Calderone and others like her spew lies straight from the pit of Hell. The rapid disintegration of the moral fabric in this country has to do with Americans in general tossing aside THE truth of the Word of God, engaging in adultery, pornography, incest, and homosexual behavior. God's Word is Truth. Truth is NOT RELATIVE. As long as people continue to ignore God's commandments (not the Ten 'suggestions'), society will continue to descend into anarchy. Furthermore, to liken the civil rights movement of African Americans to ANYTHING having to do with people who CHOOSE to engage in GLTB behavior is an insult to the intelligence of those who know biology, who understand that no matter what RACE a person is, ALL BLOOD RUNS RED. Interracial marriage may present social and moral challenges by some, but BOTTOM LINE: HETEROSEXUAL UNIONS ARE CAPABLE OF NATURAL PROCREATION. Such cannot be said of homosexuals. Two homosexuals cannot create a baby between them without the help of a test tube.

Get back your hive....you have no idea what you are talking about....its you hets that are the root of the evils in this world.....good thing worker bees only live one growing season....

I would love to see who they "polled". Give me 100 bucks and a parking lot and I'll get you any results you want. Just because the word "polled" is used, does not mean it has any truth to it. The voters spoke, and the liberals, as well as the liberal media, don't like it.
This is the very reason Govoner Patrick worked hard to see to it that this issue never came to a vote in Massachusetts (right after he picked out the new furniture for the govenors mansion). He, and everyone else, knew it would have been banned here in Massachusetts also.
Bottom line.....liberals love news week, and so do conservitives....it tells us what liberals are thinking.

And what if god doesn't exist wildwonderful?

Global warming, more and more natural disasters, murder of innocents both living and unborn, financial disasters, mergers of banks and companies, fewer entities controlling more and more wealth, no regard for moral law and ethics. Gay marriage is just one more sign that evil is continuing to grow and the end of our known world is getting closer and closer.

Wow! Full of Christmas cheer are we! I think I grow so frustrated when people misrepresent Christ , his message and Cristianity, which was one of love, tolereance and acceptance. Christ embraced everyone except for the Temple money lenders..... Why would you want to keep rights that you enjoy away from others......oh, also, Christ broke laws that he felt were wrong......PLEEEEEase, guys, read your Bible.....

Wow I'm aghast in reading the bible-thumpers and notes from people apparently living under rocks on here. There are so many ..... well just "uneducated" (there, I'm being nice) comments here from folks like faithfulinCali who thinks that the "gay gene" would just show up in DNA mapping (is it the pink or triangle shaped one???) to martinize ('"every lesbian friend I have ....) and ru4real's "AIDS came from men making love to monkeys" that I'm just kind of shocked that these haters can find the wherewithall to even use the computer. Get some education on the facts and try to defend your point without sounding like a preacher in church; have an intelligent debate. For the way in which you've stated your thoughts here really doesn't make you sound all that informed for a "discussion"

    • Posted By: faithfulin Cali @ 12/07/2008 2:36:01 PM

Haters. What a word for the educated to use. Sound like a preacher and not fit for a discussion. You are not looking for a discussion, you seem to be looking for someone to intimidate. Which it seems is how this culture war may win.. However, it isn't won yet. As for hating it seems to me that the hate is coming from those who can gain the approval of the whole. Sad and aghast myself at your lack of inteligence. As for the aids issue. Not making love from monkeys, but from blood entering into a wound. Get your own education will you.

    • Posted By: mcgun @ 12/07/2008 12:43:18 PM

Yea!!!! here comes the intelligent police! Thank you!

"I'm aghast...living under rocks...I'm shocked these haters can even find the wherewithal to use the computer...Get some education..."

        Who's preaching, again?

You may also want to enlist the aide of a good teacher yourself; I fear your incredible education seems to have neglected grammar.

I'd like a pollster to determine what are the differences between the online Newsweek audience to National Public Radio's. I've been tapping into NPR lately, and their blog board doesn't get as heated or hateful as this does. I don't know where you come from, but please promise me not to wander to NPR's. I know NPR stories are short, but the blog board are well written, intelligent, and mad-free. NO one talks about God, the bible, and use them to vent hate.

  • Posted By: paplagr @ 12/07/2008 2:33:02 PM

Liberal nonsense. Consider the source--Newsweek. Utterly worthless!!

