Ever since I got to know Howard Fineman's style via his appearances on Keith's "Countdown", I've been impressed. He's very interesting in that he uses different touchstones of reference, much like the way 'thinkers' see things differently than what a mere recounting of the facts does. This idea of "branding" is a great example.

No one is suggesting that the members of the GOP party of hate jump ship. We'd be delighted to see you go down with it. Rest assured, jump or hang on, the result is going to be the same. By 2020 the GOP will be third in line behind the democrats and a new more moderate and less hateful independent party. The Independent vote damned near caused a loss in the Georgia senate Race. In 2012 Georgia will give it's electoral votes to President Obama.

I've always believe it wisest to parade the field on the horse you rode in on, even if it's not the one with the best bloodline.

Every time I think Fineman can't get any more lame, he goes and outdoes himself. Could he possibly kiss Obama's a@@ any more than he already has? And all for a President elect that is yet to serve one day in office.

The real issue here is that Fineman has painted himself into a corner. He simply won't be able to be critical of President Obama no matter what happens. Fineman's fawning hero-worship has destroyed whatever credibility he once had.

Don't jump ship Fdave. I am still seeing where all of this goes.

The Republican ???conservative??? philosophy has proven to be empty for the majority. And it is simply hard to understand how giving money to companies or tax cuts to the wealthy will ever help our economy. When you think about how our economy actually works it becomes apparent that businesses succeed and grow and the wealthy gain more wealth simply because people spend, because the general population has and spends money and thereby stimulates the entire economy, allows business to grow and even provides profits for the wealthy. Just giving money directly to those at the top, whether businesses or the wealthy, has clearly proven to do little for the over all economy or for the majority of Americans. The objective that makes more sense is to get more money into the hands of the average person who can then participate to spend and stimulate the total economy. Saving businesses, which have proven to be irresponsibly and poorly run, by injecting tax payers??? money, may have some short term effect but it is simply asking to have to throw more money at it again later. And giving tax breaks to the wealthy tends to only make the wealthy wealthier. If the desire is sincerely to stimulate the entire economy, to benefit everyone, then the goal needs to be to make the average American more secure, free from exploitation by greed / dishonesty, and with more spendable income and just more confident that their status will remain stable. Any rationalizations that say otherwise, for instance the ???trickle down??? theory, are fraudulent and offer only deceptive solutions that benefit just the few. Our economy is literally more of a ???bubble up??? function and what is needed now is more stable consumer spending with higher employment, better security and without giving tax dollars to those at the top while just hoping somehow they will do something to make benefit then ???trickle down???. Anything our government does now should be focused on accomplishing those goals and on rejecting any rationalizations to justify otherwise, which are focused on benefiting the few. They have clearly and repeatedly shown us exactly what doesn???t work and to continue to do the same things, expecting different results, is totally stupid. Voters need to recognize and reject those who advocate / rationalize continuing with more of the same thinking. When the focus is on the wealthy, only the wealthy get real benefit; when the focus is truly on the average American, everyone wins! And that isn???t ???liberal???, it is truly pragmatic!

Also learn to read and how to SPELL, As for "the one and Only" Registered Republican, who believe it or not, was a McCain supporter in 2000, funny how things work out huh, When McCain became bushIII that was it for me, I NEVER did vote for Bush, not in 2000 not in 2004. I think it is obvious who I voted for this time ;)

BTW the correct spelling of the one you are "praying for is"Harley"S"here", not IS, hopefully you are clear now, I know it's hard for you to keep up, but the first step is to actually read what's right in front of you, HA! if only Bush had done that sometime before 09/10/2001....

Party of Hate hmmmh....Michael Moore, Bill Maher, David Letterman, Al Franken, Keith Ulbermann Alec Baldwin several of which openly stated they wished Bush was dead. Democrats giddy and gleeful when Strum Thurman and Jesse Helms fell ill hoping they would die sp they could potentially gain senate seats. A paty that has supported the murder of 50 milion Americans via abortion who is the party hate?

    c. Maclean, Your use of the term derogatory suggest that my comments are false. Which one of these statement are untrue. The GOP party of hate has the following spokespersons. Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mary Matelin, Dick Morris, Bay Buchanan, Pat Rrobertson, John Hagee, Tom Delay and a few dozen hate radio shock jocks? that the Republican party is led by George Bush who in the primary against John mcCain has robo-callers saying the McCain had fathered a Black Child? That the Republican Party's Mike Huckaby had those same robo-callers this year saying that McCain had ratted out his fellow POWs? Whether you put any stock in my words is a irrelevent as the opinions of those remaining mebers of the Hate party. The GOP as you know it is as dead as 10,000 Mummies. Who would heed anything a member of that party would say? If the hangers on are unwilling to expose the hate why pay them any attention?

Lots of show. We'll see what the big eared one delivers on substace.

  • Posted By: C. MacLean @ 12/08/2008 10:29:49 AM

Well, one thing that hasn't changed it the name calling. Not in Washington, but on the Newsweek blogs.

Repubssuck - using derogatory words as part of your ID guarantees that no one will take you seriously, regardless of whether or not you have anything worthwhile to say.

Horusbedhetys - you can disagree with someone, even passionately disagree with someone, without calling them moron, in fact, without calling them any names at all.

Harleyishere - as soon as we divide people into "us" and "them" we are pointed for disrespect - calling the other party idiots just isn't getting it done, and immediately makes one wonder just who is the idiot.

Come on, folks - did we really want change, or do we just want the labeling, finger pointing and name calling to continue?

    • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 12/08/2008 11:28:13 AM

      C. MacLean-please check the posts in question by HarleysHere. Notice that the name is not HarleyisHere. The i is missing. This particular Harley is a troll.
