take away the rights of law abiding tax paying citizens simply because YOU dont agree with what they do.. first of all who in the hell are YOU to judge what anyone else does.. Noone is attempting to SHOVE anything down your throats .. they are simply fighting for their f*ckin rights. which by the way is something that they shouldnt even HAVE to fight for in the land of the so called free.. you want them to stop SHOVING their agenda down your throats then i would appreciate it if you and your crazy overbearing religious friends would extend the same courtesy.Oh and as far as marriage.. it was NEVER about love or bringing children into this world..it was about Property and ownership..and guess who the property was?... WOMEN...it was based in SEXISM from the very start...i suggest you do your research before you attempt to justify your ignorance....marriage between and man and a woman makes me laugh.. PALEASE... and to think women actually buy into that BS.
Hey tiger lilly, u sure talk about shoving things down ur throat, lolol. No one can mistake you for a straight person, lolol. The only shoving here is idiots like you "The Minority" who want to impose their "LIFESTYLE" on us. Since when does the MINORITY RULE??? lolol. U seem like a very little angry person. lol Maybe one day you will feel some peace : ) Then again,
dwmusic - beautifully written and right on.
I am the single mother of two teenage girls. They were raised to understand that hate is the worst sin. Love is the greatest joy. We are fortunate to live on Cape Cod in MA. They have known many wonderful, free thinking adults through their lives - gay & straight. Their high school is a model of gay / straight alliance. We all cheered when MA voted in gay marriage rights. I personally know many people involved in that first battle. It is a ludicrous notion that all people cannot have the same rights and benefits if they choose to marry. Who anyone chooses to marry is only their own choice, not government, not any church and certainly not any group of narrow minded, poster holding, haters. I may not have made great choices all through life as we all stumble through it, but at least my children know they will always be respected and loved and all I want for them in life is love and happiness.
Well, let'em marry, who cares?!? BUT....I am convinced that a LARGE part of their desire for this is FINANCIAL! Marrieds pay a LOT less income tax than singles! Just a pure fact. So now, IF these people are allowed to "Marry", and collect the financial benefits of taxing laws, then why shouldn't natural couples, a man and woman, have the same benefit if they are "Life Partners"? That means co habiting together, having wills, naming one another as beneficiaries, Medical Powers of Attorney naming the other, Durable Powers of Attorney to conduct business for one another? It seems only logical that this be the accompanying step. Will it happen ?, not likely because the people who make the laws have about as much common sense as a SLUG!
Just to get this understood. There's a groundswell of support, yet California the most liberal state in the union voted down gay marriage not once, but twice. It's the liberal courts and the gay community acting like spoiled little children that doesn't understand the voting system where the majority rules. If the vote had gone the other way, so be it. That's the will of the majoity.
squirrelie q You are right, we have to accept the will of the majority, that is the way democracy works. Even a president elected by a minority of the electorate can rule if he/she get the Electoral College votes. Everyone accepts this, because it is a system that has proven value. Decisions of great moment are not taken lightly, and it behoves anyone seeking change to convince the electorate of the need for that change. As you would be well aware, this has happened in the past, where activists were trying to convince the electorate of the validity of giving women the vote, of freeing blacks from slavery. Nowadays, it seems incredible to us that anyone believed in the past that it was morally justifiable to practise slavery, or to disenfranchise half of the population from the popular vote, but the change in public attitude was brought about by rational argument, debate and eventually, reason prevailed. By the same process, we no longer lock up homosexuals for having a consenting sexual relationship with another adult person of the same gender, as was once the case.
Public education was what shifted public attitudes then, and it is what will shift them now. If we fail to win over the public, as we clearly did with Proposition 8, then we have a perfect right to have another go, and to keep having another go. We may die before we succeed, but like you, we accept that in a democracy, that is the only way to prevail. We are not interested in forcing this on the electorate at the point of the gun, because we would not have won the hearts and the minds of the people. As has been proven time and again, such a totalitarian regime is doomed from the start.
We may well never succeed in convincing the general public of our probity and may never persuade you that we should have equal rights for equal taxes, but don't knock us for having a go. If something was this important to you, I am sure you would not just lie down and play dead. As for me, I listen to arguments for and against and make up my own mind, each and every time.
squirrelie q I was under the impression we had a constitution in order to make sure that the "majority" didn't get to vote against a minority. Under your belief system women and african americans would still not be able to vote.
Never was Never shall be. Go back in the closet or better yet the basement. I will not allow my children to see or think that same sex relationships are OK.
bdsleepy With your attitude, if any of your kids turns out to be homosexual, they may well become so depressed they will suicide. Gay kids suicide at 6 times the national rate because of rejection and disenfranchisement by their peer group, their church, their schools and worst of all, their families. If you accepted and loved a gay child, they would not do this. The family should be a fortress against hatreds.
Don't think you can "bring up your kids to be heterosexual" -I was brought up as straight as a toothpick. My parents are heterosexual, as are all my siblings and cousins, my church taught only heterosexuality as a possible relationship, all the movies I watched had hetero relationships. At no point in my childhood was I exposed to homosexuality. None. One day, as happens for all teenagers, I started to become sexually aware. Of Men. It is to a male and a male only that I have ever had any sexual attraction. It would have been a thousand times more convenient for it to have been female, because then I would have fitted into the box, but it wasn't. I won't waste valuable space here with the minutiae of all the things I went through, including my own suicide, from which I incredibly recovered, albeit substantially disabled, but let me tell you this, you cannot judge others unless you have walked a mile in their mocassins.
If your child grows up and loves somebody, and that somebody loves them back, that is the greatest happiness they might know. Don't rob them of that, or you may one day find yourself without their love, and possibly without theiir life as well.
It was through my own suicide that my parents became aware of my homosexualty. Now, two generations later, I have learned to accept and value myself as I am. Fortunately for me, I live in an age where it is possible at last to do this with the love and support of family, friends and peers.
contrary to popular belief, at least on this board, there have been gay marriages in the past most notably in the American Indian community where "twospirits" or people with conflicting sex and gender roles were common, accepted, and allowed to marry members of the same sex in most tribes
Thats right I stand behind my religion (Catholic) and will raise my children according to my religion. Same sex issues will never get my vote or support. As for property and ownership !!! how about a WILL or General Power of Attorney ??? They work just as well as all other laws. Do what you want to do and be with who you want to be, but don't expect the majority of us Americans to support you and your ignorance.
BDSLEEPY.. you are a complete idiot... people like you should be lined upandshot..i feel sorry for your children.. simply for having an ignorant parent.. i wonder what you would do if your child came to you and said that he or she was gay.. i can bet almost without a doubt that you would throw him/her away like garbage..when in fact YOU are the garbage... Pathetic.. do yourself a favor and grow up!
