A Gay Marriage Surge

Are we still talking about this??? With the big three automakers on the verge of collapse, millions of jobs being lost or going oversees, banks failing, a war in progress, the housing market failing, etc... we are still discussing homosexual marriage? Is the news media wacko or what? If people want to live that bizzaro lifestyle, they could pretent to be anything they like. I recall a vote was taken, and the majority of the people spoke. If it went in the other direction, the vote would have been A. O. K. but since it didn't, the other side doesn't think it is important. A phoney marriage licence won't change a thing. Most people don't hate homosexuals, they just want to live in a society that is at least sub-normal. Changing a solid foundational principal of moral society just because people want to expore every avenue of perversion is in the outer limits from any rational point of view. To those who say homosexuality is about companionship seem to forget that this is entirely two separate issues. This isn't about rights to practice homosexuality. It is about redefining marriage because homosexuals want to make the lifestyle acceptable. It will never be acceptable in a society with morals and accountability to a righteous God who wants His creation to be have "power, love, and a sound mind. " People can do as they please, but others are under no obligation to approve of it. This is our rights....

I am straight, Heterosexual. If or when they allow gays to get married i will still be straight. The religious community beleives that if you legalize gay marriage that everyone will want to be gay. I have to tell the religious right that there fears are unfounded. Children will have plenty of male and female role models. I keep reading these arguments and it feels like everyone that is a christian must be secretly gay because there fear is that everyone will turn gay if they allow gay marriage. Society will fall apart and no one will have babies anymore. This is just so stupid. Unless everyone that goes to church secretly is gay .
I will say that i have two kids ( boys) and if one of them turns out to be gay i do not want them to live in fear or grow up in a world that will descriminate against them. I do not want the mentality that they are bad and the reason for societys ills. It will be the overpopulation of this world that will end us and take down society. Not gays.
Speaking or morality under this adminitration has been a strong argument that capitalism is imoral. I have never seen so many professed christians act so immoral. Our nation is a wreak and it was the hetero population that did it.

The question is: is it moral for a majority to deny a minority group's rights? If a majority of voters ruled that heterosexual couples should not be able to marry, would that be acceptable? If a majority of voters ruled that all white people should not be able to marry anyone of another race, would that be acceptable? Should black people not be able to sit in the front of the bus? Does this proposition remind you of anything? Because to me it reminds me of the same racist, unequal, and discriminatory tactics that Americans have been using for years to justify punishing people who are different from them or that they don't understand. GROW UP AMERICA! Learn to get along with one another, and accept people for who they are, because it is not a person's fault that they are born gay or that they love another of the same sex. However, it is a person's fault if he decides to be hateful and harmful to people that he doesn't even know. Focus on your own family and stop trying to destroy someone else's!

I'm personally very happy to see comments like those of STANDUPFORTRUTH, Americana, mtaylorgo, and bsdad3 posted here. The unbridled hate and disdain toward gays seen in these messages only helps bring reasonable Americans who are undecided or not 100% comfortable with gay marriage to our side; they just don't want to be associated with this kind of hate. Please keep up the good work.

So what is the difference between Gays being able to "marry" and Gays being able to receive "Civil Unions"??

It's not like the government can force a religious institution to perform gay marriages. So once you take the religion out of marriages I have a hard time seeing what the difference between a marriage and a civil union.

The whole issue of gay marriage is obviously very controversial, but it's pointless to be hateful about the whole thing. For starters, we don't know whether or not gays choose to be gay, it's not provable. I know that personally I didn't choose to be straight (though I'm glad I am obviously) but I can't speak for anyone else. From a constitutional standpoint I don't see how gays could be prevented from getting married, no one can probably argue that fact. It really does just come down to religion and personal values. People say homosexuality goes against God, others say it doesn't. All I know is that I can't find it in myself to hate another person for a lifestyle that they may or may not even have power in choosing. But if we can grant gays the same rights as a married couple without actually labeling them as married, that's probably as close as we can come to making everyone happy.

Ready, get set...stand your ground. This nation is going to be under moral attack for the next four years. Make sure you get plenty of rest, eat your veggies and stay alert. And don't forget to speak up...
But please, do it respectfully. We need to set ourselves apart from the immoral minority.

I am amazed and saddened at how hordes of people can be so thoughtless, and insensitive, especially the youth you get suckered into this swarm of pro-gay response very easily as they think and act with their brain's emotion-driven component, versus substantiated logic. It is not just about civil "rights," as in initiating laws for all to be able to vote, to go to the schools, employment, and neighborhoods of choice. This is something much different and much deeper. If society sanctions gay union as marriage, what happens to innocent children who need role models of maleness, and femaleness within the family unit?. How does this affect society in the long term? Really think about this! Maybe it as as Plato and Socrates taught, there are some values which are eternal., which are spiritual and not just a passionate impulse. The union between a man and a woman and the rearing and loving of their children are the good basis and the enabling or a good society. It is difficult enough to establishment healthy, long-lasting relationships between husband and wife, let alone between a flights of same-sex lovers where children happen to be involved. Has anyone really consulted couselors, and people who work in the strongly gay communties? There are great problems here in their relationships and actions. Stability? Happiness? Where are the children in all of this? Would any of you prefer gay parents? Think of the children and their confusion over how to act, observing confusing modeling examples, discovering where they belong in a "gay" union. Many tears have been shed over these problems, and because of the rash emotions of the loud crowds of the mostly young, society should alter views which have benefited society for thousands of years? Many social experiments have been tried along these lines, and history reveals its chaos. Let's be more intelligent and wiser than that, for our children's sake.

To the people making the comparisons gays being treated like blacks were in the 50's, get a life. Blacks were discriminated against due to centuries old doctrine and practices that expolited them for free labor and created the image that they were second class to whites. Gays are not refused civil rights. They can ride the same bus I ride. They can eat at the same restaurants I eat at. They can aspire to the same dreams and ambitions as I. They can go as far as their talent, ability and ambition will take them just as I can. They just cant get married and ruin a 6000 year old biblical law that says marriage is between a man and a woman. Boo Hoo! Stop making your lame comparisons to how blacks were treated and accept that marriage a sacred union under God between a man and a woman.

Just because the public is more tolerent to it does not make it morally correct. What makes it even worse is when the couple tries to raise children in that environment. Anyone who believes it is alright should have thier home plumbed with all female connections or all male connections. Maybe if they believe hard enough, they can fool themselves that thier pipes wont leak.
