    I believe you meant to write "So for example, "locking the door" means security and personal safety here at home, but locking the door 3,000 miles away means simply turning the key.

    Really, the Procrastination issue is more easily explained not through task specificity but by the perceived psychological mental pain of imagined or real tasks of experiences that we expect to feel - the boredom of an activity, the physical pain of an activity and the perceived loss of pleasure. It is our inability to experience the pleasure of the task accomplished or the belief that the task will never occur versus the pain of having to initially or continually experience that intrude on our getting started. Like jump starting a car, it takes a burst of psychic energy to overcome the inertial, mass of inert, unmoving status quo.

    Might this be explained by the difficulty of the task? Concrete answers are very easy with very little thought necessary. You have to put in effort to answer the abstract questions. I believe the trait of people they should be looking for is laziness, not psychological distance.

    This is a very interestin study. Looking back over the years, I am 45, I can see this working. IN short i would say this these findings are true.