  • Posted By: Fort Begay @ 12/07/2008 2:26:04 PM

Let's imagine that to feel inclination or atttraction to the same sex was called humane, kindness, or likeness. Would it make any difference to some of you who believe that they do not have any rights? Do you realize that the people you resent have more in common with you than the SUV you wash, wax, and polish or the dishwasher you show your company or the new article of clothing you can't wait to wear to work? Make room in your materialistic heart. If not, try to think of the think that the salesperson who sold you your SUV is gay and gave you a great discount or the salesperson for your dishwasher helped you to find the perfect model for your needs, and then that article of clothing was designed by...by...someone (sigh!) gay. Oh Lord. Think about all the ways that you supported them without fanfare. Now to speak in Republicanism, think about all the young men and women in the armed services who are gay, but have inalienable belief in the US and what it symbolizes. Think about the people you come in contact with daily and how you wish them well. Think and love all. You weren't instructed just to love just the white, church-going with families. Think and love all.

" simply recognize what these trends mean, that within another decade, gay civil unions or marriages, call them what you will, will be commonplace, and guess what! Everyone else's lives will be unaffected!"
25,000,000 dead from aids so far and rising.unaffected?

  • Posted By: Independent! @ 12/07/2008 2:21:43 PM

I support gay civil unions. I do not support gay marriage. It might be semantics, but please leave the word marriage for one woman and one man. Also, exempt churches from lawsuits if they do not want to marry gays in a union. That is not too much to ask, but apparently the militants think it is, so here we go.

What's the problem, the issue was VOTED ON and DEFEATED?!?! For the last 230 years, I coulda sworn that's how it's done- IAM a product of public schools though. Maybe I missed the day that my teacher explained that when a niche group doesn't like the outcome of a vote, said group can pretend the vote never occured and keep putting it on the ballot. Truth is, the American people CONTINUOUSLY vote against gay marriage, how many times is enough? You can't get married, sorry about your luck. I hear golf is a nice hobby and it enables a person to smack around balls in public and for the pink triangle group......I dunno, fishing maybe?

  • Posted By: OttoPilot @ 12/07/2008 2:10:42 PM

As to the actual subject of the article: please note that public acceptance of gay unions is increasing rapidly, especially among younger voters. Putting aside the bible-thumping and obsession with other people's sex lives, simply recognize what these trends mean, that within another decade, gay civil unions or marriages, call them what you will, will be commonplace, and guess what! Everyone else's lives will be unaffected!

The Bible also talks about the fate of gay-towns (Sodom and Gomorrah).

I am aghast that gays liken themselves to Blacks. Being Black is something that is determined at conception. Being gay is a CHOICE made by grown up people. If it were not a choice, God would not condemn it.

    • Posted By: leftjava @ 12/07/2008 2:08:29 PM

Sodom and Gomorrah, sorry that was about rape, not gay.....read your

  • Posted By: knottwisted @ 12/07/2008 2:07:24 PM

What do gays want? The right to marry. It's not a question of God or of science. It's simply the fact that marriage is a union to unify families and procreate or continue the blood lines. This is impossible in a same sex marriage and is a decision for the people and not politicians to decide. I personelly stand proudly behind the people of California and Prop 8 and the Defence of Marriage Act.

  • Posted By: jdmimic @ 12/07/2008 2:07:24 PM

Amazing how many irrational arguments one hears on this issue. For instance, marriage is a union for the purpose of procreating. So I take it you advocate breaking up heterosexual couples that don't want children? Regardless of what the opponents say, marriage confers certain legal rights and responsibilities. Until mariage is disentangled from the legal ramifications, denying marriage to same-sex couples is unfair discrimiantion

  • Posted By: martialguy @ 12/07/2008 2:03:29 PM

Comment: Gay or straight all want the same basic things in life; just slightly different. To make sex last longer or prevent premature ejaculation, a straight man might think of...sad things, while a gay man might think of...women

  • Posted By: ZDiddy7 @ 12/07/2008 1:57:27 PM

When will this stop being forced on the people?!?! What's the problem, gay marriage was VOTED ON and DEFEATED BY THE PEOPLE!! Apparently, some in this country are above the system which has worked fine for everything else over the last 230 years. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention when they decided that if something is voted on and a group doesn't like the outcome, it keeps going on the ballot 'till they get what they want. Sorry, your lifestyle choice has been voted on AND DEFEATED, get a new hobby. I hear golf is fun.

  • Posted By: trininalinii @ 12/07/2008 1:53:17 PM

If you legally accept gay marriages then you open a can of worms that society is not ready for..... slowly but surely society will continue to be eroded and there will be no turning back. One can continue to blame biological reasons for homosexuality but that does not mean it should be legal. Many other societal problems blame biological reasons but the law is still maintained.

  • Posted By: Eamonn33 @ 12/07/2008 1:50:38 PM

Truthfully, homosexual unions and the promoting of such relationships as natural and right is a great evil. It is just plain wrong. To make it otherwise, is a great lie.

  • Posted By: gayisthenewblack @ 12/07/2008 1:44:28 PM

If I lived in California I would have voted no for proposition 8. People should be able to love and marry without be afraid of being harmed. Does that sound familiar? It should be like a new freedom, along with freedom of speech, press, religion, and other such.
