You Republicans have Larry Craig, NY Elliot Spitzer and now...

Republican Norm Coleman to Contend with and his Corruption and Dirty Money.

The Twin Cities Pioneer Press reports that a probe has been launched into Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman's ties to businessman Nasser Kazeminy:

Federal investigators are looking into allegations that a longtime friend and benefactor tried to steer money to U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, the Pioneer Press has learned.

Agents with the FBI have talked to or made efforts to talk to people in Texas familiar with the allegations, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Houston is where the first of two lawsuits was filed alleging Nasser Kazeminy, a Bloomington financier, tried to steer $100,000 to Coleman via his wife's Minneapolis employer. The second suit, filed in Delaware, alleges Kazeminy initially tried to get money directly to the senator.

Both Coleman and Kazeminy have denied any wrongdoing, and Coleman last month said he welcomes an investigation.

Neither Coleman nor his office has been contacted by the FBI, spokesman LeRoy Coleman said Tuesday morning.

"We have not been contacted by any law enforcement or investigative authority on this matter," he said.

On Tuesday evening, Coleman's campaign released the following statement: "We are not aware of any investigation that is under way, nor have we been contacted by any agency with respect to this matter. As we have said repeatedly, we welcome any investigation of these lawsuits by the appropriate authorities to get to the bottom of these baseless, sleazy and politically inspired allegations."

The campaign provided no evidence for the claim that the allegations are "politically inspired."

A lawsuit alleges that Kazeminy tried to funnel money directly to Sen. Coleman. Sam Stein reported recently for the Huffington Post that Coleman could face an ethics investigation for his ties to Kazeminy if he is reelected to the Senate. A Minnesota good government group has called for am FBI probe.

While the lame Republican Party of Hate focuses on Illinois, President Obama's attention is on Georgia and those other states he lost by a close margin. In the 2012 race he will smash Romney ala Reagan/Carter. Cariline Kennedy will be elected in 2016 and again in 2020. The Democrats, thenks to the GOP, have a lock on the Senate, House and the WhiteHouse as long as the Repubicans continue to follow Hannity and Morris. Why doesn't anyone mention that Fox and old lardbutt rushbo put all they had into this last election and lost. The only possible competition in the future will come in certain House and Senate elections where the newly emerging independent Party wins. The growing independent Party will prevent the GOP from ever threatening our Country again.

The only surpise here is in the extent of this clown's antics. Politicians use influence all the time to get thing s done, that's just the name of the game. But I believe that nobody would ever suspect that the guy sitting next to him would be such a pathetic shmuck. He was (is) the Gov. You have to do business with him. Just because you do, frequently and amicably, DOES NOT, ipso facto, make complicit. Could Obama have survived the vetting of being elected (uncontestedly) Pres. if he was IN ANY WAY connected to Gov. Blagojgetrich's schemes? This goes way beyond party afiliation. GOP pundits can't ride their high-horses on this one. There must be something in water in the affluent areas of Chi-town, and Blagojscratchitch drank his fill. This guy is just plain messed up! The next Gov. of Ill should be a resident of, and elected by, a completely different State. Let South Dakato pick Illinois's next Gov.

I think it's funny how all these sleazeballs tried to attach themselves to Obama early - clearly sensing his rising star. That Mr. Obama took advamtage of them without being compromised by or obligated to them is a testament to his skill as a politician and a manager of people and issues.

He even influenced the passage of the ethics reform bill that Blaggy was trying to circumvent when he got busted(source: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/10/us/politics/10chicago.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1&partner=msnbcpolitics&emc=rss).

I realize that tough talk from Aircraft Carrier decks looks cool, but, as a pragmatist, I would much rather have a President who can take advantage of the sleazeballs of the world (I'm looking at you Iran, North Korea, Russia, the UN...) without compromising US interests. If he can land 'em in jail to boot, all the better.

i like the part where he says, if Obama's people will only give hi m appreciation, "[blank] them".

    freakin hilarious.

The blanks were killing me! If this was a movie, it would be ridiculed as being ridiculously over the top.

      Happy Birthday you blanking crook!!!

Chicago Politics hasn't changed since the days of Richard Daly. I can remember him attempting to keep elcted delegates form the Democratic Convention by force. Chitown is a rough town and all mobbed up. Fitzgerald is an American Hero ala Elliot Ness. As far as PRESIDENT OBAMA goes, he's not been implicated. Does he have something in his portfoilio that can hurt him? I think anyone who gets as far as the U.S. Senate has done something that has profitted them parsonally or helped a friend or associate. It's wrong to do it but is it really any different that a non-politico getting favored over someone for a job or someone getting around some red tape because of a friend on the inside? I'll bet there aren't a lot of commenters here who haven't either been favored unjustly or been screwed by someone who didn't deserve to be chosen over them. Blago is bad news and should do time. He is cut from the same cloth as the arrogant Stevens from Alaska who continued to run for the Senate after ha had been convicted. These two are dirty birds alright but pale in comparison to the long list of Republicans who are serving time or been run out of office for Child Molestation. anyone wanting proof of that, just ask and you shall receive..

Another politician from the Chicago machine takes a dive.

Remember Ryan, their last governor, selling CDLs?

  • Posted By: Repubssuck @ 12/10/2008 9:02:22 AM

If President is guilty by association because of Blago, does that make Sarah Palini guilty by association with Ted Stevens. Fox news flunky Fred Barnes was like a kid in a candy shop last ight. Bay Buchanan was likewise on CNN. By contrast, the Democrats never even suggested that Palin could have anything to do with Stevens. The GOP party of hate never rest and we won't either. As long as the Republcans recieve their marching orders from Hannity, Morris, Limbaugh, matelin and buchanan they are doomed. the Grand OLD Party has withered and died and nothing will change that. Repeat after me Republicans, Hate is Good! Hate is Good! Hate works! Hate is what the GOP stands for! Pathetic, Feeble and fading fast.

Blagojevich can eat a fat d1ck. Nice hair piece looks like the leftover clippings from the local dog groomer.

So Illinois Gov. Blago is bagged for trying to sell Obama's Senate seat... How do people like this ascend to be a governor?

This guy's level of common sense ranks right down there with Elliot Spitzer and OJ. Simpson.

Learn to read. I equated his level of common sense. Do you have a problem with understanding that, or are you just naturally illiterate?
